Goodfabs needed a new business system to replace their use of Excel for tracking over 1,600 jobs per year across production, finance, and supply chain. A custom .NET web application was developed to integrate accurate real-time data on sales, products, pricing, production, customers, and finances. This new system provides remote access to data, faster data entry, improved reporting and decision making, and has helped Goodfabs increase efficiency and save over 1,500 work hours per year.

5. First, we set to understand Goodfabs’ business model, processes, people, customers and systems, through a number of internal workshops and interviews. With the database design locked down, we focused on the ‘quick wins’ in terms of functionality and process. Since launch we have delivered several major upgrades to the system.

6. THE OUTCOME
With Excel removed, the business is now enjoying a significant increase in data accuracy, instant reporting, faster delivery times, happier customers and a drop in labour costs. The system is regularly enhanced and expanded through our continuous improvement process and it now includes more channels to market, one of which is mobile.
