We have different types of Storage Networks like direct-attached storage (DAS), network-
attached storage (NAS) and storage-area network (SANs).
Now there is a huge difference between NAS and SAN
2.SAN(Storage Area Network)
A SAN moves storage resources off the common user network and reorganizes them into an
independent, high-performance network. This allows each server to access shared storage as if it
were a drive directly attached to the server. When a host wants to access a storage device on the
SAN, it sends out a block-based access request for the storage device.
SAN would be appropiate for an Oracle Financial database, as Storage Area Network will be
more efficient and reliable for a large database, as it is a high performance network and provides
better results as compared to other Network Storage Technologies.
