Our website was designed to provide helpful information to college
students regarding finances and the ability to manage them
efficiently while in college.

Usability Test Plan
Test Event Summary
A usability test was completed with
hopes of receiving feedback in order
to make our website as best and
helpful as it could be; also, we
completed this usability test to see how
well our participants could complete a
task using the website that was
designed.
During the usability testing, the
participants were given a certain task
scenario and then were asked to
complete a list of tasks.

environment and
equipment.
The testing was done in the
Texas Tech library lobby. The
equipment used were two lap
tops, a note pad, the consent
forms, and the pre and post
test surveys. One lap top
was used for the participants
to view the website, while the
other lap top recorded facial
expressions and audio.

Tasks & Scenarios
Our scenario was that you
are student who has just
checked their bank account
and see you have spent
money on things that are
not needed. You look up
ways to save money and
stumble upon our website.
The tasks was to help
students to find a way to
save money in college to
reduce stress and enjoy
their experience more.

Usability Test
The test section was used by
recording the audio and
visual expression of the
participants as they looked
through our website making
comments they liked and or
disliked about out work. Due
to time, we tested three
people.

Methods
We completed out testing onApril
18, 2017. They were all chosen
random. Before starting the test
we gave each person a short
description of the study while they
filled out a consent form and a
pre-test about their age, biggest
stress factor in college, where
majority of their money goes, and
if they would be interested in a
website about college finances.
We had a total of three
participants, 2 females and 1
male, they were all between the
ages of 20-23.
Participants
Each session lasted about 5
minutes. We explained the study
and each person looked through
the website, making comments
out loud while they were being
recorded. When they were
finished they completed a post-
test that asked their comments
and suggestions.

separate links for the steps
- 33.33% said we should make our
slide pictures longer
- 66.7% rated our website good
while 33.33% rated it excellent

User Feedback
Our feedback from our usability test was focused on editorial details rather than
content.
Spacing
Listing the 3 main points on their own individual page rather than at the bottom of the
survey results
Transitions
Our most frequent recommendation was to slow our speed of transitions between
survey results so readers are able to view them comfortably
Accessibility
One of our participants suggested we link each topic to their respective instructions

Recommendations/
Conclusion
Our usability testing and research provided evidence that users prefer to
have access to a website compared to having a physical copy of a
brochure, pamphlet, etc. As technology is becoming more and more
prominent in our society today, it would be more ideal to provide our users
with a website with helpful information. This website would be helpful for
college students who are struggling with finances and managing them
efficiently.
Our next steps are to make any final revisions to our website based on the
feedback that was received from our users.

  • 6. 6| Methods Testing environment and equipment. The testing was done in the Texas Tech library lobby. The equipment used were two lap tops, a note pad, the consent forms, and the pre and post test surveys. One lap top was used for the participants to view the website, while the other lap top recorded facial expressions and audio. 03 Test Methods Tasks & Scenarios Our scenario was that you are student who has just checked their bank account and see you have spent money on things that are not needed. You look up ways to save money and stumble upon our website. The tasks was to help students to find a way to save money in college to reduce stress and enjoy their experience more.
  • 7. 7| Usability Test The test section was used by recording the audio and visual expression of the participants as they looked through our website making comments they liked and or disliked about out work. Due to time, we tested three people. 03 Test Methods Test Session
  • 8. 8| Methods We completed out testing onApril 18, 2017. They were all chosen random. Before starting the test we gave each person a short description of the study while they filled out a consent form and a pre-test about their age, biggest stress factor in college, where majority of their money goes, and if they would be interested in a website about college finances. We had a total of three participants, 2 females and 1 male, they were all between the ages of 20-23. Participants Each session lasted about 5 minutes. We explained the study and each person looked through the website, making comments out loud while they were being recorded. When they were finished they completed a post- test that asked their comments and suggestions. 03 Test Methods Context of Test
  • 9. 9| Testing and Event: Results and Findings g - 100% found our website easy to navigate - 100% said they would recommend this website to someone else - 33.33% said we should make 3 separate links for the steps - 33.33% said we should make our slide pictures longer - 66.7% rated our website good while 33.33% rated it excellent 04 Results and Findings

Spacing Listing the 3 main points on their own individual page rather than at the bottom of the survey results Transitions Our most frequent recommendation was to slow our speed of transitions between survey results so readers are able to view them comfortably Accessibility One of our participants suggested we link each topic to their respective instructions 04 Results and Findings
  • 11. 11| Recommendations/ Conclusion Our usability testing and research provided evidence that users prefer to have access to a website compared to having a physical copy of a brochure, pamphlet, etc. As technology is becoming more and more prominent in our society today, it would be more ideal to provide our users with a website with helpful information. This website would be helpful for college students who are struggling with finances and managing them efficiently. Our next steps are to make any final revisions to our website based on the feedback that was received from our users.
