Introduction
 To make a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical skills industrial
training is very important.
 Automobile technology has been advancing rapidly and many new systems have
been implemented.
 During the training period, relevant and pertinent knowledge about Transmission
System and functioning of vehicles was obtained.
 However, an automobile is a complex system comprising thousands of parts.
Therefore, only specific systems in vehicles which were studied during the short
industrial attachment period will be discussed in this presentation.

Broad Objective
The Broad objective of this study is to gain practical work experience and implement
theoretical knowledge in the field of automobiles.

power engine to the transmission or gear box.

• The "heart" of an automatic transmission.
• Changing gear ratios without having to engage or disengage individual gears.
Planetary has three main parts
a) Sun (centre gear)
b) Planets (small gears turning
around the sun)
c) Ring or annulus gear

Governor and Modulator
• Governor is a clever valve that tells the
transmission how fast the car is going.

 Governor and Modulator or Throttle valve that monitor speed and throttle position in
order to determine when to shift gear.
• Modulator senses the
manifold pressure
under a greater load.
Hydraulic (Pump & Valve Body)
 Neat pump, called a gear pump
 It draws fluid from a sump

 Contains a maze of channels and passages

 That redirect the fluid to the appropriate
clutch pack or servo in order to control
shifting gear.

A live axle is an axle that transmits power to

Analysis
• The analysis has been accomplished after observing some of job
cards. I picked more than 15 job cards for analysis. Among them I
found many of complains were written in the job cards.
• The most common complains against transmission are as bellow:
 Transmission overheat
 Fluid leak
 Axle make noise.
 Gear shifting problem

 Safety first-most of the worker they don’t care about safety, whenever a
car is pull up by lift they stay in front of car, side and under the car. After
they staying under the car with out giving support car lift.
 Need to appoint more employees. They provide services delay because
they have no sufficient worker. By appoint more worker they can give
proper service quickly as well as earn more money.
 They need to make a better relationship between management and
workers.

 Working place should be cleaned regularly.
Every organization need to maintain 5S method to success in future
Conclusion
In my presentation I tried my best to give the description about
Transmission System and my practical works. During this practicum
period at the Vehicle Care Pvt. Ltd. was my basic vehicle servicing for
gaining knowledge as well as experience. Because of its having
advanced technology in automotive so it is a great achievement for me.
At last I want to say it was a very interesting and great knowledge base
journey for my student life as well as my future life.

Introduction  To make a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical skills industrial training is very important.  Automobile technology has been advancing rapidly and many new systems have been implemented.  During the training period, relevant and pertinent knowledge about Transmission System and functioning of vehicles was obtained.  However, an automobile is a complex system comprising thousands of parts. Therefore, only specific systems in vehicles which were studied during the short industrial attachment period will be discussed in this presentation. 4

  • 18. Transmission Gearbox A set of gears with its casing, especially in a motor vehicle.  Need to operate at a relatively high rotational speed, which is inappropriate for starting, stopping, and slower travel. 18

  • 26. Planetary Gear Sets • The "heart" of an automatic transmission. • Changing gear ratios without having to engage or disengage individual gears. Planetary has three main parts a) Sun (centre gear) b) Planets (small gears turning around the sun) c) Ring or annulus gear 26

Governor and Modulator • Governor is a clever valve that tells the transmission how fast the car is going. 27  Governor and Modulator or Throttle valve that monitor speed and throttle position in order to determine when to shift gear. • Modulator senses the manifold pressure under a greater load.
  • 28. Hydraulic (Pump & Valve Body)  Neat pump, called a gear pump  It draws fluid from a sump 28  The brain of the automatic transmission  Contains a maze of channels and passages

  • 55. Recommendations  Safety first-most of the worker they don’t care about safety, whenever a car is pull up by lift they stay in front of car, side and under the car. After they staying under the car with out giving support car lift.  Need to appoint more employees. They provide services delay because they have no sufficient worker. By appoint more worker they can give proper service quickly as well as earn more money.  They need to make a better relationship between management and workers. 55

Ltd. was my basic vehicle servicing for gaining knowledge as well as experience. Because of its having advanced technology in automotive so it is a great achievement for me. At last I want to say it was a very interesting and great knowledge base journey for my student life as well as my future life. 57
