This document analyzes solar eruptions during solar cycle 23 from 1996-2001 using data from the SOHO mission. It finds that both the rate of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and their average and median speeds increased from solar minimum to maximum. The CME rate increased by a factor of 10, while speeds increased by a factor of 2. There was also a poor correlation found between metric and DH type II radio bursts, attributed to different Alfven speeds in their source regions.
