 Technology  has changed everything from how
 we monitor our babies with listening devices
 and video feeds to carrying our offices around
 in our handbags, including accessing remote
 computers and printing! Multi-million dollar
 deals can happen half a world away with
 simple, every-day technology. Why shouldn’t
 we expect technology to impact the
 classroom? As a matter of fact, we should
 expect it and we, as educators, should be at
 the forefront. Otherwise, our students will be
 behind.
   First, and most importantly, mobile learning allows
    students to learn anywhere and, potentially at any time.
    Suddenly, acquiring knowledge is flexible enough to
    accommodate diverse locations and schedules.
   Secondly, ML can reinforce classroom experience with
    practice opportunities. Forums deliver the classroom
    benefit of interacting with other students at any time and
    place. This can be invaluable for a difficult subject like
    grammar. ML makes efficient use of free time by making
    it possible to participate while travelling, between
    engagements, even between other classes!
     Finally, one of the most important benefits to a student
    is that many programs and even lectures are available
    now for free.
   1.Probably the biggest disadvantage of ML is, in
    most cases, the successful student must be self-
    motivated
   2.Another disadvantage is the difficulty in delivering
    useful feedback.
   3.Reporting and giving credit is another challenge for
    mobile learning. It is difficult to ensure the work
    submitted was done by the person being given credit
    for the work. Many online institutions resort to honor
    codes but this challenges the credibility of any
    certificates and degrees earned.
    4.Finally, while there are many free programs
    available, the best programs can be costly.
   As you can see, it is possible to address all the
    components of a lesson plan using mobile
    learning, even the demands of a grammar
    lesson plan. While there are many challenges
    to delivering knowledge remotely, the
    instructor can be expected to overcome them
    with strong planning and delivery of services.
    The most challenging obstacle is ensuring the
    student being credited with the work is the
    student who actually did the work. As
    technology evolves, I am sure there will be
    more and more solutions to even this difficult
    problem.
