SUMMARY
Farmers can get complete information on real time basis from this
mobile application which provides the farmer to get information on all scheme
components & subsidy pattern of assistance, register himself to avail scheme
benefits on priority basis, First of its kind in the entire country, farmers who
have registered under Crop Insurance Scheme may know their application
status till they receive the compensation amount under crop insurance,
information on seed and fertilizer availability in Government, Private and
Cooperative outlets nearer to their residence, information on Customer Hiring
Center for hiring farm Machinery, information on prevailing market prices in
277 regulated markets, weather forecast advisories to take up appropriate
cultivation plan and information on extension officer’s visit to their villages.
The Mobile application will help the farmers by giving real time information
and encouraging the farmers to take up farming activities at right time. This
Mobile Seva will definitely thrash out the problems arising out of seasonal
adversities, non availability of inputs in time, non-availability of farm
machineries and natural calamities.

INTRODUCTION
‘Uzhavan’ (meaning - farmer)’App -
This app allows farmers to have access to 12 types of
services. It will help the farmers by giving real time
information and encouraging the farmers to take up farming
activities at right time.
Farmers can get complete information from this mobile
application in timely on all aspects of Agriculture including
information about availability of inputs and farm
machineries.

CUSTOM HIRING CENTER

• Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami launched
a new service in Uzhavan App to enable farmers get
equipment meant for agricultural operations at reasonable
rent. This has been done by integrating JFarm Services
App of Chennai-based Tractor and Farm Equipment
Limited (TAFE) with Uzhavan App.
Uzhavan App

• Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) Ltd, the country’s
second largest tractor maker, has said its farmer to
farmer tractor and farm implement sharing platform
initiative JFarm Services and the supporting app have
been integrated with Tamil Nadu government’s Uzhavan
App.
• The initiative marking the partnership between TAFE
and the Tamil Nadu government was launched by Chief
Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami

• “TAFE, through Jfarm Services has collaborated with the
Tamil Nadu government to support the State in making
farm mechanization available to small and marginal
farmers through the shared economy model, to create
sustainable agricultural productivity and growth for the

• Farmer Produce Organisation (FPO) is an entirely
formed by primary producers. Viz. farmers, milk
products, fisherman, weavers, rural artisans,
craftsmen. An FPO can be a Producer Company, a
Cooperative Society or any other legal form which
provides for sharing of profits/benefits among the
members.

• The main aim of an FPO is to ensure better income for the
producers through an organisation of their own. Small
producers do not have the large marketable surplus
individually (both inputs and produce) to get the benefit of
economics of scale.
• Besides, in agricultural marketing, there is a long chain of
intermediaries who very often work non-transparently
leading to the situation where the producer receives only a
small part of the value that the ultimate consumer pays.

• Locally available crops and their market prices are only
known in this App
• Images for diagnosis services from farmer should be very
clear otherwise it will be very difficult to consider for
recommendation
• Network problems in Remote areas
Disadvantages

• Nearly 3.8 lakh farmers have been using the facility
since its launch on April 5 2018. Further, 72,548 farmers
have registered their names through this App to get
agricultural inputs at a subsidized prices. Farmers are in
touch with 76 government and 625 private centers for
getting agricultural equipment on rent.
• Many farmers get valuable information from this App. In
future we may get more information about the farm
activities in advance.
