Mission
The mission of the Office of Student Activities and Campus
Life is to assist in the development of life-long learners
and leaders by providing quality programs and services
that complement and enhance the academic experience.
Budget Information
• CTC students pay $45 per semester in student activity
and service fee.
• Fee supports extra curricular and co-curricular activities,
such as student clubs and organizations, campus
entertainment, leadership programs, graduation, and
other college-wide programs and services.
Student Leadership Council
The Student Advisory Team’s purpose is to represent the
student body by voicing their concerns, promoting student
interest, and advocating for student life as well as
academic concerns at Columbus Technical College by:
• Contributing to and promoting ideals, objectives, and goals of CTC
• Promoting school pride, community awareness and citizenship
• Improving student morale
• Providing a forum for student’s expressions

had an active charter at Columbus
Technical College since 1971.
Activities in this organization are
coordinated by the Welding and
Joining Technology Department. The
purpose of this organization is to
provide reliable updated information
on the technology of welding as well
as to promote community
involvement, instill character, and
develop a well-rounded individual.
International Student Association
This organization is opened
to all registered students who
identify themselves as
multicultural and are
classified as a academic,
professional, cultural,
international, or religious.
National Technical Honor Society
The purpose of National Technical Honor Society is to
promote service, leadership, honesty, and career
development; to encourage and assist student education
and career goal setting; to promote a stronger linkage
between local technical institutions and business and
industry; and to promote the image of technical education
in America.
Phi Beta Lambda
The purpose of Phi Beta Lambda is to
provide opportunities for post-secondary
students to develop business-related
career competencies.
SkillsUSA is a national organization with the purpose of
developing leadership abilities through participation in
educational, vocational, civic, recreational, and social
activities.

  • #3 CTC’s Office of Student Activities and Campus Life is a comprehensive department within the Division of Student Affairs. The office provides many opportunities for you to get involved with the campus outside of the classroom. Through the programs you can have fun, learn and live the college experience while acquiring leadership and life-long learning experiences. We encourage you to participate in activities offered on campus and get the most out of your enrollment at Columbus Technical College. Campus Life supports student clubs and organizations as well as campus activities and entertainment.
  • #4 Through the Student Advisory Team comprised of student representatives from each program of study, these funds are allocated to support cultural, social, educational, and recreational needs of CTC students. Without these fees, students would not have the variety of programs, activities, clubs and entertainment available throughout the year.
  • #5 Members of the SAT are the President or VP of each student organization, one representative per major, and Student at large representatives The SAT meets monthly during the meetings the group reviews current issues or policies that pertain to students. Who can tell me the name of the SAT representative for your program of study? The Student Advisory Team (SAT) is a unit of the Statewide Student Leadership Council. SAT is the body of officers and representatives that oversee the student activity funds of each technical school and decide how the funds will be used and distributed for the student body.   • #6 The Office of Student Activities is building a community of learners and inspiring the growth of the whole student by facilitating extracurricular and co-curricular activities which support student engagement, leadership, involvement, teamwork, retention and life-long learning opportunities. Students decide, plan and implement campus activities and programs for students of CTC. Through the SAT, students are responsible for developing, planning, implementing and deciding the various entertainment activities offered to students of such as, concerts, comedians, dances, movies, themed events, and other entertainers. The SAT is also an excellent opportunity for you to get hands-on experience in the planning and implementation of programs and entertainment to benefit all students.   • #7 The Office of Student Activities engages CTC students, faculty and staff by promoting involvement in volunteerism and service-learning programs. The focus of the Office of Student Activities is to enrich academic learning, foster civic engagement, and confront issues of public concern while improving the well being of the communities served by Columbus Technical College. This focus is met by providing community service opportunities for students and faculty, promoting the linking the service to the curriculum, and by collaborating with community -based organizations on community improvement projects and programs throughout the service area. Some of the community service projects are blood drives, distributing holiday fruit baskets to the elderly, Toys for Tots, donating toys, bicycles, and food to local shelters and community service agencies, as well as hosting voter registration drives.
  • #8 The office of student activities host and support many campus wide programs and events to include funding graduation ceremony and the graduation gala. Serving as host, tour guides, and ambassadors to promote the college.
  • #9 The office of student activities provide active leadership development programs for students to learn about and receive training in leadership skills. Students participate in retreats, leadership lectures and workshop series.
  • #10 TCC has a variety of student organizations that are sponsored by the college for the growth, development and enjoyment of the students involved. Each organization has a different emphasis, such as service, interest/activity, political, competitive, academic and/or religious in nature. However, they have several things in common, such as funding, open membership, social interaction, leadership opportunities, campus involvement, and institutional involvement.

  • #12 They will commit to the vision of the organization by establishing clear relevant goals and expectations for all members; establishing clear lines of communication between group members, Columbus Technical College and the community; as well as create a level of trust and develop positive interdependence among group members.   • #14 Phi Beta Lambda is an integral part of the instructional program and promotes a sense of civic and personal responsibility. One goal of Phi Beta Lambda is to strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work as well as assisting them in the establishment of occupational goals.
