- 2. Objective • To simulate natural gingival contours on a complete denture by waxing or festooning the gingival portion.
- 3. Objective • The palate of the maxillary denture should be of even thickness throughout, should provide room for the tongue, and not interfere with speech in any way. • The palate may be completely smooth or have rugae in the anterior portion • The denture must be self‐cleansing. Holes or rough areas provide food traps. Interdental papillae must be smooth and flat or slightly convex. • The lingual flange of the mandibular denture should be slightly concave but not so much as to cause dislodgment of the denture by the tongue.
- 4. Objective • Ambient light should be deflected off the denture. This can be accomplished by stippling in the wax‐up or on the processed acrylic denture. • The denture must replace lost bony structure; therefore, the canine eminence (at the corner of the mouth) and the gingival bulge (on the buccal surface).
- 8. REQUIREMENT OF THE WAXING THE POLISHED SURFACE • They should duplicate the covered soft tissues as accurately as possible realistic, not exaggerated. • The borders, both labial and buccal should full the vestibules. • Notches should be provided to accommodate the mucous membrane attachment (frenum), both in size and direction. • The contour of the facial flanges should be compatible with the cheek and lips. • The contour of the lingual flanges should be compatible with the tongue. • The palatal section of the maxillary denture should be nearly a reproduction of the patient palate and rugae. • Avoid a bulky wax-up. The additional bulk of acrylic resin may contribute to porosity and dimensional processing error.
