St. Vincent Narrative
Growing up in suburbia, I struggled to find my place as a first generation American. I did not
appreciate being called African American because it is an inaccurate way of describing my
heritage, but I felt pushy and pretentious if I told people to call me Caribbean American. My dad s
family still lives in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and we visit them every few years, so I had
to confront these issues during my familys last trip to St. Vincent. I liked the idea of living in St.
Vincent because of the entertaining stories that my cousins and aunts told me about the island. It
had been so long since my previous trip to St. Vincent, so I had idealized and unrealistic
expectations of what St. Vincent was like. My aunt had told me that... Show more content on

To begin with, I am afraid of falling off the side of a mountain. Even if the edge is over 100 feet
away, I can still picture myself tripping and accidentally going over the edge. Because of this
fear, I absolutely did not want to go on the hike. I pouted, whined, and did everything I could to
resist the adventure. The hike aside, the car ride to the base of the volcano is terrifying enough
because of the twisty, mountainous roads in addition to left hand side driving. And why was no
else concerned that the volcano might erupt while we were on it? Unfortunately for me (at the
time), my family and I made it to the starting point of the trail. I trudged up the volcano, trailing
behind the rest of my family, and after two terrifying and exhausting hours, we made it to the
summit. It was breathtaking. We were literally in the clouds, we could see Saint Lucia in the
distance, and seeing the steam rolling off the bottom of the crater was unexpectedly exhilarating.
I could never have imagined what a volcano would look like, and I am so grateful that my family
forced me to go I will never miss an opportunity like that just because I do not feel like

Overcome resistance
Reducing or overcoming resistance to change depends on identifying source of resistance; it also
depends on a leader s ability to be task oriented when it is required.
Here are 3 major strategies to deal with resistance to change (Cummings and Worley, 1993):
Empathy and support: this is the first step to know those who are experiencing troubles of change,
giving them possible ways of support, it is important to let those people notice that they are taken
care of, and a more friendly relationship will be made.
Communication: people tend to resist when things become uncertain, an effective communication
is strongly demanded, it also help people prepare for the change.
Participation and involvement: it is a very good idea to get those who are facing change involve
directly in planning and implementing change, participation is the best way to overcome resistance.
No matter how we think change may be, there is one thing that we shouldn t forget is that change
can be exciting and can bring new and positive opportunities for all.
The leadership of organizational change
The leadership is very important to the change of organizations, it is discussed in many works that
management may be more emphasized than leadership, however, I would like to put leadership in

The Passage Family Theme
A young girl wanders alone through the barren deserts of what used to be the United States. She
has forgotten how to talk in her isolation, through the decades of her solitary existence. She has
forgotten the man who saved her, an FBI agent who risked everything to be her father. All she
knows was that he was the one who truly cared about her. In the science fiction novel The Passage,
by Justin Cronin, the unique idea of familyis explored in depth. The author beautifully illustrates
how family can be found in the most unexpected places, even when everything you ve ever
known is falling down around you. One of the first times the idea of family is fully explored is in
an emotionally charged moment between Wolgast and Amy. Amy is in a coma after being injected
with the virus. Wolgast has bravely sat with her through day and night, with no protection from the
potential for a deadly virus. As he reaches total desperation, he tells Amy about his daughter Eva,
who died at one year old.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wolgast is terribly sick from radiation poisoning and is slowly dying. He has accepted that he
will die, and is trying to escape from his delirious state. He can not find Amy, so he comes
outside for what he knows will be his final moments. On page 246 it says, When daybreak found
him he would be no more. Amy, he thought as the stars began to fall, everywhere and all around;
and he tried to fill his mind with just her name, his daughter s name, to help him from his life.
Amy, Amy, Amy. This is a huge example of the importance of family in The Passage. Wolgast is
thinking of Amy as his daughter now, because that is what she has become to him. Family is not
always connected by blood, and in this case, Wolgast and Amy are even closer. Wolgast is
thinking of Amy, who has been the only positive thing in his life, as a way to be calm as he
reaches what he knows is his inevitable

Quality Dimensions And Measures Tables
Quality Dimensions and Measures Tables
In 2000, a Cincinnati nursing home had an unfortunate accident in which a bottle of nitrogen was
mistaken for pure oxygen. As a result, four residents passed away. This situation provides an
opportunity for organizations to look at how their processes may lead to potential failures. It is also
important to understand how certain conditions can influence errors and violation within the
workplace. In this incidence, OSHA turned the case over to the FDA for further investigation.
Health care administrators should understand the differences between the two agencies so that
adverse events are reported to the correctly. Another vital role for a health care administrator is to
understand the five principles of the Culture of Safety model, how the model could have been used
to avoid this error, and how to apply them within their institutions to avoid other potential mistakes.
Perrow s Factors and Higher Risks of Accidents Health care institutions are pitted against a barrage
of potential hazards, some of which can be life threatening to the patient and employee. In the
relentless attempt to secure and save lives, Charles Perrow suggests that complex systems are prone
to inevitable accidents identifying three universal elements (Sollecito Johnson, 2013, pp. 251 252):
1.Human error regardless of the level of skill and training will eventually falter.
2.Systems have natural flaws and multiple factors will trigger failure within the

3.1Current Issues, Problems and Challenges
Enforcing anti piracy laws have always been a challenge. For instance, blocking piracy websites
has been an endless game of cat and mouse as websites keep reappearing under different domains.
Moreover, pirates can use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to get around the blocked sites.
3.2Current Statistics and Future Trends
According to the Australian Site Blocking Efficacy Report produced by online analysis company
INCORPO, there has been an overall piracy has declined by 25 percent year on year. The Federal
Court has ordered the closure of 65 piracy sites and over 378 related domains since the site
blocking orders were first made in December 2016 in Australia.

Queen Elizabeth I; a Powerful Ruler in England
Brittany Fleetwood Barbara Whitehead History 111 6 May 2010 Queen Elizabeth I: A Powerful
Ruler in History While there was no law in Tudor England preventing appointment of a woman
on the throne, the ruling of a woman was considered unfavorable. Women were not normally
held high in command because it was believed that women could not rule well. During a time
where the role of women was contained, Elizabeth I of England proved her power and remained
the only unmarried queen in England s history. She reined England from 1558 to 1603 and has
become the symbol of an age, a symbol of the power of a woman who strived to govern. Queen
Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen, is one of the most important rulers of English history by winning the

And as for the traitor Wyatt, he might peradventure write me a letter but on my faith I never
received any from him; and as for the copy of my letter sent to the French King, I pray God
confound me eternally if ever I sent him word, message, token or letter by any means, and to
this truth I stand it to my death. Elizabeth pled her innocence her character true and loyal to her
sister and Mary denied to meet with Elizabeth. The English stood by their Lady s side, when
bystanders shouted God save the Queen , there was no response when the cry was God save the
Lady Elizabeth , the answer came, so be it . The people favored Lady Elizabeth over Queen Mary.
When there was no evidence to prove Lady Elizabeth s involvement against this treason, she was let
go upon Wyatt s confession that neither Elizabeth or Courtenay had any involvement in the
rebellion. The importance of the dispute is that the English supported Lady Elizabeth over their
own Queen. The nation s religious state was most comparable to Elizabeth s she was protestant
and the Queen was, in their eyes, putting the fait of their country in reach of one of the most
powerful nations during that time. The English supported Lady Elizabeth, even before she became
Queen. Queen Mary married Philip, ruled, and died shortly after in 1558 just before she

the era, nothing too bright, even tone and dark colors to give vibes of the dangerous mysteries that

officer McCluskey. Michael falls into the wild card category portraying him, as innocently trying to
fit in, as later he developed into the character of The New Godfather.
Absolute power is the goal for the Corleone family, the demeanor and confidence of Don, Michael

dominant masculinity of Don and Michael Corleone, as they threatened or murdered a rival gang

Nicholas Carr Is Google Making USupid Summary

reading more today than at any time in our history. The question is if reading all of these short
snippets of information is nearly as valuable to us as reading whole texts was to us in the past.
The internet that so many of us have come to depend on is a vast trove of information that is
readily available to all of us. Having access to all of that information is an amazing thing but we
should also consider what we may be loosing because of the way that we consume that
information. Is reading these short bites of information one after another causing us to loose the

Carr writes articles and books on technology, business, and culture, and has written for the
Guardian, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. He is a well established writer and
was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 2011. Carr wrote this article because he found himself having a
hard time focusing on any type of deep reading, something that he feels is very important to having
a well rounded mind. He emphasizes that because the internet is structured to be a massive
amount of information read one small piece at a time, our minds are starting to reflect that. He is
writing for an intellectual audience who are probably for the most part highly educated. His
audience would be those who can see the importance of the way that we consume information, and
how our brains use that information. His writing in this article does a very good job of reaching
that audience thanks to his obvious knowledge on the subject, and how he relates to his

Mad Tiger Inaccuracies
Mad Tiger (2015) by Michael Haertlein and Jonathan Yi Good band documentaries often aren t
about the music or back stage antics. They focus on the struggles of the band and their often
very normal lives. Mad Tiger is a film about a Japanese punk band called Peelander Z who live and
play in NYC. It s an intimate look of the relationship between two band members and if you read
between the lines you can see where their troubles start. Peelander Z reminds me a lot of the
band Gwar. If you don t know who Gwar is you likely aren t a metal head like I am but let me tell
you they claim to be from another planet, wear crazy costumes, play simple rock music, and often
spray the audience with fake blood and put on a very crazy gore filled stage show.... Show more

During all this turmoil we do see the band play a few small club gigs. Their music is nothing to
write home about, even Kengo says the band is based on 10% music and 90% theatre. I listened
to some of their songs and didn t like what I heard. I am not really a punk fan but it s easy to hear
that this band plays basic entry level silly sounding punk rock and doesn t focus on creating
anything interesting or original. The directors do a nice job of showing the two sides of the
band, it s self described Japanese action comic punk stage shows, and it s troubled relationships
and personal struggles. Filmmakers Michael Haertlein and Jonathan Yi have few directing
credits on IMBD but both are accomplished camera men. The cinematography in this doc at times
seems amateur but it may be a punk aesthetic they are trying to achieve but it s difficult to tell.
Most of the shots are three quarter talking head shots and I would bet the entire film was shot on
a DSLR camera. There are a few blurs, fades and slo mos and long shots but most of the action is
hand held which leads to a few focusing issues but its excusable considering the content of the doc

The Renaissance in Art Essay
Renaissance Art
When the new upper class movement, Renaissance, occurred in Italy around the 14th century, a
revival of the classical forms originally developed by the ancient Greeks and Romans, an intensified
concern with secular life, and interest in humanism and assertion of the importance of the
individual began. Thus, artists such as Mosaccio and Giotto depicted art that unlike the Middle
Ages, showed emotions, feelings, and bright colors, thus demonstrating the deep concern for
naturalism in the society. Other artists during the Italian Renaissance period such as Giovanni
Bellini began to express their art through secular and religious themes and ideas that were exhibited

His most famous and recognized work, however, the Birth of Venus uses the combination of
mythology and religion, also a popular humanistic idea adopted from the Greeks.
With the continuous growth of paintings and artists, prestige for art increased dramatically to the
point in which religious aspects were shown through landscapes, portraits, and temperas. This then
allowed the creation of new styles and mathematical input that manifested everyday life with
religious aspects. One such artist was Giovanni Bellini who introduced bright, rich, strong colors
into his palette and landscapes that expressed the happiness, calmness, and prosperity that Italy
carried throughout the Renaissance. These characteristics and styles of paintings subsequently
became a popular Venetian cornerstone. Other important figures in the Italian Renaissance that
demonstrated the movement?s ideas through their ingenious paintings and architectural methods
were Pier Della Francesca and Leon Battista Alberti. Francesca, who was and expert in mathematics,
developed the art form of perspective. Alberti, on the other hand, as an architect developed the
pediment which became popular throughout the entire Renaissance. His monasteries and churches
depicted many of the religious ideas, as evident in one of his famous works, the Santa Maria
Novella. All in all, the use of the common religious themes such as the annunciation, adoration,
Crucifixion, and the popular Madonna

The Gift Of Language In Fifteen Dogs By Andre Alexis
In the novel, Fifteen Dogs by AndrГ© Alexis, Greek gods Hermes and Apollo make a bet that if
they gave any animal the gift of intelligence, the animals would be even more unhappy than
humans. In making this bet, fifteen dogs are granted the gift of intelligence allowing them to be
able to communicate through their own newly formed language and become self aware. At first,
the dogs band together to form a pack, but quickly realize how language complicates their ability to
work together. With the gift of intelligence, the dogs become individuals and think separately rather
than working with a pack mentality. There is no longer harmony between the dogs, but instead a
fight for dominance and a battle of intelligence. We will identify how language eroded the pack
through disagreements and violence as the dogs become aware of their status and differences. The
dogs first run into difficulty with their gift of intelligence when it becomes obvious to them that
there are different levels of comprehension of their ability to communicate using their new
language. Prince is a dogwho shows a deeper understanding and love for language compared to the
others. We see Alexis bring this point out in the novel when he says, Prince s words had not
been meant as a warning. Rather, he had been playing. He had been pretending. He had been
speaking for speaking s sake. Could there be a more despicable use for words? (28). Prince, being a
very clever and curious dog, begins to expand the language,

It might be supposed that the purpose of remedies is to compel the promisors to keep their
promises. But the system of contract remedies is not directed at compulsion of promisors to
prevent breach , it is aimed instead as a relief to promisees to redress breach.[iii] The award of
damages is the common form of relief for breach of contract. Virtually any breach gives the
injured party a claim for damages for at least nominal damages.[iv] Further there are various kinds
of damages that a Court may award depending on the facts of each and every case.
This project aims at providing a comparative critique on damages as a remedy for breach of
contract under Indian, American, English and Chinese law keeping in view the research problem
and the objectives to be achieved.
DAMAGES
In USA the damages for breach of contract fall into three categories:
a) Expectation is the prospect of gain from the contract. (Rest.2d В§347)
b) Reliance is the detriment the injured party may have incurred by changing his or her position.
(Rest.2d В§349) Purpose of reliance damages is to restore the victim of breach to the position he
or she would have been in if the contract had not been made. (Rest.2d В§344(b) .)
c) Restitution is the interest in the benefits the injured party has conferred upon the breaching party.

The Industrial Revolution Of The Late Nineteenth And Early...
The industrial revolution of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century served as the impetus
to the creation of new technologies that helped interconnect various parts of the world. In essence,
technology was crucial to the development of a globalized economy. With the development of a
global economy companies began to expand beyond national borders and cater to citizens around
the world by becoming multinational corporations. These now global companies have not only
expanded their markets, but also rely on labor and raw materials from all around the world. For
example, PepsiCoInc. employs a global workforce to drive their business, Apple Inc. acquires
their component supplies from companies spanning the globe, and The Boeing Company uses a
global distribution system in order to market their products to airlines in various regions of the
world. PepsiCo Inc. was established in 1965 with the merger of Pepsi Cola and Frito Lay. Ever

Why Do Cults Be Illegal
Cults are a small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as
strange or sinister. Cults are portrayed to the people as dangerous and strange because of what
they often do. For example, one cult that is well known is the Ku Klux Klan also knows as the
KKK. They targeted African Americans, the criminal acts they did were very violent. All cults
should be illegal because they choose violent methods to put out their message. Cults are
dangerous to be apart in. The reason they should all be illegal is because they are very dangerous.
As well as their actions turn into violent acts. They fulfill acts of racism and oppression. Another
reason is because they brainwash their members to make them stay in the cult. Once in a cult many
members of such cults aren t allowed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actions that are made by cults are always going to be negative, there will never be any positive
effects made by cults. In an article from The New York Times it talks about how brainwashing in
a cult scares their members to force them to stay, Most of the malign cults are frightening to
people when their tenets are revealed, as with the People s Temple after Jonestown .
Brainwashing is one of many ways cult leaders make their members do the activities they want
them to do. Cult members usually do not know they are in a cult. Once they figure out they are
in one they want to leave but cannot. The members that are able to leave the cult will be left
with the physical and mental damages the cult leaves them with. In an interview, Paul Martin
talks about the damaged patients who were in cults looking for a way to be happier, seekers
looking for a worthy cause or a way to serve God, the lonely or depressed who find a caring
community in the group, and those who are caught up by the excitement of the movement or the

Pros And Cons Of Robert F. Kennedy s Speech On GDP
Review: Robert F. Kennedy s speech on GDP and the pros and cons
Robert F Keneddy speech on GDP highlighted the unique aspects associated with the understanding
of GDP. The speech talked about the meaning and importance of GDP and the misinterpretations
that are often attached with the concept. He was of the view that accumulation of material things
has remained a main focus of economic agents and doing so community values and community
excellence are often compromised. In his speech he presented an important concept that GDP
cannot be used as a measure of welfare of wellbeing of the economy because it does not take into
account the health of individuals, their standard of living, quality of education provided to the
individuals etc. In this way it is not a good option to rely on GDP while having an idea about the
development of an economy.
There are various other important aspects associated with the economy in general and community
in particular that determine wellbeing of the economic agents and these aspects are totally ignored
by the concept of GDP. GDP is unable to take into account the strengths of marriages, the
intelligence of the public, and the integrity of the public institutions. These moral aspects of the
community play significant role in its economic development too. Wisdom, courage, learning,
compassion, and devotion all such factors make our lives worthwhile and therefore it is not a wise
option to ignore these factors while talking about the economic

The Importance of Safety in Coal Mining Companies
Employee Safety Importance of Safety One of the most vital investments made in any mining
company is to ensure that their people return safe and sound at the end of a day of work. In the
current era of rapid industrial growth, managing the impacts of this growth on the safety and
wellbeing of employees is critical. The impact also extends towards the mining companies, overall
labor pool and the constant threat of mine closures and job losses. Whenever there is an accident or
death in a mine, companies face routine shutdowns ordered by the government for investigations,
and work stoppages by union members. This causes companies to suffer huge production losses.
Government and the Focus on Safety The government has adopted a strong stance on Coal Mining
Safety and has extended a commitment towards increasing general safety for mineworkers. It is
envisaged that greater cooperation could contribute to the safety efforts. Government continues to
engage in constructive discussions to engage with both business and labour on how to improve on
safety. Growth and Safety BHP Billiton had decided to expand its operations through the creation of
project hubs in Toronto, Santiago, Houston, Brisbane and Perth. Responsibility for the hub
establishment was given to EPMC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management)
contractors who developed the projects under the supervision of and on behalf of BHP Billiton.

Lawyers are responsible to demand justice for those who have violated their legal rights or an

not even done, resulting in false accusation which could possibly put an innocent person away
for nothing, this is why it is essential that lawyers prepare the way that they do. As a lawyer it is
your job to prove adequate abilities towards your case and most of all your client. Seeking
justice in the conclusion should be the attorneys goal even if the client presumes to be guilty. As
a student with a passion for the study of law, I have no fear in being the first to say that justice is
something we as people need to keep fighting for. Without justice who knows how things would

Siddhartha Hero s Journey
Is it the goal, or is it the journey? Although this seems like a complicated question it is in fact
simple, as is the reason to why, there is no goal without the journey. Seen through almost all aspects
of life the journey is the true story, whereas the goal is just an ending point that is often altered or
changed completely. In the novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse the goalmetamorphosizes after all

allowing themselves to experience any of life s trials and victories because they are so absorbed

experiencing the vicissitudes of human emotion as they stand at the fork in the forest, attempting
to make the right choice to go down the better path. This poem symbolizes how a person can have
the goal in mind of getting to their destination and therefore choose a path that they believe is
better and claiming to desire to come again in the future to find out what the other path held and
stating that the path he choice was the least traveled to justify the speaker s actions (Frost, 1916).
This displays that when a person is occupied by a set goal they could possibly miss vital lessons,
visuals, opportunities, and experiences in life because they do not have enough time to stray from
their path long enough to learn or see anything that might deter them (Frost,

Essay On Nick Gatsby
In the article The Trouble with Nick: Reading Gatsby Closely, Scott Donaldson argues that Nick
Carraway is a snob (98). Donaldson cites Carraway s intolerance toward those who do not know
how to act, Carraway s conflicting feelings about Gatsby, and Carraway s obsession with social
propriety as manifestations of his snobbery. According to Donaldson, a final revelation of
Carraway s aloof attitude is his static personality, a personality that refuses to learn from the
experiences of others. However, Scott Donaldson s argument is incorrect; Nick Carraway is not a
snob. In F. Scott Fitzgeralds The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway is an unpretentious man who

Donaldson argues that by insisting on having been invited to Gatsby s party and in attempting
to thank Gatsby for inviting him to a party, Carraway appears rather ridiculous and is overly
formal and pretentious (101). Donaldson explains that Carraway s obsession with social rules
reveals his snobbery. Once again, Donaldson is incorrect; Carraway s actions are signs of
respect, not of ridiculous pretentiousness. Carraway does not attend one of Gatsby s parties until
Gatsby formally invites him. Waiting to attend a party is a sign of respect, not aloofness. By
waiting for a formal invitation to attend Gatsby s party, Carraway reveals his respect for Gatsby s
privacy and home. Additionally, Carraway spends the majority of his first party attempting to find
Gatsby and thank him for his hospitality. Again, Carraway s actions are polite and demonstrate
respect for Gatsby. Instead of rudely ignoring his host as so many of his fellow guests do,
Carraway attempts to politely thank Gatsby for his hospitality, illustrating his respect for Gatsby.
Hence, Nick Carraway exhibits reasonable social decorum and exemplifies respect, not arrogance,

Robert Frost wrote Nothing Gold Can Stay in 1923. Frost wrote this poem out of fear that the
world would end He did not publish the entire poem and modified the first section. The first
section is what is featured in print. By not publishing the entire piece this leads me to believe he
may have feared voicing his opinion or the original work was for a specific audience.
This poem is a narritive because it tells what Robert Frost is seeing. He is seeing the begining of
spring and he is also talking about
Nothing Gold Can Stay. It means that everything beautiful can t stick around.
Although there is not heavy repitition in the poem, Frost uses the word gold multiple times.

Postmodern American Artist s Cindy Sherman And Kara...
Postmodern American artist s Cindy Sherman and Kara Walker critique and question grand
narratives of gender, race and class through their work and art practice. Cindy Sherman, born 1954,
is well renowned for her conceptual portraits of female characters and personas that question the
representation of women, genderidentity and the true (or untrue) nature of photography

across gallery walls and most recently her sugar sphinx, A Subtlety, address America s racist

On Saturday September 21 the terror began and continued for eighty hours. Al Shabaab militants
brought chaos and confusion to the people of Nairobi and 67 people were counted as loss to the
lunacy that is thought to be heroic actions for Allah. Most people would say that suspicious
behavior is someone acting strangely trying to hide there appearance but the truth is certain for
both cases as this group of about seven cowards moved towards the mall with guns blazing.
Frank Musungu, who worked for the Kenyan navy was advised along with other military
personnel not to go to high profile malls like this one in case of a terrorist attack. Munsungu,
knowing this danger carried a hand gun with him to the little cafГ© near the entrance of the
mall where the terrorist arrived with guns blazing. The events that took place the day those
crazy people walking into the west gate mall were truly tragic and need to be assessed. Men who
were told not to go to this mall for security reasons did so anyway. The problem is not necessary
to the solution in this case because it is obvious that the reason to take action was before the events
took place. Suspicious behavior was already a factor concerning the safety of the west gate mall.
Why actions were not taken to detour this atrocity is beyond my knowledge and understanding as
to why precautions were not taken to neutralize the enemy before it happened.

A Rose for Emily: In A Rose for Emily, the quiet town of Jefferson is inhabited by a living
monument of time, Miss Emily Grierson. Miss Emily inevitably lived in the only house left on her

theme of traditional values overpowering a changing society by his use of conflictand symbolism.
Following the division of the North and South in the United States, the Civil war molded many
people, including protagonist Emily Grierson, into an idealistic view of what they once were, and
created a barrier between old values and new values. Without opposition from the outside world,

Man vs. Society, Man vs Nature, and internal conflict are all developed throughout the story. One
of the prominent conflicts, Man vs. Society , or in other words, Miss Emily Gierson versus the
outside society within the town that she lived in her whole life, demonstrates the theme when the
mayor asked Emily to file her taxes. During their conversation, when Miss Emily keeps
exclaiming I have no taxes in Jefferson. (Faulkner 517), she s battling with time itself because the
world around her wants her progress with them. But, Miss Emily is inattentive to the idea of

Medical Ethics And Medicine Ethics
Medical profession has always been an occupation of helping and healing people and medical
ethics have become an inseparable part of it for decades. The first advanced concepts of medical
ethics, which have reached our modern world from the depths of centuries, were recorded in an
ancient Indian book Ayurveda (which translates as Knowledge of life, Science of life ). The book
has summarized the concepts of medical ethics, along with the instructions for a doctor to be
compassionate, friendly, kind, enduring, calm and to care about people. Even with the price of his

improvements were made to medical ethics later in ancient Greece and concepts were summarized
in Hippocratic oath .
Unfortunately, not all the doctors follow the concepts of medical ethics. Nowadays there are
hundreds and hundreds of medical ethics cases around the world and we will try to analyze a
particular one in a particular country.

The Rise of a Mash-up Culture Essay
A great deal has been said about the move from physical media to a ubiquitous, digital culture.
Some decry the downfall of the vinyl record, falling compact disc sales, the cheapening and
degrading of an art form. I ll try to stay away from unverifiable judgements about the direction
modern culture is moving in. More interesting is the way musical creation is changing as a result of
new technologies, whether we like it or not. What comes to mind is hyperrealitywhat Jean
Baudrillardcalled the generation by models of a real without origin or reality (166). Digital

Its pointless to look for the original blueprint of a digital representation, because it s independent of
the hardware it s stored in, and meaningful only in the information it encodes. Hyperreality results
from a loss of distinction between the representations and the things they re intended to represent.
In our culture, the separation between a song and the digital file of a song is becoming trivial.
Computers allow information to be torn free of its original context, and reinterpreted upon retrieval.
Representation engines are the ideal enablers of hyperreality, giving almost limitless power to
reorder simulacra upon simulacra.
The internet takes the representational capacities of computers, and spreads them over a vast
symbolic network. Anyone with an internet connection instantly gains manipulative control over a
whole world of digital abstractions. These have the unique property of not being tied down to any
specific physical origin. It follows that they re infinitely recreatable, and intimately tied to their user
defined context. This decontextualization began, to a lesser extent, with the advent of audio
cassettes, allowing the creation of mix tapes. A mix tape lets the listener take small parts (usually
whole songs) from different physical source material (records), and combine them into a new
whole, consisting of copied parts. This process, known as dubbing, creates an experience that is, at

Who Is Victor Frankenstein A Villain
In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, it is hard to differentiate who is the hero and who is the villain. In
countless stories, it is almost automatically quite easy to distinguish the characteristics between the
hero and the villain. This is not the case in Mary Shelly s novel Frankenstein. In the novel, we meet
Victor Frankensteinand his science experiment gone rogue, the Creature. At first glance into the
novel, many people would debate that the Creature is, in fact, the villain because he had
maliciously murdered Victor Frankenstein s family and closest friends. Of course anyone with a

Despite being gifted with excelling academically, he believes that his beliefs are
indistinguishable to the rules of the world that he must follow. When Victor was young he had
always been curious about life and death, as he got older, his curiosity turned into an obsession.
A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would
owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should
deserve theirs (Shelly 4.8). Frankenstein becomes obsessed with science because it helped him
cope with the death of his mother, Caroline, and it is also his breaking point. His emotions
mistakenly lead him to believe that he can have control over the destinies of people s lives if only
he knew how. This is where his obsession develops. Nor could I consider the magnitude and
complexity of my plan as any argument of its impracticability. It was with these feelings that I
began the creation of a human being. (Shelly 4.7). Frankenstein does not take into consideration
about the consequences he may face before he creates the Creature. When Frankenstein beings to
understand the factors to what makes life possible, he uses science in trying to become God and
tries to control these factors. Who shall conceive the horrors of my secret toil, as I dabbled among
the unhallowed damps of the grave, or tortured the living animal, to animate the lifeless clay?

Vain beyond imagination. quot; (Perkins 379) Although there are other numerous examples that I

is a mean town, a hard stingy town, and hasn t a virtue in the world but this honesty it is so

The next example of characterization used by Twain to support the theme of the story comes
through the character of the stranger. Even though the speaker of the story doesn t reveal much
about the stranger, we know that he is a very important character in the work primarily because
he sets up the corruption plot of the story. We know little else about his character besides what

Coach Boone Essay
The main role that a coach has to play in a team is being a leader and a role model. Showing the
rest of the team what s to be done and how to do it is be completed. Coach Boone and coach
Yoast show this in such a great way. They step up from the rest of the team by making the calls
and showing how being a great role mode. Throughout the movie the two coaches are more than just
a coach. They are a friend, teacher and motivator. All these things join up and make a great leader.

Coach Boone was the intense harsh coach. He disciplined his team when they weren t doing the
right thing whether it was at training or off the field. If his team want something, he makes
them earn it. A water break? Water is for cowards. Water makes you weak. Water is for washing
blood off that uniform and you don t get no blood on my uniform, boy you must be outside your
mind! We are going to do up downs, until Blue is no longer tired, and thirsty . This is a quote
that Coach Boone says to his team when they request for a water break. As you can see he doesn

is the nice guy coach. He s a lot different to coach Boone but the two combinations work well
together. At one point through the movie coach Boone drags one of his players off because he
was playing a bad game. The player was quite upset so coach Yoast went over to him and told
him to play on his defensive team because he felt the player needed to chance to prove what type
of player he was. The coach s style was a big part in the Titans championship but the coaches had to

Mars Rover
Mars is an interesting and mysterious planet. It is often referred to as the Red Planet. The
Romans named Mars after the god of war. The rocks, soil, and sky all have a red hue on account
of rust. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun at about 141 million miles (228 million kilometers)
and the last terrestrial planet from the Sun. Mars follows closely behind Earth but is comparatively
smaller, with about half the diameter of Earth (6,794 km) and about one tenth of Earth s mass
(6.419 x 1023 kg). Thus the force of gravity on Mars is about one third of that on Earth. Mars is
probably the planet we know the most about since it is so close to Earth, though what we know

Multiculturalism And Media Analysis
While American mainstream media has often been notorious and often ridiculed for being directed
towards specifically white audiences, the rise of populations of color has recently altered the target
audience of media industries. While minorities have made up the population long before, only
recently have industries paid attention to the needs and desires of other non white individuals.
Thus, the panelists featured in Millennials, Multiculturalism and Media: What the AudienceWants

whether that be redefining historical notions regarding race or limiting the amount of white staff

How Did The Puritans Affect The Salem Witch Trials
Puritans can be found at the beginnings of the English Reformation. In the 1500s England broke
away from the Roman Catholic Church and created a new church called the Church of England. In
1630 the Puritans left England in search of religious freedom. The Puritans wanted to leave the
Church of England to become pure by getting rid of Catholic practices. The Puritans did not want to
completely separate from the Church of England. They wanted to make reforms or changes, but
King Charles 1 would threaten the Puritans with harsh punishments if they did not obey the Church
of England. So they left England to find freedom in America. The Puritans established the
Massachusetts Bay Colony when they arrived in America. The Puritans wanted to base the colony
on the laws of God.( Puritanism ) What Puritans believed about witchcraft, forgiveness, and sin all
had an enormous impact on their culture and contributed to the Salem witch trials.
Witchcraft to the Puritan people is seen as becoming close to the devil in exchange for certain
powers to do evil. ( The Events and Causes of the Salem Witch Trials ) Puritans got their belief of
witchcraft from the bible. The Leviticus 19:31 says Do not turn to mediums or seek out spirits,
for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God. ( Bible Verses About Witchcraft ). 2
Chronicles 33:6 says He sacrificed his children in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practised

Social Work As A Social Worker
There are many helping professions. Society has doctors, therapist, teachers, nurses, etc. To help
means to assist, which means to serve. Every business has the infrastructure to serve a need
presented for whatever motives lay behind the person s reasoning. What makes social work
idiosyncratic unlike the rest is the willingness and passion to promote human well being. I yearn
and hunger to see growth of what is already innate. That is the reason psychology became my
undeclared major.
My ignorance of the social work role did create misconceptions and fears. I knew I had to be in
some helping profession. I was not sure if I would do so through occupational therapy, psychology,
teaching, or social work. I wanted to be a social worker, but I was afraid of the danger associated
with it by giving way to stereotypes. No one wants to be shot or harassed due to taking someone
s child from a terrible environment. This is what I defined social work as. I was a psychology
major with a niche for social and child developmental psychology. I as three years into the Bachelor
of Science Psychology program and I began to develop a distaste for psychology methodology.
The field appeared to be competitive and only research or clinical driven, which I believed confine
the goals I set for myself. I was tired of rehearing the same old man psychological theories that had
a narrow scope. The competition was not intimidating, but it was unnecessary and defeating to turn

A Linotype is a machine that was used back in the day to produce lines of words as single strips
of metal and it was mainly used for newspapers. The Copperplate typeface has many elements
from different sources. For example, the typeface has a resemblance to stone carvings, lapidary
engravings and classic roman typefaces. Frederic W. Goudy named this typeface Copperplate
because from 1530 up to the 19th century copperplate engraving was a very popular technique
to create illustrated material. Copperplate engraving consists of engraving or etching some type
of design into a plate made of copper. He meant this typeface to be used by Linotype machines
for the production of newspapers and many other types of printing and so it has AB and BC
designations to help distinguish the difference between the capital letters and the small caps. It
also has a numbering system that tells us the difference in weight and width of the typeface. The
Copperplate typeface was first released by Goudy as a font family which contained many
weights and variations. It was designed in all caps and small caps because it was meant to be
used for headlines and header design, also for stationary and society printing. Copperplate typeface
imitates lapidary inscriptions, this is why it is categorized as a glyphic typeface. Another
characteristic of glyphic typefaces is that the contrast of the stroke weight in a character is
minimum and we can observe this in all the

Building A Successful Lead Generation Campaign
One of the main objectives (and one of the most important) of lead generation services is to
generate leads through business to business marketing. This is also known as B2B marketing. It
involves classifying prospective customers and qualifying their probability to buy in advance of
making a sales call. The purpose of a lead generation can vary from either driving sales leads or
sign up, but in the end they have the same goal and that to get prospects to raise their hands.
Before we go into how to build a successful lead generation campaign, we need to understand a
few basic terms. Let s review these terms below. Basic Terms of Lead Generation Lead: A
prospect that has some level of potential in becoming a customer. The individual usually shows
interests and provides his/her information. Prospect: A person regarded as likely to succeed or as a
potential customer, client, etc. Lead Generation: is the initiation of consumer interest or inquiry
into products or services of a business. Lead Generation Campaign: is the process of capturing and
simulating interest in a service or product for purpose of developing sales. This includes a strategy
using a particular media source and an offer to create inbound leads. Nurturing: The process of
moving an unqualified inquiry to the point where it becomes qualified. Some inquiries qualify right
away. Many, however, need some nurturing through constant contact and direct communications

power, the power of Trujillo and trying to do things his way and be cruel about what he believed

Finding literary elements in a novel is easy from most people. It shows that authors are not
always about just writing but they put in the studies of english. It helps make their book really
well, which will make people who read it point out more of the literary elements. In the time of
the Butterflies, it states That first day was the hardest. I was crazy grief, all right. When Dede
and Tono walked me into the house, all I wanted to do was like down and die. I could hear the
babies crying farr off and voices calming the and Norris sobbing along with her aunt Mate, and
all their grief pulled me back from mine. But first, I slept for a long time, days it seemed. When I
woke up dedes voice was in my ear, in volking the lord s name. And on the third day He rose
again... (200). In this quote it shows how she is comparing how Jesus rose and came alive again.
Which she felt like she was dead, and she was rising again. This is a part of figurative language
because it is comparing her and Jesus. Julia Alvarez has used short sentence for the kind of
sentence structure. She wrote in something so short such as And the third day he rose again.
This shows imagery because I can and someone reading this can imagine how she was feeling
and maybe how jesus rose from the dead. Diction is a part of many novels. In the quote it shows
diction because you can tell how the way Julia Alvarez wrote the book. The way that Julia
alvarez stated the quote above shows diction and the way the character is feeling. In the novel it
states, And that s how I got free. I don t mean just going to sleepaway school on a train with a
trunkful of new things. I mean in my head after I got to Inmaculada and met Sinita and saw what
happened to Lina and realized that I d just left a small cage to go into a bigger one, the size of the
whole country. . this shows how she was comparing the cage to Dominican Republic. As they do not

where it s just them and their insanity. These characters are present in many different stories. Lewis

A Report On The Production Of The Factory s Energy
EXCUTIVE SUMMARY XYZ is a small to medium sized factory that is almost 40 years old. In
order to keep up with the changing energy regulations and customer expectations the energy
consumption of the factory and its efficiency has to be evaluated. This baseline study provides
an assessment of the factory s energy use and sets forward several important recommendations
that will ensure more efficient energy consumption. MAIN DOCUMENT XYZ is a small to
medium manufacturer of vegetarian pies that employees less than 250 individuals. XYZ s
factory is part of several units built in the 1970s within an industrial estate. Since then there has
been no significant modifications to the factory.XYZ s factory uses two main energy sources.
The machinery in the factory including cutters, pie filling machines, conveyors and chillers are
electrically powered. The cookers and the building s heating system are fed by steam and hot
water from a 1970s oil fired boiler. The purpose of this audit is to establish a baseline from which
to improve the energy and environmental performance of the factory. In the history of mankind
energy use has been part and parcel of his daily life and progression towards betterment of life.

Environmental Interest for Wolves at Yellowstone National Park
Wolves play an important environmental interest in Yellowstone for many reasons. Wolves
keep the world of predators and prey in balance. After wolves eat, the leftovers from their kills
feeds many animals like scavengers, bald, golden eagles, magpies, coyotes, ravens, and bears.
Without wolves to share land with coyotes they will kill more elks mostly on pocket gophers,

It s an environmental interest and benefits to the recovery of wolves because wolves are
predator of elks and bringing them back will reduce overpopulation. Because of the growing
population of elks while wolves were in extinction, this resulted to an imbalance in the ecosystem
and overfeeding on vegetation, that s why is very important to make sure we have wolves in
Yellowstone because if we don t then it will result in an imbalance in our ecosystem because one
organism needs the other one to survive and be balanced.
In conclusion, wolves are important to balance the ecosystem and renew our ecosystems. They
improve the territory and increase populations of a lot of species from birds of prey to pronghorn,
and even trout. The presence of wolves impacts the population and behavior of their prey, changing
the chasing and hunting patterns of prey animals and how they move about the land. This, in turn,
flows throughout plants and animal s areas, often changing the landscape itself. For this reason,
wolves are described as a important species, whose existence is fundamental to maintaining the

  • 2. St. Vincent Narrative Growing up in suburbia, I struggled to find my place as a first generation American. I did not appreciate being called African American because it is an inaccurate way of describing my heritage, but I felt pushy and pretentious if I told people to call me Caribbean American. My dad s family still lives in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and we visit them every few years, so I had to confront these issues during my familys last trip to St. Vincent. I liked the idea of living in St. Vincent because of the entertaining stories that my cousins and aunts told me about the island. It had been so long since my previous trip to St. Vincent, so I had idealized and unrealistic expectations of what St. Vincent was like. My aunt had told me that... Even if the edge is over 100 feet away, I can still picture myself tripping and accidentally going over the edge. Because of this fear, I absolutely did not want to go on the hike. I pouted, whined, and did everything I could to resist the adventure. The hike aside, the car ride to the base of the volcano is terrifying enough because of the twisty, mountainous roads in addition to left hand side driving. And why was no else concerned that the volcano might erupt while we were on it? Unfortunately for me (at the time), my family and I made it to the starting point of the trail. I trudged up the volcano, trailing behind the rest of my family, and after two terrifying and exhausting hours, we made it to the summit. It was breathtaking. We were literally in the clouds, we could see Saint Lucia in the distance, and seeing the steam rolling off the bottom of the crater was unexpectedly exhilarating. I could never have imagined what a volcano would look like, and I am so grateful that my family forced me to go I will never miss an opportunity like that just because I do not feel like ... Overcome resistance Reducing or overcoming resistance to change depends on identifying source of resistance; it also depends on a leader s ability to be task oriented when it is required. Here are 3 major strategies to deal with resistance to change (Cummings and Worley, 1993): Empathy and support: this is the first step to know those who are experiencing troubles of change, giving them possible ways of support, it is important to let those people notice that they are taken care of, and a more friendly relationship will be made. Communication: people tend to resist when things become uncertain, an effective communication is strongly demanded, it also help people prepare for the change. Participation and involvement: it is a very good idea to get those who are facing change involve directly in planning and implementing change, participation is the best way to overcome resistance. No matter how we think change may be, there is one thing that we shouldn t forget is that change can be exciting and can bring new and positive opportunities for all. She has forgotten how to talk in her isolation, through the decades of her solitary existence. She has forgotten the man who saved her, an FBI agent who risked everything to be her father. All she knows was that he was the one who truly cared about her. In the science fiction novel The Passage, by Justin Cronin, the unique idea of familyis explored in depth. The author beautifully illustrates how family can be found in the most unexpected places, even when everything you ve ever known is falling down around you. One of the first times the idea of family is fully explored is in an emotionally charged moment between Wolgast and Amy. Amy is in a coma after being injected with the virus. Wolgast has bravely sat with her through day and night, with no protection from the potential for a deadly virus. Amy, he thought as the stars began to fall, everywhere and all around; and he tried to fill his mind with just her name, his daughter s name, to help him from his life. Amy, Amy, Amy. This is a huge example of the importance of family in The Passage. Wolgast is thinking of Amy as his daughter now, because that is what she has become to him. Quality Dimensions And Measures Tables Quality Dimensions and Measures Tables In 2000, a Cincinnati nursing home had an unfortunate accident in which a bottle of nitrogen was mistaken for pure oxygen. As a result, four residents passed away. This situation provides an opportunity for organizations to look at how their processes may lead to potential failures. It is also important to understand how certain conditions can influence errors and violation within the workplace. In this incidence, OSHA turned the case over to the FDA for further investigation. Health care administrators should understand the differences between the two agencies so that adverse events are reported to the correctly. Another vital role for a health care administrator is to understand the five principles of the Culture of Safety model, how the model could have been used to avoid this error, and how to apply them within their institutions to avoid other potential mistakes. Perrow s Factors and Higher Risks of Accidents Health care institutions are pitted against a barrage of potential hazards, some of which can be life threatening to the patient and employee. In the relentless attempt to secure and save lives, Charles Perrow suggests that complex systems are prone to inevitable accidents identifying three universal elements (Sollecito Johnson, 2013, pp. 251 252): 1.Human error regardless of the level of skill and training will eventually falter. 2.Systems have natural flaws and multiple factors will trigger failure within the ... They focus on the struggles of the band and their often very normal lives. Mad Tiger is a film about a Japanese punk band called Peelander Z who live and play in NYC. It s an intimate look of the relationship between two band members and if you read between the lines you can see where their troubles start. Peelander Z reminds me a lot of the band Gwar. Their music is nothing to write home about, even Kengo says the band is based on 10% music and 90% theatre. I listened to some of their songs and didn t like what I heard. I am not really a punk fan but it s easy to hear that this band plays basic entry level silly sounding punk rock and doesn t focus on creating anything interesting or original. The directors do a nice job of showing the two sides of the band, it s self described Japanese action comic punk stage shows, and it s troubled relationships and personal struggles. Filmmakers Michael Haertlein and Jonathan Yi have few directing credits on IMBD but both are accomplished camera men. The cinematography in this doc at times seems amateur but it may be a punk aesthetic they are trying to achieve but it s difficult to tell. Most of the shots are three quarter talking head shots and I would bet the entire film was shot on a DSLR camera. Thus, artists such as Mosaccio and Giotto depicted art that unlike the Middle Ages, showed emotions, feelings, and bright colors, thus demonstrating the deep concern for naturalism in the society. In making this bet, fifteen dogs are granted the gift of intelligence allowing them to be able to communicate through their own newly formed language and become self aware. At first, the dogs band together to form a pack, but quickly realize how language complicates their ability to work together. With the gift of intelligence, the dogs become individuals and think separately rather than working with a pack mentality. There is no longer harmony between the dogs, but instead a fight for dominance and a battle of intelligence. We will identify how language eroded the pack through disagreements and violence as the dogs become aware of their status and differences. The dogs first run into difficulty with their gift of intelligence when it becomes obvious to them that there are different levels of comprehension of their ability to communicate using their new language. Prince is a dogwho shows a deeper understanding and love for language compared to the others. The industrial revolution of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century served as the impetus to the creation of new technologies that helped interconnect various parts of the world. Kennedy s speech on GDP and the pros and cons Robert F Keneddy speech on GDP highlighted the unique aspects associated with the understanding of GDP. The speech talked about the meaning and importance of GDP and the misinterpretations that are often attached with the concept. He was of the view that accumulation of material things has remained a main focus of economic agents and doing so community values and community excellence are often compromised. In his speech he presented an important concept that GDP cannot be used as a measure of welfare of wellbeing of the economy because it does not take into account the health of individuals, their standard of living, quality of education provided to the individuals etc. In this way it is not a good option to rely on GDP while having an idea about the development of an economy. There are various other important aspects associated with the economy in general and community in particular that determine wellbeing of the economic agents and these aspects are totally ignored by the concept of GDP. GDP is unable to take into account the strengths of marriages, the intelligence of the public, and the integrity of the public institutions. These moral aspects of the community play significant role in its economic development too. • 23. The Importance of Safety in Coal Mining Companies Employee Safety Importance of Safety One of the most vital investments made in any mining company is to ensure that their people return safe and sound at the end of a day of work. In the current era of rapid industrial growth, managing the impacts of this growth on the safety and wellbeing of employees is critical. The impact also extends towards the mining companies, overall labor pool and the constant threat of mine closures and job losses. Whenever there is an accident or death in a mine, companies face routine shutdowns ordered by the government for investigations, and work stoppages by union members. This causes companies to suffer huge production losses. Government and the Focus on Safety The government has adopted a strong stance on Coal Mining Safety and has extended a commitment towards increasing general safety for mineworkers. It is envisaged that greater cooperation could contribute to the safety efforts. Government continues to engage in constructive discussions to engage with both business and labour on how to improve on safety. More interesting is the way musical creation is changing as a result of new technologies, whether we like it or not. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its pointless to look for the original blueprint of a digital representation, because it s independent of the hardware it s stored in, and meaningful only in the information it encodes. Hyperreality results from a loss of distinction between the representations and the things they re intended to represent. In our culture, the separation between a song and the digital file of a song is becoming trivial. Computers allow information to be torn free of its original context, and reinterpreted upon retrieval. Representation engines are the ideal enablers of hyperreality, giving almost limitless power to reorder simulacra upon simulacra. The internet takes the representational capacities of computers, and spreads them over a vast symbolic network. Anyone with an internet connection instantly gains manipulative control over a whole world of digital abstractions. These have the unique property of not being tied down to any specific physical origin. It follows that they re infinitely recreatable, and intimately tied to their user defined context. This decontextualization began, to a lesser extent, with the advent of audio cassettes, allowing the creation of mix tapes.
