From a technological point of view, the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) philosophy, which is increasingly spreading associated to the A3 concept: anytime-anywhere-anydevice (access to your place of work from anywhere, at any time and from any device) makes virtual desktops (VDI) technology the most outstanding alternative to the current corporate hardware in the academic environment. On the other hand, from an economic point of view, it arises as a solution to the problem of the current microcomputing renewal.
