This document discusses how First Nations and Métis peoples used local aquatic plants. Many plants were eaten raw or used as ingredients. Cattails provided food, medicine, and other uses. Arrowhead tubers and water lily leaves were also consumed or used. While most plants were safe to use, water hemlock was very poisonous. Moose were often spotted near aquatic plants and were hunted along shorelines. First Nations peoples made use of many parts of the moose.
