Writing Vagrantfiles is tedious, especially when you’re setting up a multi-VM environment. Typically, people will copy/paste code blocks that define hosts, but that becomes unwieldy. However, a Vagrantfile is “just” Ruby, so can’t we simplify things a bit using the power of the language? Turns out, we can! In this presentation I propose a reusable Vagrantfile that reads the configuration of the environment from a simple YAML file.

This document discusses how Between, a mobile app for couples, migrated their photo architecture to reduce storage costs by 70%. The old architecture generated and stored multiple thumbnail sizes for each photo, using 6.6 billion thumbnails and 738 TB of storage. The new architecture resizes thumbnails on demand using the fast Skia library, saving the original high resolution photos as smaller WebP files. Migration of 1.1 billion existing photos to the new system took 4 days using Spot instances. This reduced storage usage by 75% to 184 TB and number of S3 objects by 82%, cutting total photo costs by 68%.
Reinvent recap
The AWS re:Invent 2016 conference saw over 32,000 attendees and featured over 400 breakout sessions across specialized tracks. There were also over 4 hours of keynotes announcing 15 or more completely new AWS services as well as enhancements to many existing services. Some of the major new services included Amazon Polly for text-to-speech, Amazon Lex for building conversational interfaces, Amazon Rekognition for image analysis, and Amazon Athena for interactive SQL queries on S3 data. A wide range of other services were also announced or improved.

Vim
Vim is a text editor that comes pre-installed on most Linux systems and macOS. It can be customized through the vimrc configuration file and plugins can be easily installed using Pathogen. Vim has different modes like Command mode, Insert mode, and Visual mode and shortcuts called verbs, modifiers, and text objects to perform actions. It also supports macros to record and replay sequences of commands.

Vim 入門

Vim can also be packaged and run as an AWS Lambda function by creating a zip file containing the Vim executable and libraries and specifying the handler as the entry point.
Malware analysis using volatility
Volatility is an open source memory forensics tool that analyzes RAM dumps to detect malware. It supports Windows, Linux, Mac and Android and uses plugins to parse memory images and extract useful information. Some key things Volatility can do include detecting injected code, unpacked files, hooks, and kernel driver modifications left by malware in memory. It allows analyzing ransomware locked systems, unpacking encrypted files, and dumping executable content of running processes for further reverse engineering.

The last few DockerCon events have covered the introduction of multi-platform image capabilities into the Docker registry and engine releases. Now it's time to put these features to good use building applications across architectures and running them all in a heterogeneous Docker Swarm! In this talk we'll cover the new `docker manifest` command for making multi-architecture images; how to emulate architectures in docker containers on your own machine; and give a live demonstration of these capabilities with a Docker Swarm consisting of workers of different CPU architectures, including armhf, ppc64le, s390x, and x86_64. We'll also share some pointers for making sure your project is multi-platform ready! Three Takeaways: 1. Attendees will be introduced to manifest lists and how to create multi-arch images using the new 'docker manifest' command. 2.
