Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

2. Vertical Neighborhood
Typology of thesis : study and design based
Aim :
Reinventing the very idea of neighborhood to address urban sprawl and overcome
decentralization with high quality, high density design by going vertical.
Introduction:
Due to the migration of the population from the smaller cities, towns and villages to the bigger
cities results in the rise of the population. The demand of the spaces grows and the availability
of the land reduces. As a result the buildings go vertical to fulfill the raising demands. This is the
already known paradigm.
When talking abut any master plan of the city, the planners talk about fixed land use. It is
already assumed that all city functions have to sit on the ground. So in a neighborhood, some
spaces are allotted to residences, some for commercial and hence forth. This is such a primitive
concept. It belongs to a time when building high was only a technical dream. Today the dream is
becoming reality and very fast improving too. The aim here is to bring it altogether in a single
building.
3. Vertical Neighborhood
Methodology :
Study of skyscrapers.
Case study of various skyscrapers and high-rise
Study of various forms for the building are finalize a suitable form
Requirements :
• Residential spaces
• Commercial spaces
• Community spaces
• Educational facilities (primary and secondary school)
Site :
The site is located in bhiwindi thane highway Mumbai where an on going township
project
4. Vertical Neighborhood
Scope :
The main objective here is to design a VERTICAL NEIGHBOURHOOD. The aim here is to
allot various spaces in a single built form with smart planning. Offices, commercial, residential,
educational and community space.
Limitations :
Since the scale of the project is huge (allotting various spaces and an area of approximate 29
acres) few aspects like the core part of the skyscraper, wind and earthquake factors and
major structural aspects are not dealt in detail. No major studies will be done on the thermal
conditions also. Only residential spaces are designed. Other spaces are allotted at suitable
positions.
