UTTARAKHAND TRANSPORT
CORPORATION
Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) was
incorporated on 31-10-2003 under the provisions of the
Road Transport Act, 1950.
UTC is a public sector passenger road transport
corporation providing services in the state of Uttarakhand
and other adjoining states in North India. With a fleet size
of around 1247 buses and operate over 3.87 lakh
kilometers catering to the travel needs of over 1.20 lakh
people everyday.

This section fabricates and maintain Suspension.
Because of the up’s and down’s the vehicle get’s so
many shock’s, to prevent those shock the LEAF
SPRINGS are used. They are Semi-Elliptical in shape.
▪ The total number of the Leaf Spring Suspension in a Bus is 4.
▪ Each contains 15 leaf Springs.
▪ In Front axle the length of Spring is 74 inches and decreases
4 inches in each to downwards.
▪ In Rear Axle the length of Spring is 78 Inches and simultan -
eously decreases as in front axle.
Leaf Spring Section
Alternator, Self-Starter Motor Section
ALTERNATOR is used to charge the battery it generates 3-phase AC current
• Voltage generation=14.2—14.8v.
• Ideal output during slow running is14.2v.
• At 2000rpm is 14.8v.
Its parts
• Rotor-it is a magnet.
• Stator-it generates AC.
• Rectifier plate-it converts AC to DC.
• REGULATOR -it controls the o/p voltage.
SELF-STARTER MOTOR is used to crank the engine to make
it runs on its own power.

Almost in every I.C. Engines Fuel Injection Pumps are used for delivering the fuel
in desired pressure, amount, time to the cylinders.
The Fuel suck by Fuel Pump from the tank at a low pressure with the help of a low
pressure pump via filter and than after reaching a certain pressure it is delivered
to the high pressure pump and distributer then using cam it sends the high
pressure fuel to the desired fuel injector with the help of it’s rail and due to the
varying rpm of engine and pumping capacity. The extra fuel is returns to the fuel
tank via pressure relief valve. It also consist of Mechanical Governor which helps
in the controlling of fuel supply under varying load conditions.
• Injection Pressure is different for different engine.
• CAM Sequence- 1-5-3-6-2-4.
• Direction of Rotation- Clock Wise.

In this section of Workshop maintenance were done
for the following engines.

Clutch and Transmission Gear Box Section
In this section of workshop the repairing and maintenance is
done for the clutch and gearbox

I consist of following parts
1. Differential Gear Box
(i). Two Sun Gear
(ii). Spider Arm
(iii). Four Planet Gears
(iv). Tail Pinion
2. Differential Casing
3. Rear Wheels
Front Axel Section
It consist of following parts
1. Front I-Beam.
2. struct axle.
(i).king pin (L&R)
(ii).king pin bush(2L&2R)
(iii).washer
3. Right side-Roller Bearing.
4. Left side-Brash & steel bearing.
5. Break cam shaft(L&R)
(i).Diaphragm bracket.
6. Tie rod.
(i).Tie rod ends contains bearings used & work for taking turns(L&R).
Brakes Line Section
This Section responsible for maintenance of brake line,
which consist of following.
1. Air Compressor
2. Drying and Distributing unit
3. & 4. Compressed Air Reservoir
5. Dual Valve
6. & 7. Rear Actuators
8. & 9. Front Actuators
Project assigned during training,
We had done the overall maintenance work during our training period.
Outcomes of training,
❑ Practical Experience
❑ Confidence Boost
In our industrial training, we were introduced to industrial environment.
We learned discipline and cooperation during training & we felt good
when we came in contact with engineers & workers. Most importantly
we had learnt the process of performing work in workshop with complete
knowledge of Departments which will be useful for us when ever we
go at industries or workshop as an Employee.

  • 5. About UTTARAKHAND TRANSPORT CORPORATION Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) was incorporated on 31-10-2003 under the provisions of the Road Transport Act, 1950. UTC is a public sector passenger road transport corporation providing services in the state of Uttarakhand and other adjoining states in North India. With a fleet size of around 1247 buses and operate over 3.87 lakh kilometers catering to the travel needs of over 1.20 lakh people everyday.   • 7. Work Stations (Department of Training/area) • Front Axel Section • Rear Axel Section • Brakes Assembly Section • Leaf Spring Section • Alternator & Self-Starter, Electric Section • Gear Box Section • F.I.P. Section • Engine Section • Steering Section • Clutch Assembly Section
  • 8. This section fabricates and maintain Suspension. Because of the up’s and down’s the vehicle get’s so many shock’s, to prevent those shock the LEAF SPRINGS are used. They are Semi-Elliptical in shape. ▪ The total number of the Leaf Spring Suspension in a Bus is 4. ▪ Each contains 15 leaf Springs. ▪ In Front axle the length of Spring is 74 inches and decreases 4 inches in each to downwards. ▪ In Rear Axle the length of Spring is 78 Inches and simultan - eously decreases as in front axle. Alternator, Self-Starter Motor Section ALTERNATOR is used to charge the battery it generates 3-phase AC current • Voltage generation=14.2—14.8v. • Ideal output during slow running is14.2v. • At 2000rpm is 14.8v. Its parts • Rotor-it is a magnet. • Stator-it generates AC. • Rectifier plate-it converts AC to DC. • REGULATOR -it controls the o/p voltage.   • 10. F.I.P. Section Almost in every I.C. Engines Fuel Injection Pumps are used for delivering the fuel in desired pressure, amount, time to the cylinders. The Fuel suck by Fuel Pump from the tank at a low pressure with the help of a low pressure pump via filter and than after reaching a certain pressure it is delivered to the high pressure pump and distributer then using cam it sends the high pressure fuel to the desired fuel injector with the help of it’s rail and due to the varying rpm of engine and pumping capacity. The extra fuel is returns to the fuel tank via pressure relief valve. It also consist of Mechanical Governor which helps in the controlling of fuel supply under varying load conditions. • Injection Pressure is different for different engine. • CAM Sequence- 1-5-3-6-2-4. • Direction of Rotation- Clock Wise.
  • 11. Engine Section In this section of Workshop maintenance were done for the following engines. ✓ 125HP(TATA) ✓ 135HP(ASHOK LEYLAND) Engine assembly consist of following parts. 1. Flywheel 2. Crankshaft 3. Camshaft 4. Connecting Rod 5. Gudgeon Pin 6. Piston Head 7. Piston Rings (Oil carrying ring, Compression Ring) 8. Cylinder Block 9. Cylinder Head 10. Valve 11. Rocker Arm 12. Pushrod 13. Cylinder Sleeves 14. Air Compressor 15. Water Pump 16. Oil Pump 17. Sump 18. Alternator 19. Self Starter Motor 20. Timing Gear Housing 21. Radiator 22. Fuel Injector 23. Fuel carrying Pipe line 24. Fuel Injection Pump 25. Vibration Damping Pulley 26. Cooling Fan 27. Oil filter 28. Turbo Charger 29. Intake Manifold 30. Exhaust Manifold 31. Gaskets 32. Fasteners
  • 12. Clutch and Transmission Gear Box Section In this section of workshop the repairing and maintenance is done for the clutch and gearbox In buses Synchromesh Gearbox is used Parts of gear box 1. Main shaft 2. Counter Shaft 3. Sliding Fork 4. Cone Synchronizer 5. Gear Shifting Lever 6. Gears with diff. Gear Ratio 7. Transmission Oil 8. Gear Box Housing 9. Bearing & Sleeve 10. Hub & Bush 11. Cover Plate 12. Propeller Shaft
  • 13. Rear Axel Section I consist of following parts 1. Differential Gear Box (i). Two Sun Gear (ii). Spider Arm (iii). Four Planet Gears (iv). Tail Pinion 2. Differential Casing 3. Rear Wheels
  • 14. Front Axel Section It consist of following parts 1. Front I-Beam. 2. struct axle. (i).king pin (L&R) (ii).king pin bush(2L&2R) (iii).washer 3. Right side-Roller Bearing. 4. Left side-Brash & steel bearing. 5. Break cam shaft(L&R) (i).Diaphragm bracket. 6. Tie rod. (i).Tie rod ends contains bearings used & work for taking turns(L&R).
  • 15. Brakes Line Section This Section responsible for maintenance of brake line, which consist of following. 1. Air Compressor 2. Drying and Distributing unit 3. & 4. Compressed Air Reservoir 5. Dual Valve 6. & 7. Rear Actuators 8. & 9. Front Actuators
  • 16. Project assigned during training, We had done the overall maintenance work during our training period. Outcomes of training, ❑ Practical Experience ❑ Confidence Boost In our industrial training, we were introduced to industrial environment. We learned discipline and cooperation during training & we felt good when we came in contact with engineers & workers. Most importantly we had learnt the process of performing work in workshop with complete knowledge of Departments which will be useful for us when ever we go at industries or workshop as an Employee.
