Studies have found the vapor from e-cigarettes can damage lung cells and trigger lung inflammation and cancer due to heavy metals and substances like formaldehyde. Recent research in Japan found e-cigarette vapor contains higher levels of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, both carcinogens, than traditional cigarette smoke. E-cigarettes pose unknown health risks and may be more dangerous than regular cigarettes.
