What did we learn? ArcGIS is more often easier to use… But“Simplicity can breed bad data management practices and a poor understanding of what you are doing.”
What did we learn? QGIS is Awesome! No Buts“QGIS could do everything that we taught in the ArcGIS practical, the software is free and open source, you can take it anywhere in the world without restrictions …and the training booklet is thinner too!”

  • 13. What don’t we teach? Spatial Analysis Too many different bases to cover Databases Too many different databases to cover Any Questions Point them to experts (Google + group) Point them to GIS stack exchange
  • 14. What did we learn? Yea! How many Icons? Vs
  • 15. What did we learn? Yea! Where?!??
  • 16. What did we learn? ArcGIS is more often easier to use… But“Simplicity can breed bad data management practices and a poor understanding of what you are doing.”
  • 17. What did we learn? QGIS is Awesome! No Buts“QGIS could do everything that we taught in the ArcGIS practical, the software is free and open source, you can take it anywhere in the world without restrictions …and the training booklet is thinner too!”
