WAREHOUSE
Layout Of Pharmaceutical Warehouse
The dimensions of the warehouse will be determined by the storage needs
which depend on the number of drugs and kinds of material held
It is better to have something too big than too small: a cramped
warehouse is difficult to work in and keep tidy, and any necessary
increases in stock or activity are awkward.
The security of the goods stored necessitate that the doors, locks,
windows and even ceilings are solidly built.

Activities Are Associated With Product Warehousing
Activities are associated with product warehousing, such as
Receiving and storing, protection to goods against heat, wind,
storm, moisture and also cut down losses due to spoilage,
wastage
Collecting customer orders,
Picking, Labelling, and repackaging the ordered goods,
Making them ready for physical transportation.
4
Storage condition:-
Light - Many API should be stored in dark room. - API should not
be directly exposed to sunlight and not to be issued until and unless it
is required in manufacturing.
Air - All containers should be hermetically closed. - Avoid prolonged
unpack age material. - Premises should be ventilated.
Temperature - Temp. in warehouse must not exceed 25-30°C.
Deep freeze -15 to 0°C Lyophilised drugs
Refrigerator 0 to + 6°C Hormones, vaccines
Cooled +6 to +15°C Liq. Dosage forms
Room temperature + 15 to + 30°C Solid Dosage forms
5
Shelving
•Solid and stable shelving is vital.
•In tropical countries where termites attack wood, metal structures are
preferred; if they can be taken apart, it is easy to adjust the distances
between the shelves to suit the goods to be stored.
6
Expired Products
A. Expiry must appear on the package and/or on the product.
B. The expired products must be removed from the stock of the
products. Stored in a locked area. - Secondly, these products are stored
by form to be destroyed in compliance with law and regulations.
7
Logistics Process
Logistics is the management of the flow of things between the point of
origin and the point of consumption
8
Advantages of Successful logistics process
 Reduce Mfg.-to-Mkt. cost
 Improve business efficiency
 Reduce waste and scrap
 Increase market confidence & security of supplies
9
Cost Breakup
The logistics of physical items usually involves the integration of infor
mation flow, material handling, production, packaging, inventory,
transportation, warehousing, and often security.
10
Various Logistics companies providing there service across the Globe
11
CONCLUSION
Warehousing and Logistics plays a vital role in flow of good
from manufacturer to consumer thus it is one of the most
integral part of a pharmaceutical company. It provides proper
transport, storage and security to the goods thus improves
business efficiency.
