Knowledge focus in ICTs:
EMBRAPII – CPqD
Optical Communications
Since October 2014, as an EMBRAPII Unit, CPqD can offer to the
national industry funding, knowledge and expertise, accumulated
over the course of 38 years, to develop advanced solutions in optical
communications;
Its Competence Area covers the following technologies:
• Optical transmission systems in long distance: technologies of transmission and
reception, dispersion compensation techniques and optical WDM regeneration
(transmission beyond 100 Gbits per channel).
• Optical transport systems: technologies of optical switching WDM and Ethernet
packet, optical network transport protocols, traffic engineering and reconfiguration
protocols for mesh network topologies (e.g.. Carrier Ethernet and optical networking
self-configuring);
• Optical access systems: technologies of network systems based on optical fiber for
the last mile“, equipments for PON networks (e.g. The OLT controller and user terminals
ONT), network systems of access and PON aggregation at 10 Gbits rates (per interface)
and aggregation packet switches at 10 Gbits (connection-oriented).
• Optical sensing systems: technologies for remote monitoring.
