Paper presentation at the Interactive Computer aided Learning conference (ICL 2001), Villach, Austria, September 2001. This paper presents an initial analysis of the duration and effort data collected during the migration of WinEcon, a large-scale CAL package to WWW-based delivery. The paper reviews the data collected during the initial development of WinEcon before presenting the preliminary data collected during the recent migration. The data presented represents a snapshot of the data collection process towards the end of the migration project including an overview of the raw project data in terms of cost, duration and effort. Initial lessons learned from the project will be presented along with the potentially controversial view that conversion of large-scale projects, while feasible, may not represent the most efficient use of resources. The authors will argue that in many cases it may be more efficient to start again rather than migrate and reuse exiting tools and technology.

Anthrax is a disease caused by Bacillus anthracis bacteria that forms spore-encased rods. It can affect both humans and animals through contact with infected animals or contaminated products. Lyme disease is caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria and transmitted through the bites of infected blacklegged ticks. It causes a characteristic bullseye rash and can spread to joints, heart and nervous system if left untreated. Malaria is spread by the bites of infected Anopheles mosquitoes, causing symptoms of fever and potentially death. It is widespread in tropical regions and a major cause of mortality, especially in young children.

Sources like ancestry records and newspapers helped uncover more names. The research scope expanded to include men born in Deseronto or with similar-sounding place names. Additional pilots who trained in Deseronto were also included. The researcher plans to create an online memorial by blogging about each individual's service. Freely available online archives are valuable resources but managing project scope is important.

Leishmaniasis
Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease spread by sand fly bites. It exists in three main forms: cutaneous, mucocutaneous, and visceral. Cutaneous lesions cause skin sores, while mucocutaneous lesions affect mucosal tissues and can cause disfigurement. Visceral leishmaniasis affects internal organs and is the most serious form. The disease is diagnosed by microscopic examination of tissues or cultures to view the parasites. Treatment depends on the form but may include topical or systemic antimonials, amphotericin B, or miltefosine.
