- VISUAL Jobshop is a comprehensive solution to help small manufacturers gain control over all aspects of their business, increase productivity, improve efficiencies and generate more profits. Jobshop’s origins go back 10 years to 1992, when LSA delivered VM. VM was originally a make to order software package for small and midsize companies. Throughout the course of 10 years, VM grew into a true ERP system with a lot of modules that a smaller manufacturer wouldn’t need. So LSA took the core modules of VM that smaller manufacturers could use, and put them into Jobshop. Even now, Jobshop has grown to facilitate both Make to Order and Mixed mode manufacturing in that you can build and purchase to order, to stock, or any combination of both. There is also sales order functionality that allows you to sell and ship from stock, make to sales order lines, take purchase orders for similar parts with multiple delivery dates, and consolidate multiple sales orders onto individual work orders. The typical Jobshop customer employs up to 30 employees in a manufacturing operation that is confined to a single location. VISUAL Jobshop is a complete system that encapsulates all aspects of your operation - from product definition and quoting, all the way through shipping and invoicing.
- The “Manufacturing Window” in VISUAL Jobshop is not only a combination BOM and Routing, but also contains information on how to manufacture (specs, instructions, links to application files – CAD/CAM drawings) and what time/cost has or will be transacted against the job. This window is available for Engineering Masters – where you define what you want to build and the estimated costs to build it, Quote Masters and Work Orders – where you move from the estimates defined by Engineering to the actuals of materials issued, time allocated and costs against a job. In the Manufacturing Window, you can “Visually” see what you are making. White header cards indicate the finished product or sub assembly/legs, material requirements are defined in green cards, operations or processes that consume them are defined in red cards and outsourced operations are defined in blue cards. On each card there is drill down capabilities that provide detailed information. You red cards define the operation, and key information like set-up time and run times – expressed in different ways - pieces per minute/minute per piece, per hour, per load etc., move hours and quantities, detailed costs by time frames, burden or percentages, links to application files (CAD drawings), operation specifications, etc. The same with Material and Outsourced cards – drill down details include quantity per, dimensions, scrap/yield, detailed costs, specs, purchasing information, etc.. Clicking in a header card will provide both estimated and actual costing. On Work Orders, there are status bars to graphically indicate what percentage of materials have been issued to the job, what percentage of labor has been transacted on individual operations and the actual costs of each that will be put to the job.. The benefit is that everyone in your company can quickly see and assess everything they need to understand the manufacturing process – operations, materials, instructions to build and time/costs that are estimated and actualized.
- Lilly Software’s VISUAL Manufacturing was the first manufacturing system built entirely on the Windows platform. VISUAL Jobshop continues the tradition as a native Windows system, utilizing the latest Microsoft technology to deliver a rich, graphical view for its users. Advanced features include the ability to access and use several different modules simultaneously. An example is where you can open different Engineering Masters and drag and drop entire Masters, sub-assemblies, materials and operations from one to another – with all the background details (costs, application file links, specs, etc.) flowing along. Some Jobshop users will create numerous sub assemblies as Engineering Masters to “drag and drop” onto basic Engineering Masters to speed product definition. They can also drag and drop the sub assemblies onto basic work orders to quickly and accurately configure new orders.
