The dark lighting and flames stereotypically fit into the rock genre, it is commonly used throughout most rock music videos. The abandoned buildings and graffiti show rebellion, but the empty streets do not show who has been rebelling.
- 3. These shots are introducing the narrative of the video. They are using props of toy people to show real life struggles, such as alcoholism, and it also goes against the usual conventions of the rock genre. The narrative is concept based, which uses creative and unique narratives.
- 4. This is a usual convention of rock. In most rock videos, there is a performer – normally the lead singer – and when there is an instrumental part of the song, they show the band playing the instruments. They use the location to show the link between the song and the video.
- 5. In these shots, we see the narrative unfolding. Although they are a minute apart, we are still unclear of the narrative. We are seeing an act of rebellion and chaos. These two things are stereotypically linked to the rock genre and can be seen in a lot of rock videos.
