Objective: To work in a challenging environment where I can add value to the organization and myself by applying my
theoretical knowledge to the real life situations.
Currently working as a PhD Student in Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering,IIT Kharagpur (from
December 2013)
RESEARCH AREA
Comparative analysis of Organically and inorganically grown tea as an adjuvant in therapeutics of
Alzheimer’s disease
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Simultaneously working as a senior research Fellow from IIT Kharagpur, from December 2013, in an National
project headed by Tea board of India and IIT Kharagpur
-The main objective of the proposed research project is to contribute to the reduction of Alzheimer’s disease by
addressing the key therapeutics which can be done by tea poyphenolics and its secondary metabolites. Other
objectives to address the main objective are:
•To analyse the polyphenol content and antioxidant capacity in fresh tea leaves grown in organic and inorganic
nutrient management practices.
•To evaluate the Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory property in organically and inorganically grown tea
•To Compare behavioural assessment and biochemical analysis of Colchicine induced Alzheimer’s mice model
before and after oral administration of tea extract having maximum polyphenol content
•To analyse the behavioural changes of Alzheimers disease patients after oral administration treatment of tea
containing maximum polyphenol
Work Done
• Evaluation of effect of organic and inorganic nutrient management on antioxidant property of tea leaves
• HPLC analysis for estimation of total catechin content
• Evaluation of antioxidant activity of organically and inorganically grown tea by DPPH (2, 2 diphenyl -1
picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging assay
• Evaluation and comparative analysis of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity of tea grown in
different nutrient management practices
• Effect of tea polyphenols on Alzhimers disease control in animal and human model
• Comparative study of effect of tea polyphenols grown organically and inorganically on brain lipid
peroxidation, nitrite, and GSH levels and GST, SOD, and catalase activities in colchicine-injected rats
• Effect of tea extracts on brain AChE levels in colchicine-injected rats
• Animal behavioral analysis
• Behavioral analysis in human AD patients
• Report preparation of the final results
WORK EXPERIENCE
