1. "We're Not Safe Here" is a scary horror short film. For three longtime friends, a camping
trip turns into a night of terror and insanity when one of them tells the story of a
mysterious creature called La Mimica. This terrifying tale of fear and paranoia takes
inspiration from contemporary classics like The Thing (1982) and modern successes
like Among Us. When you don't know what to trust, how long can your sanity survive?
Ian :- you guys know we’re not safe here, right?
Alex :- What do you mean? In these woods.
Ian :- yeah man. Out of the middle of nowhere.. there can be anything lurking.
Matt :- I knew it. There we go.
Ian :- what?
Matt :- you’re gonna tell a ghost story.
Ian :- no.
Alex :- alright, just go for it.
Ian :- I man- okay yeah, but this one is actually real. Okay, it comes from my
family’s history. You’re gonna love it.
Alex :- yeah for sure.
Ian :- Oh alex, it’s not that scary.
Matt :- we’re camping and now we’re doing the ghost story.
Alex :- all right.
Ian :- yeah it’s the moveeeeeee.
Alex :- the moveeeeee dude. Alright alright
Ian :- shhhhhhh
You’re gonna be fine alex it’s not that scary.
So, I found out recently from my grandma that my ancestors, when they first
came to this country they lived in these very woods.
Matt :- wow…..

2. Ian :- I know seriously though. So my ancestors Arthur Jackson, was told by the
natives that these woods were haunted by a mysterious creature called…… La
mimica.
They said that this creature looked like a human but was large standing eight feet
tall. Lanky and hairless with jet black eyes like a demon. It came out only at night
to hunt and it needed a lot of meat tokeep going.
Matt :- sounds like my ex.
[ everyone laughs]
Ian :- shut up matt.
Matt :- I’m sorry. This is fantastic please heave at it.
Ian :- So rumor has it, the natives would hear strange noises in the forest.
Sounds, whistles, even words. Some would swear that they even heard voices
but anyone who went to investigate would never return, soon the locals deemed it
the result of a single creature. La mimicaaa. By the time my ancestor Arthur,
arrived nearly all of them wiped off, so he went into the forest to find this
mysterious La mimica.
Matt:- smart Arthur.
Ian :- He was accompanied by a local native who knew the woods better than
anyone, well that night, the natuve went missing. He searched and searched and
found a tiny piece of his cloak at the mouth of the cave. He went into the edge of
the cage and whispered into darkness.
Hello. A voice answered back ,Hello.
It was the native. He conversed back with the native to make sure it was
genueinly him and when he was sure in the fact that it was the native he took one
step into the cave.
[ loud scream sound]
Ian :- yessssssssssssss
Alex :- what the heck man.
Ian :- It was worth it, I put this back here like an hour ago, it was perfect.
Alex :- jesus Christ, I hate you guys.

3. Matt :- that wasn’t me, that was all him.
Ian :- I should’ve recorded that, man that was perfect. I’m sorry alex.
Alex :- that screech was so loud.
Ian :- Good story, right? Good story. La mimicaaaaaaa.
Matt :- it’s not bad.
Alex :- sucked.
Ian :- whatever, wha-you didn’t get scared?
Matt :- uh, no.
Alex :- not even a little bit?
Matt :- the screech? I mean it was starling but from the actual story or whatever?
No. I can just tell it’s not real.
Ian :- no, no, no, it’s real. My grandma told me that story.
Matt :- okay, well, the problem is everyone in it acts as dumb as hell just like
every other ghost story.
Ian :- whoa, whoa, whoa, My man Arthur was chilling there for like an hour and he
was very smart.
Matt :- okay, well-one, if the natives were all dying they would just move. It seems
easy enough. Okay also if the woods were so at night they’d only go in during the
daytime.
Ian :- yeah, but….
Matt :- and la mimica can mimic any human voice, right? Any voice it hears at all?
Okay, well then your ancestor id dumb as hell because he didn’t have you know,
a backup plan to ask the native something only he would know. I mean come on.
If real people were hunting something that’s known to imitate humans you’d think
they’d be able to tell it apart from other stuff.
Ian :- you say that now. It’s easy to be logical here in the moment but when you’re
in a stressful situation, it’s impossible to be fully prepared.
Matt :- I’d still be more prepared than your ancestor.
Ian :- heeeyyy, my man Arthur was a homie.

4. Alex :- what happened to him?
Ian :- he was never heard from again.
Matt :- good.
{ all Laughs}
Ian :- I share genetics with that guy.
Matt :- it shows
[ everyone goes to sleep, after a while alex checks his phone it shows sharp 2 am
and the texts his mom and keeps his phone aside]
Alex :- what?
Ian :- I’m just leaving to take a piss. Did I really startle you?
[Alex laughs]
Alex :- nope.
Ian :- la mimicaaaaaa.
[ Alex sleeps, after a while matt wakes up ]
Matt :- yo, where’s ian?
Alex :- he’s just taking a piss.
Matt :- when did he leave?
Alex :- i don’t know, like, two minutes ago.
An hour ago.
Matt :- what?
[ someone slamming the door of the tent, both turns on their
flashlight ]
Matt :- is that an animal?
Alex :- i don’t know.
[ matt goes to check, he tries to push the creature back away
from the door but it was useless, he punches the door and comes
back ]

5. Matt :- i thik it’s lan.
Alex :- he’s been away for over an hour.
Matt :- maybe he’s just trying to scare us?
Alex :- what? no there could be some stranger out there.
Matt :- ian. ian is that you?
Alex :- i think it’s a bear.
Matt :- no bear don’t sound like that. I thik it’s ian.
Alex :- then how’s he making these sounds?
Matt :- ian. Quit aroung, you got us.
[ tent starts to shake]
Matt :- hey.
Ian :- I got you.
[ matt laughs whereas alex is scared ]
Matt :- ian dude.
Ian :- that was good right? Ha ha ha
Matt :- shut up dude.
Ian :- you guys gonna let me in?
[ matt moves forward to open the tent ]
Alex :- no, no don’t open the tent.
Matt :- why?
Alex :- that-that shaking was impossible. How could-? I don’t trust that’s actually
Ian.
Ian :- I’m freezing out here, let me in.
Alex :- the La mimica needed to trick it’s prey-.
Matt :- dude, the mimica’s not real alex, okay.

6. Matt :- look, I know these things affects you man-
Alex :-okay well then why won’t he just open the tent himself?
Ian :- yo matt, you left this out here.
Matt :- what the..? how’d I forget that?
[ alex finds matt’s belongings right beside where he was sleeping ]
Alex :- no matt, wait.
[ someone pulls matt outside of the tent with a great force which makes matt
scream, alex gets more scared, alex tries to save matt buta pray of blood gets
poured all over his face, he hears noises of bone breaking and meat being torn
apart , alex closes the tent ]
[ Sound stops ]
Ian :- now it’s over. Ha ha ha. We got you good right?
Matt :- alex, bro are you good? We were messing with you man. It was just a joke.
Alex :- ma-matt are you okay?
Matt :- yeah.
Alex :- what the heck is this shit real?
Matt :- the blood, no-dude-. I got it at a halloween store, it’s fake.
Ian :- seemed pretty real, right.
Matt :- Oh and before you ask. You have a cat, her name is tina and she’s
adorable. There, now you know it’s us.
Ian :- we good to come in?
Alex :- What are you even asking for? Just let yourself in.
Ian :-I was just making sure bro. I didn’t know it would freak you out this much.
Alex :- you just poured blood all over my face and now you’re playing this mind
game shit with that La mimica.
Ian :- yeah, dude, we’re done with that. I know, I feel bad though.

7. Alex :- no, you don’t. you know I get paranoid sometimes and you’re still playing
with me. Just open the tent yourself.
Matt :- okay, dude, okay. No worries.
Ian :- I think it’s stuck.
Alex:- of course it is.
Matt :- alex, look I’m sorry we messed with you, okay? We honestly just wanted to
pull a good prank
Ian :- yeah, none of it was real.
Matt :- okay, what part actually messed with you?
Alex :- the guitar’s in here, how’d you actually play it out there?
Ian :- oh, Bluetooth speaker bro. also how I did the growling.
[ growling sound ]
Alex :- how’d you do the shaking?
Ian :- I just shook it a bunch-
Alex :- no that’s not-. That was not just you. That’s not possible.
Matt :- there’s nothing else out here alex. I think it just seemed like a lot cause we
were inside it.
Ian :- yeah,I swear it was only me.
Alex:- oh my god….
Matt :- dude, you actually need to let us in. the zipper’s stuck, it’s freezing out
here, we’re like four hours away from the car, it’s dark as hell. We’re not safe
here.
Alex :- it’s just-. Why would you do this whole thing as a prank in the first place?
Like it’s just perfect. Okay, I’m assuming you made up la mimica, but the fact
you’re doing this shit makes me think it’s real and I’m damn scared.
Guys.
Matt :- shhhhhhh. Shut up [ in a low voice]
Alex :- holy shh…

8. [ alex goes to the door of the tent and begins listening to the conversation
between matt and ianas they were talking among themselves in a low pitched
voice]
Ian :- that was for sure a bear.
Matt :- dude I mean what?
Ian :- I’m sorry, matt.
[ growling noise]
Alex :- okay, hold on. Hang on.
Matt :- hurry.
Alex :- al right, come in, come in.
In an unknown voice :- aleeeeexx. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Alex :-nooooo, aahhhhhhhhh
[ next day the cops finds the three friends dead about the same locatiob ibt he
woods and their death is still a mystery no one knows knows who killed them
except for one La mimica]
