The unknown organism was determined to be Bacillus cereus based on several laboratory tests. It was gram-positive, rod-shaped, and formed large, irregular, flat colonies with undulate margins. The arrangement of cells was predominantly streptobacillus. Additionally, glucose fermentation, colony morphology, and cell arrangement confirmed the identity as B. cereus rather than the similar B. subtilis.
