Morphology is the study of word formation and interpretation. It examines how words are established through morphemes and how compound words are varied in a language. There are free morphemes that can stand alone with meaning, and bound morphemes that cannot. Function morphemes include inflection morphemes that change words to be additive without changing meaning. Word formation processes include borrowing words from other languages and coining new words without regard to typical formation rules. Studying morphology deepens understanding of word structure and provides knowledge of proper language use through understanding morpheme types and principles.

3. O’grady (1997) : Morphology is the system of categories and rules involved in
word formation and interpretation. And Crystal (1980) : The branch of
grammar which studies the structure of forms of words primary trough the
use of the morpheme constructs.
So Morphology :
The science that examines the language of the establishment of the word /
morpheme and also variations of the compound word / morpheme in a
language.

4. “Free morphemes“
can stand alone with a specific meaning,
for example, eat, date, weak.
“Bound morphemes”
cannot stand alone with meaning .
example: happiness ~> happy is free
morpheme, and ness is bound morpheme.

example = I speak english ~> I'm
speaking english

6. Word formation process
1. Borrowing: the adaptation process of forming words
from other languages.
example:
~ "Definiti" of "definition"
~ "Televisi" from "television"
2.Coinage: the formation of new words without regard to
the process of word formation.
example:
~ Rinso ~> to refer to all types and brands of detergent.
~ Aqua ~> to refer to all types and brands of mineral water.

7. The Purpose
After study the morphology we can add to the
deepening of knowledge about the morphological
language users. Provide an understanding of the
intricacies of the word. knowledge of the language
user and use good language rules and right. Inside
