The company was founded in September 2001 by a team of
computer scientists and engineers from the University of
Crete in Greece, and Critical Publics, a U.S. based group
specializing in the application of new technologies to the
communications needs of corporations and public
organizations.
Virtual Trip is located at the Science & Technology Park of
Crete, at the city of Heraklion, from where it provides a range
of services in the fields of systems consulting, design and
back-end software engineering. The company has an
international presence through the operations of the Critical
Publics group in London.
The company aims to provide its services to the global
market, utilizing its considerable expertise in specialized
sectors such as digital security, high performance computing,
Internet systems development,and systems software.
The Virtual Trip model is based on exploiting the cluster of
specialist knowledge and expertise built-up around the
University of Crete and the Foundation of Research &
Technology, Hellas (FORTH) to deliver competitively priced
top end consulting, design and development work globally,
eliminating geographic barriers.
Virtual Trip not only provides its services as a primary
contractor but will also undertake the back-end development
work for projects as a member of consortia and as a
subcontractor.
