1. WEEKLY REFLECTION 6
This week I completed the script for the fourth episode of my series, as well as making amendments to the
third episode. I’ve written the character of Skye out of the majority of these episodes to accommodate the
actress; Olivia Maiden, not being as available as the rest of the main cast. She will however, play a large role
in episodes 1, 2 and 5. I also cemented the casting of experienced actress Angie Sutcliffe as Maria Jordan,
the mother of J.J. She will be coming into the project fairly late in the filming process from the 1st to the 2nd
of April. Luckily, her scenes shouldn’t take that long to film. Olivia Maiden has booked accommodation in a
hostel in York for three days a week for three weeks. This gives us a nine day window to finish her scenes,
which should hopefully be achievable thanks to amending Skye’s screen time as a character. I hope to have
all five scripts completed by the time of her arrival, as well as the shot lists for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd episodes at
least. A large priority now is to ensure my planning is fully completed, so as to be able to focus all my
attention on producing the series. I’ve acquired a choreographer, a drone operator and a Camera operator
for what will prove to be an arduous scene in episode 2, featuring a dance in a forest. This will be by far the
hardest scene to film and therefore will require the most planning beforehand. Next week, filming will begin.
With scenes from episodes 3, 1 and 5. Mostly episode three, as all of the cast members required for that
episode will be available on Monday. My external actors have both confirmed. As have the actors sourced
from inside York College. I have acquired 2 sleeping bags and a tarp for the twins camp, so we will be filming
scenes there. I have also completed my location scouting for the York wall, and have determined where best
to film the scenes there. My next step in this aspect will be to scout minster gardens, Hoggs pond, Askham
Bog and a House for my needed sets. As well as the bridge, the river, and a suitable street for characters to
walk down when necessary. My soundtrack for each of the main characters has been completed, as has the
main theme. Due to the poor quality of the York College microphone when recording music, we instead
decided to use Laptop software to create the soundtrack for my series. After some of the filming is
completed, I may requisition some more tracks to add to the scenes. All in all, the project is coming along
smoothly, I just need to ensure there are no loose ends in the planning. I also need to make sure the scenes I
will film on each day with which actors are planned out, but with some wiggle room for running late or early.
