The document describes 7 major climate zones: 1) Desert, characterized by high temperatures, little rainfall, and sparse vegetation. 2) Steppe, which surround deserts and have some grassland but not many trees. 3) Mediterranean, with mild temperatures year-round and rainy, mild winters. 4) Marine West Coast, with cool, wet summers and mild, rainy winters. 5) Tropical, which are hot and humid near the equator with high rainfall. 6) Savanna/Continental, with moderate temperatures and seasonal rainfall. 7) Highlands, which are mountainous areas with cooler temperatures at higher elevations. Each climate zone has distinct temperature and precipitation patterns.
