The purpose of this study is to determine the relative advantage of using a helically coiled heat exchanger against a straight tube heat exchanger. It is found that the heat transfer in helical circular tubes is higher as compared to Straight tube due to their shape. Helical coils offer advantageous over straight tubes due to their compactness and increased heat transfer coefficient. The increased heat transfer coefficients are a consequence of the curvature of the coil, which induces centrifugal forces to act on the moving fluid, resulting in the development of secondary flow. The curvature of the coil governs the centrifugal force while the pitch (or helix angle) influences the torsion to which the fluid is subjected to the centrifugal force results in the development of secondary flow. Due to the curvature effect, the fluid streams in the outer side of the pipe moves faster than the fluid streams in the inner side of the pipe. In current work the fluid to fluid heat exchange is taken into consideration. Most of the investigations on heat transfer coefficients are for constant wall temperature or constant heat flux. The effectiveness, overall heat transfer coefficient, effect of cold water flow rate on effectiveness of heat exchanger when hot water mass flow rate is kept constant and effect of hot water flow rate on effectiveness when cold water flow rate kept constant studied and compared for parallel flow, counter flow arrangement of Helical coil and Straight tube heat exchangers. All readings were taken at steady state condition of heat exchanger. The result shows that the heat transfer coefficient is affected by the geometry of the heat exchanger. Helical coil heat exchanger are superior in all aspect studied here.

Steady heat transfer enhancement has been studied in helically coiled-tube heat exchangers. The outer side of the wall of the heat exchanger contains a helical corrugation which makes a helical rib on the inner side of the tube wall to induce additional swirling motion of fluid particles. Numerical calculations have been carried out to examine different geometrical parameters and the impact of flow and thermal boundary conditions for the heat transfer rate in laminar and transitional flow regimes. Calculated results have been compared to existing empirical formula and experimental tests to investigate the validity of the numerical results in case of common helical tube heat exchanger and additionally results of the numerical computation of corrugated straight tubes for laminar and transition flow have been validated with experimental tests available in the literature. Comparison of the flow and temperature fields in case of common helical tube and the coil with spirally corrugated wall configuration are discussed. Heat exchanger coils with helically corrugated wall configuration show 80–100% increase for the inner side heat transfer rate due to the additionally developed swirling motion while the relative pressure drop is 10–600% larger compared to the common helically coiled heat exchangers. New empirical Co-relation has been proposed for the fully developed inner side heat transfer prediction in case of helically corrugated wall configuration.

Abstract Role of the conical spring array for the heat transfer enhancement and pressure drop change in a pipe with constant heat flux boundary condition was investigated. Three different arrangements of conical spring array inserts were used in the experimental setup. Conical spring inserts with diverging conical spring, converging-diverging conical spring and converging conical spring array inserts arrangements were used. Water was used as a working fluid in the experimental setup. It was found that use of conical spring array inserts arrangement leads to enhancement in heat transfer. Higher heat transfer rate was achieved in the divergent spring array arrangement than the converging-diverging and converging arrangement. However, maximum friction factor is achieved in the diverging spring array insert arrangement. By increasing the Reynolds Number for different turbulator arrangement, the significant increase in Nusselt number was obtained. The enhancement in Nusselt Number for the diverging, converging-diverging, converging conical spring array arrangement was 645% ,431% and 259% respectively. The heat transfer enhancement efficiency can be evaluated based on the power consumption per unit mass of fluid. Heat transfer enhancement efficiencies were found for the divergent spring array arrangement up to 277% and for the convergent-divergent spring arrangement up to 212% and for the convergent spring array arrangement up to 153%. Now a day’s a geometrically modified Helical coil heat exchangers are widely using in industrial applications like cryogenic state processes, air conditioning, thermal nuclear reactors and waste heat recovery due to their compact size and high heat transfer coefficient. Advantage of using helical coils over straight tubes is that the residence time spread is reduced, allowing helical coils to be used to reduce axial dispersion in tubular reactors. In this study, numerical investigation of the influence of geometrical parameters such as tube diameter d , coil radius R , and coil pitch p on overall heat transfer coefficient in helical double tube heat exchangers are performed using a professional CFD software FLUENT. In recent years, numerous styles were introduced for heat exchangers that apply to completely different applications sadly, their heat transfer co efficient wasnt reliable at different operational conditions. the standard of the heat changed rate wasnt optimized and there have been many deficiencies and errors in styles. The heat transfer of the copper material is enhanced in comparison with other material unfortunately thermal resistance is reduced with an increase in pressure drop thus enhancing the heat transfer on the heat exchanger. Helical architecture is often designed with a clear motive of compact size and also address heat transfer co efficient and other ancillary attributes efficiently and effectively. So the better material is suggested for an industrial heat exchanger according to the applications is Copper with the basis of simulation results. The geometry and different dimension parameter of the helical coil show that the proposed study in different material properties and different mass flow rates to heat transfer are maximum in different parameter helical coil heat exchangers. Finally, the heat transfer increase for the copper material compared to another material but with the increase in pressure drop the corresponding thermal resistance decreases which allow the improved heat transfer rate and the rate increases from Aluminum to Bronze to Copper. With the drop in temperature, the thermal resistance is reduced which enhances the heat transfer rate. The simulation results show that the copper has a high heat transfer coefficient than Aluminum and Bronze while operating in identical conditions. Due to the extensive use of helical coils in various applications, knowledge about the flow patterns and heat transfer characteristics are important. EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE ANALYSIS OF HEAT ENHANCEMENT IN CORRUGATED TWISTED ...P singh
In heat exchanger, the enthalpy is transferred between two or more fluids, at different temperatures. The major challenge in designing a heat exchanger is to make the equipment more compact and achieve a high heat transfer rate using minimum pumping power. In recent years, the high cost of energy and material has resulted in an increased effort aimed at producing more efficient heat exchange equipment. Furthermore, as a heat exchanger becomes older, the resistance to heat transfer increases owing to fouling or scaling. The heat transfer rate can be improved by introducing a disturbance in the fluid flow thereby breaking the viscous and thermal boundary layer. However, in the process pumping power may increase significantly and ultimately the pumping cost becomes high. Therefore, to achieve a desired heat transfer rate in an existing heat exchanger at an economic pumping power, several techniques have been proposed in recent years and are discussed under the classification section.
In this work, a study of transient heat transfer in double tube heat exchanger has enhanced. The inner tube of the setup was made with corrugation on both inner and outer walls by twisting the pipe from one end, which gives the more swirling motion to the fluid particles flowing over it. The flow inside the pipe was considered as turbulent, and the analysis was done experimentally and theoretically by using the ANSYS workbench. The experimental results were compared with the experimental values taken in the setup done by considering the inner tube as normal pipe. In both heat exchangers the values were taken and compared with the theoretical analysis. Temperature distribution and heat transfer rate were calculated and the details of the study have been discussed in this paper.
In compact heat exchangers, thermal resistance is generally dominant on the air-side and may
account for 80% or more of the total thermal resistance. The air-side heat transfer surface area is 8 to
10 times larger than the water-side. Any improvement in the heat transfer on air-side therefore

air-side, the optimization of such fins is essential to increase the performance of the heat exchangers
which results in thermal systems enhancement. This helps to reduce CO2 emissions through a

Empirical Determination of Locations of Unstable and Blank Gsm Signal Network...IJERA Editor
In a GSM network coverage area there exist locations where network signal reception is always either unsteady or blank. These problems are the cause of intermittent call receptions or no network reception at some locations in cell sites. This paper discusses a practical work carried out in a cell site located in a remote area in Eastern Nigeria to determine such locations. To do that, received signal field strength measurements were initially conducted at 3m interval starting from 100m away from the base Station to determine the suspected locations of unsteady and blank network receptions in the field. Further extensive measurements were then taken at each of the suspect locations. Analyses of the data obtained shows that a lot of such phenomenon may exist in cell sites.
An Efficient Data Communication Using Conventional CodesIJERA Editor
The BER performance of conventional FFT-OFDM system is compared with DWT-OFDM system and DCT-OFDM system in an AWGN environment and Saleh-Valenzuela (SV) channel model at 60 GHz. Several wavelets such as Haar, Daubechies, Symlet, biorthogonal are considered. The BER is calculated for signaling format BPSK and the performance is analyzed at 60 GHz. Simulation results show that DCT based scheme yields the lowest average bit error rate. While out of all wavelet mother used Haar and Daubechies wavelet based scheme yields lower BER than FFT-OFDM for an AWGN channel. But it may include the implementation of forward error correction techniques such as convolution codes. An efficient channel estimation algorithm may be included for performance evaluation of DCT-OFDM and DWT- OFDM working at 60 GHz band. We introduce the Interfacing Techniques for Accessing data transfer data delivery. By using our approach we are increasing the efficiency of the data communication.

Comparative study shows that helical coil heat exchanger is having better performance that straight tube heat exchanger.

A Hybrid Technique for the Automated Segmentation of Corpus Callosum in Midsa...IJERA Editor
The corpus callosum (CC) is the largest white-matter structure in human brain. In this paper, we take two techniques to observe the results of segmentation of Corpus Callosum. The first one is mean shift algorithm and morphological operation. The second one is k-means clustering. In this paper, it is performed in three steps. The first step is finding the corpus callosum area using adaptive mean shift algorithm or k-means clustering . In second step, the boundary of detected CC area is then used as the initial contour in the Geometric Active Contour (GAC) mode and final step to remove unknown noise using morphological operation and evolved to get the final segmentation result. The experimental results demonstrate that the mean shift algorithm and k-means clustering has provided a reliable segmentation performance.

The transparencies can be sent to the intended person, and at the other end the transparencies received person can decrypt the transparencies using our tool, thus gets the original image. Our proposed Visual cryptography provides the demonstration to the users to show how encryption and decryption can be done to the images. In this technology, the end user identifies an image, which is not the correct image. That is, while transmitting the image the sender will encrypt the image using our application here sender gets the two or more transparencies of the same image. Our application provides an option to the end user of encryption. The end user can divide the original image into number of different images. Using our application we can send encrypted images that are in the format of GIF and PNG. The encrypted transparencies can be saved in the machine and can be sent to the intended person by other means [source].

Modification of Recycled Al-332 Alloy Using Manganese DioxideIJERA Editor
Aluminum and its alloys are commercially available materials for both domestic (cooking utensils, beverages can) and industrial applications (automobile and aircraft structural parts). This study presented the effect of the use of manganese dioxide (MnO2), obtained from discarded dry cell batteries on the features and formation of pores in recycled pistons (Al-332 alloy). 3kg of recycled Al-332 alloy was obtained in form of ingot. 150 g of the ingot was re-melted and the molten alloy was treated with 2 to 12g of MnO2. The molten alloy was stirred gently for 1 minute, sand cast and normalized. Parts of the cast samples were used for microstructural analysis, tensile strength and hardness test following standard test procedures in accordance with ASTM E8M-91 standards (1992). The distribution of pores present in the cast alloys were studied using fractal analysis and spatial point pattern method (SPP). The hardness, tensile strength, average fractal dimensions and sphericities were related to the amount of MnO2. The micrographs revealed an absolute reduction in pores at 8gram addition of MnO2. Maximum hardness and tensile values of 50.8BHN and 65.01MN/m2 were obtained at 8 g addition of MnO2, above which there is decrease in properties of the material. The weighted average fractal dimension and sphericity for as-cast and sample treated with 8 g of MnO2 are 1.3276 and 0.3357; 1.0050 and 0.9918 respectively. Spatial point pattern revealed that the pores in the samples are randomly distributed.
Experimental Test of Stainless Steel Wire Mesh and Aluminium Alloy With Glass...IJERA Editor
At present, composite materials are mostly used in aircraft structural components, because of their excellent properties like lightweight, high strength to weight ratio, high stiffness, and corrosion resistance and less expensive. In this experimental work, the mechanical properties of laminate, this is reinforced with stainless steel wire mesh, aluminum sheet metal, perforated aluminum sheet metal and glass fibers to be laminate and investigated. The stainless steel wire mesh and perforated aluminum metal were sequentially stacked to fabricate, hybrid composites. The aluminum metal sheet is also employed with that sequence to get maximum strength and less weight. The tensile, compressive and flexure tests carried out on the hybrid composite. To investigate the mechanical properties and elastic properties of the metal matrix composite laminate of a material we are using experimental test and theoretical calculation. The experimental work consists of Tensile, compressive and flexural test. The expectation of this project results in the tensile and compressive properties of this hybrid composite it is slightly lesser than carbon fibers but it could facilitate a weight reduction compared with CFRP panels. So this hybrid laminates composite material offering significant weight savings and maximum strength over some other GFRP conventional panels

Word Problems are designed to help students to learn the application of mathematical concepts, algebraic identities and formulae in the real world. Variables are assigned the values of „real-world‟ entities and a logical approach in solving them is established. They help the students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the real world application of it by giving them hypothetical situations about the same. Probability is a measure or estimation of how likely it is that a particular event will happen. Probability concepts need to be properly understood before attempting to solve any problem related to it. In view of this a survey was conducted. Students from various schools and coaching classes were approached for the same. The study shows that majority of the students experience difficulties in identifying and understanding what exactly the word problem signifies and what approach it demands. Also, the process of learning Probability needs to be specialized given the different understanding levels of each and every student in contrast to the generalized education techniques that are being used in traditional classrooms. Keeping in mind these issues, Word Problem Solver for Probability is implemented, which caters to the learning needs of each and every student individually by providing a step-by-step solution to all problems from the Probability domain.

Review on Comparative Study between Helical Coil and Straight Tube Heat Excha...IOSR Journals
The purpose of this study is to determine the relative advantage of using a helically coiled heat
exchanger against a straight tube heat exchanger. It is found that the heat transfer in helical circular tubes is
higher as compared to Straight tube due to their shape. Helical coils offer advantageous over straight tubes due
to their compactness and increased heat transfer coefficient. The increased heat transfer coefficients are a
consequence of the curvature of the coil, which induces centrifugal forces to act on the moving fluid, resulting in
the development of secondary flow. The curvature of the coil governs the centrifugal force while the pitch (or
helix angle) influences the torsion to which the fluid is subjected to. The centrifugal force results in the
development of secondary flow. Due to the curvature effect, the fluid streams in the outer side of the pipe moves
faster than the fluid streams in the inner side of the pipe. The difference in velocity sets-in secondary flows,
whose pattern changes with the Dean number of the flow.
In current work the fluid to fluid heat exchange is taken into consideration, Most of the investigations on heat transfer coefficients are for constant wall temperature or constant heat flux. The effectiveness, overall
heat transfer coefficient, effect of coldwater flow rate on effectiveness of heat exchanger when hot water mass
flow rate is kept constant and effect of hot water flow rate on effectiveness when cold water flow rate kept
constant studied and compared for parallel flow, counter flow arrangement of Helical coil and Straight tube
heat exchangers. The inner heat transfer coefficient calculated from Wilson plot method. Then Nusselt no and
correlation obtained on the basis of inner heat transfer coefficient. All readings were taken at steady state
condition of heat exchanger.
The result shows that the heat transfer coefficient is affected by the geometry of the heat exchanger.

Helically Coiled Tube with Different Geometry and Curvature Ratio on Convecti...AM Publications
A helically coil-tube heat exchanger is generally applied in industry applications due to its compact structure, larger heat transfer area and higher heat transfer capability. Several studies from literature have also indicated that heat transfer rate in helically coiled tube are superior to straight tube due to complex flow pattern exist inside helical pipe. The concept behind compact heat exchanger is to decrease size and increase heat load which is the typical feature of modern helical tube heat exchanger. While the heat transfer characteristics of helical coil heat exchangers are available in the literature, This paper elaborates a brief review on different curvature ratio and geometry of tubes in heat transfer through heat exchangers.
THE EFFECT OF GEOMETRICAL PARAMETERS ON HEAT TRANSFER AND HYDRO DYNAMICAL CHA...ijmech
Compact size and high heat transfer coefficient of helical coil heat exchangers causes them to have an
important role in various industrial applications. This paper investigate numerically on the influence of
different parameters such as coil radius, coil pitch and diameter of tube on the hydrodynamic and
heat transfer characteristics of helical double tube heat exchangers using the CFD software which is
based on the principles of heat transfer, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. The results indicated that
heat transfer augmentation occurs by increasing of the inner Dean Number, inner tube diameter, curvature
ratio and by the reduction of the pitch of heat exchanger coil. By increasing the radius of coils, the
secondary flow effects due to centrifugal forces diminishes and flow of fluid through the coils tends to flow
in a straight path and as a result, the friction coefficient decreases consequently.
Heat Transfer Enhancement of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Using Conical Tapes.IJERA Editor
This paper provides heat transfer and friction factor data for single -phase flow in a shell and tube heat exchanger fitted with a helical tape insert. In the double concentric tube heat exchanger, hot air was passed through the inner tube while the cold water was flowed through the annulus. The influences of the helical insert on heat transfer rate and friction factor were studied for counter flow, and Nusselt numbers and friction factor obtained were compared with previous data (Dittus 1930, Petukhov 1970, Moody 1944) for axial flows in the plain tube. The flow considered is in a low Reynolds number range between 2300 and 8800. A maximum percentage gain of 165% in heat transfer rate is obtained for using the helical insert in comparison with the plain tube.

Cfd and conjugate heat transfer analysis of heat sinks with different fin geo...eSAT Journals
Abstract Heat sinks are commonly used for cooling of electronic devices. Heat sinks, an array of heat fins, remove the heat from the surfaces of the chips by enhancing the heat Transfer rate through heat conduction process. Heat can also be removed from the chip surfaces through forced convection heat transfer. In this project work, CFD and conjugate heat transfer analysis is carried out for various fin geometries with Zigzag, Fluted, Slanted mirror, Custom pin fin and staggered array configurations for low thermal resistance and minimum pressure drop. Numerical simulations are carried out for each of the above mentioned fin geometries with common base plate thickness of 2 mm, fin height of 28 mm and fin thickness of 1 mm for three different heat loads namely 50 W, 75 W and 100 W with air flow of 3.933 m/s (15 ft3/min or 15 CFM) and air inlet temperature of 25oC. The results are compared for thermal performance of a heat sink for each of above geometries and it is observe that the fin with Slanted Mirror geometry gives the best performance among all the other geometries for minimum Pressure drop. The average heat transfer coefficients for fins with slanted mirror geometry, zig zag configuration, fluted type, custom pin fin and staggered array are found to be 215 W/m2K, 164 W/m2K, 164 W/m2K, 157 W/m2K and 145 W/m2K respectively Keywords: Fin geometries of Heat sinks, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Conjugate heat transfer.

I. INTRODUCTION
Heat exchangers are used in a wide variety of applications including power plants, nuclear reactors, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, automotive industries, heat recovery systems, chemical processing, and food industries .Besides the performance of the heat exchanger being improved, the heat transfer enhancement enables the size of the heat exchanger to be considerably decreased. In general, the enhancement techniques can be divided into two groups: active and passive techniques. The active techniques require external forces like fluid vibration, electric field, and surface vibration. The passive techniques require special surface geometries or fluid additives like various tube inserts. Both techniques have been widely used to improve heat transfer performance of heat exchangers. Due to their compact structure and high heat transfer coefficient, helically coiled tubes have been introduced as one of the passive heat transfer enhancement techniques and are widely used in various industrial applications. Several studies have indicated that helically coiled tubes are superior to straight tubes when employed in heat transfer applications .The centrifugal force due to the
curvature of the tube results in the secondary flow development which enhances the heat transfer rate. This phenomenon can be beneficial especially in laminar flow regime. Thermal performance and pressure drop of a shell and helically coiled tube heat exchanger with and without helical crimped fins have been investigated by Naphon one of the most frequent uses of helically coiled tubes is in shell and coiled tube heat exchangers. Going through the existing literature, it was revealed that there are a few investigations on the heat transfer coefficients of this kind of heat exchangers considering the geometrical effects like coil pitch. Also, this scarcity is more prominent for shell-side heat transfer coefficients.

The particular difference in this study compared to other similar studies was the boundary conditions for the helical coil. Most studies focus on constant wall temperature or constant heat flux, whereas in this study it was a fluid-to-fluid heat exchanger. All tests were performed in the transitional and turbulent regimes. H. Shokouhmand, M.R. Three heat exchangers with different coil pitches and curvature ratios were tested for both parallel-flow and counter- flow configurations. All the required parameters like inlet and outlet temperatures of tube-side and shell- side fluids, flow rate of fluids, etc. were measured using appropriate instruments. Overall heat transfer coefficients of the heat exchangers were calculated using Wilson plots. The inner Nusselt numbers were compared to the values existed in open literature. The purpose of this article is to check the influence of the tube diameter, coil pitch, shell-side and tube-side mass flow rate over the performance coefficient and modified effectiveness of vertical helical coiled tube heat exchangers. The calculations have been performed for the steady-state and the experiments were conducted for both laminar and turbulent flow inside coil. Hot water from hater flows inside the tube where it loses heat to cold water flowing through shell. The entry and exit of cold water in shell kept at top so shell should be filled completely and complete coil must be immersed in water. The flow of cold water is controlled by rotameter at the entry in shell, this cold water then carries heat to drainage. Hot water mass flow rate controlled after the exit of helical coil. This is done to get parallel flow and counter flow configurations. Four thermocouples are used to note down temperature at entry and exit of hot can cold water flows respectively. Following fig. shows the experimental setup.

V. CONCLUSION
Comparative study is carried out between helical coil heat exchanger and straight tube heat exchanger, The effectiveness of heat exchanger greatly affected by hot water mass flow rate and cold water flow rate. When cold water mass flow rate is constant and hot water mass flow rate increased the effectiveness decreases.
Increase in cold water mass flow rate for constant hot water mass flow rate resulted in increase in effectiveness. For both helical coil and straight tube heat exchangers with parallel and counter flow configuration this result obtained. Helical coil counter flow is most effective in all these conditions and straight tube parallel flow heat exchanger is least effective.
Overall heat transfer coefficient on other hand increases with increase in hot water mass flow rate and cold water mass flow rate. The highest overall heat transfer coefficient is noted for cold water mass flow rate 100 LPH and hot water mass flow rate 100 LPH, in helical coil counter flow. Use of a helical
