Facebook is an online social networking service. Its name comes from a colloquialism for the directory given to students at some American universities.[5] Facebook was founded on February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.[6] The founders had initially limited the website's membership to Harvard students, but later expanded it to colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before it opened to high-school students, and eventually to anyone aged 13 and over. Facebook now allows anyone who claims to be at least 13 years old to become a registered user of the website

3. Introduction
• A university can be defined as an
institution of higher education having
authority to award bachelors and higher
degrees, usually having research facilities.
4. Transition from college life to
university life
• Gaining, losing, finding, crying, laughing,
loving, discovering, forgetting, these are
what best exemplify the university life.
• The transition from college to university is
bigger then anything imagined. Not so
much academically but emotionally.
5. Different Parts of University
• Administration
• Departments
• Hostels
• Recreation Centers
6. Perception of students about
university after college
• University is very different from college in
more than one ways.
• Students come from different backgrounds
and so they respond differently towards
the environment of university.
7. • For example some come from cadet
colleges, some from co-education and
others from simple backgrounds.
• Some students are bold while others are
shy making quite a good blend of sweet
and salty.
8. Two types of students
• Day Scholars
• Hostellites
9. • Day schollars are the ones who enjoy at
there homes, take breakfast early
morning, and have to wake up early in
order to catch the bus as well.
• Hostellites, the ones who wake up just
fifteen minutes early than class so no
chance of breakfast, and hostels are a hell
for someone who leaves the home for the
first time.
10. Student Interaction
• Between classmates
Class is an integral part of any institution
and so in a university as well. For many
the interaction between the opposite
gender is a new experience and to cope
up with it is difficult.
11. • Between Seniors and Juniors
Together with the seniors and juniors the
whole university family becomes
complete. The seniors have gone through
the situations we are facing so we can
take from their experience many useful
tips and same is true for the juniors as
well.
12. Teachers And The Teaching
Style
• We have to encounter different kinds of
teachers with different styles of teaching.
• But most importantly to change from
annual to semester system is difficult and
also to change the routine accordingly so
that one does not get behind.
13. • As teachers have to take tests and
conduct quizzes one has to keep up his
pace and this is difficult.
• Also teachers are from different age
groups, have different schemes of
checking, some are strict and others are
lenient so as a student you always have to
be vigilant.
14. Corner Stone For Practical Life
• University life gives the foundation for a
sound practical life experience.
• Different competitions and exhibitions are
held which enhance our communication
skills and give us a know how of present
technologies in the industry.
15. • Internships are also an integral part of
grooming because of which our practical
experience increases many folds.
• Societies are also one forum through
which we can express ourselves
wholeheartedly and we can increase our
interaction, confidence and can build
many skills.
16. Role of Library
• Library has different functionalities for different
kinds of students.
• “Theetas” which are
almost always less
in number are
always studying
like bookworms careless
about the world around them.
17. • While others who come for gossips and to
have fun are always there to sparkle the
atmosphere.
• Its also a good place for mutual study
largely for the purpose of increasing your
interaction.
18. Importance of Cafeteria
• The best place to go after having a boring and
lengthy lecture.
• A place where one
with his friends can
plan any mischievious activity.
• And finally can have lots of food, drinks, and
shakes and can play different card games.
19. Sports Activities
• Extra-curricular activities are very important in
grooming ones personality.
• So sports should be
given due importance
in university life as
it is a very good use
of time which keeps you
fit and healthy.
20. • Examples include cricket, football,
basketball, hockey, athletics, swimming,
body building etc.
• But for some the time for sports is many
times more than for studies and so what
happens of them is visible to everyone.
21. Hostel Life
• The standard of hostels determines whether
students adjust in them easily or with difficulty.
• Hostel messing
is a lot of mess
especially when
the timings are not
according to your
home schedule.
22. • Summers and winters can become the
most difficult time for hostellites as in
summers one sweats like anything and in
winters because of the cold one almost
freezes.
• Hostel life is a lot of fun side by side as
well as because of friends we are never
isolated and in this company we watch
films, play and roam about enjoying.
23. • Hostel life is not that simple or easy.
Especially when one has to leave his
home for the first time it is a real awkward
feeling and sometimes one also thinks of
running away as well.
• Its not that easy as
some people think it
is because one can
only feel it when one
goes through it.
24. Dating
• A hot issue in today's university life which
the youth is mad about.
• Well it is the desire of most to have a girl
or a boy friend and when you have one
then what else to do but to date.
25. • When one comes from a background in
which he hasn’t had enough interaction
with the opposite gender then it is natural
to make friends and than afterwards date.
• Important dating places inside a university
include the cafeteria, library or most
importantly a beautiful garden in some
corner of the university.
26. Conclusion
• University life plays a
pivotal role in making
ones life because it’s
the last step after which
one enters practical life.
• To say that times have changed for university
students in the 21st century is a bit like saying
that computers have made information retrieval
a little easier for researchers.
27. • Today, the difference between having a
university and not having one can affect
the entire course of ones life.
• There fore university and university life
have to be experienced otherwise one
always feels a vacuum in his life.
