Delivering complex business services in your organization demands a rigid approach to server deployment and management. Modern data centers often have distributed virtual and physical servers as well as management teams which make the challenge even more difficult. Increasing headcount in your group is typically not an acceptable answer so how do you manage the growing complexity? The answer lies in a complete physical and virtual server life cycle management solution which provides the automation of application deployments.
In Part IV of its five-part webinar series "Managing IT Operations in a Virtualized World", Pepperweed Consulting will discuss how a combination of HP Server Automation and HP Operations Orchestration can streamline the deployment of your operating systems, software and patches for both your physical and virtual infrastructure. We will also analyze how compliance and application release management play a key role in ensuring control over your server deployments.
Virtualization technology is helping to drive an increase in the utilization of computing assets while allowing managers to reduce operating costs through data center consolidation. However, in a recent CIO Magazine survey across 3000 customers throughout the world, there was a 42% jump in those reporting that virtualization has increased the complexity of their data centers. This complexity is being driven by the following issues as CIOs and IT managers work to combine the virtual data center with the their physical data center: * Virtual sprawl
* Consolidated Event Management
* Provisioning & Compliance
* Change & Configuration Management
In this 45 minute webinar, Pepperweed Consulting will discuss these issues and outline a roadmap and architecture using HP BTO Software solutions to ensure that you do not miss an operational beat and maximize your investment in virtualization technology.

Cloud Done Right - PaaS is the Remedy to VM HangoverMohamad Afshar
Virtualized hardware is all the rage in enterprise IT. However, is a purely virtualization-focused, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) approach really the right one for enterprises and government? What’s becoming clear is that virtualization is but one piece of a much bigger strategy for fast, self-service deployment and ultra-efficient operations, referred to as “platform as a service” (PaaS). PaaS leverages a wider set of middleware capabilities to enable application deployment in minutes rather than days and reduces operational costs by up to 90%. This general session will compare and contrast the IaaS and PaaS approaches, discussing architectural and operational considerations for PaaS using examples of best practices. It's a must-attend session for anyone considering building a private cloud.

Leading the way with Microsoft System Center deployments and training
Looking at Deploying Microsoft System Center 2012 ... This is a must see session for you. Typically Microsoft System Center has been well documented as a complex system to implement into your organisation, with a single component taking 2-3 months and the suite normally 18 months to deploy. This means a high overhead and protracted deployment process before your business can start to realise the benefits of the system.
No longer is this the case.
In this session you will get to see new methods that have been proven in Enterprise scale deployments, reducing this deployment time down to days!! This means with covering design and training your business can be up and running in a matter of weeks.
The Session is delivered by Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Steve Beaumont, who is PowerONPlatforms Technical / Product Director.
The session will cover:
System Center Overview
Traditional Deployment Styles
Automated Deployment Tools and Appliance Platforms
Real Life Customer Examples
Q&A

Webinar: Reducing Risk of Change in Your Virtualized InfrastructurePepperweed Consulting
Did you know that 80% of downtime in data centers is caused by unplanned change? The truth is that flawed business impact analysis and poor collaboration are usually the leading contributors. What makes it worse is that the demand for changes across the IT infrastructure is increasing at an alarming rate along with increasing complexity driven by virtualization of the IT infrastructure. However, the resources required to manage that change is not increasing. In fact, many virtualization projects don't get past an initial stage because they fail to include change management in their deployment strategy and quickly discover that they are overwhelmed by VM Sprawl.
Webinar: Gaining Control and Visibility of Your Virtualized InfrastructurePepperweed Consulting
With additional point tools for managing virtual components and new groups responsible for managing virtualized deployments, virtualization raises the complexity of data centers as well as can cause splintered visibility and control. These have in cases increased IT operating costs and have stalled virtualization deployment to around 30% of the available infrstructure. In Part III of its five-part webinar series Managing IT Operations in a Virtualized World, Pepperweed Consulting will discuss HP Software Operations Center tools that will give you a single view for controlling, maintaining, and operating your physical and virtual infrastructure.

Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

HP Server Automation is the industry leading solution for end to end server and application lifecycle management. It can help automate compliance management by enabling users to set and enforce corporate standards for configurations, deploy OS and software patches regularly and reduce risks by staying up to date with regulations It can also help server administrators better manage virtual machine sprawl. VMs have a tendency to proliferate in an environment. Server Automation enables administrators to manage the complete lifecycle with the same policies and processes that are used to manage physical servers. SA also enables admins to map the relationships and dependencies between physical and virtual servers. At the end of the day you want to manage your virtual machines with the same tools, processes and rigor as you manage your physical machines and we allow you to do that. SA also helps streamline the application release process. It enables application updates to be deployed consistently and according to best practices. It can be used coordinate the people processes and code across the QA, Staging, delelopment and production environments. This includes both different content and server baselines in this environment Server Automation can also be used to enable centralized IT management. All of these companies turned to our Server Automation product to solve their challenges and the results were remarkable With server automation, the major retailer was able to reduce the amount of time it took to implement changes on 2600 servers from 2 weeks to 20 minutes resulting in a 99% improvement in efficiency The managed service provider was able to reduce the amount of time it took to provision and configure 600 windows servers from 3-4 months to 2 weeks A key customer was able to reduce the amount of for their compliance management from 32 weeks to 2 days Another key managed services provider was able to reduce the amount of severity 1 level incidents from 80+ per week to 1 per week. All of these customers were able to reap huge gains in efficiency through the power of automation.
There are a lot of rules once you get into production about checking utilization rates and best configurations for the virtual machines. Our customer really had no good way of tracking this information. Before HP it was quite manual they way they logged into the vendor point tools to ident utilization rates. Now with HP they just do it as part of the audits that run every night or they do it during the day at peak hours. So now they can be more proactive about identifying things that are out of compliance with their corporate standards.
