Counting to 10

Analyse Learners
 Kindergarten
 20 students, 6 boys and 14 girls
 1 child is disabled
 3 have mild ADHD
Main Objective
 In a week my students will be able to count from 1 to 10 and count a group of 10 or less
objects by viewing a poster and picture, listening to a podcast, watching videos, writing
numbers and participating in number activities with a 85% accuracy.
Monday
 Introduction using counting poster
 Learn to count fingers using podcast and photo shop picture
 Make podcast of students counting to ten on fingers and post it to class Facebook page
Tuesday
 Present poster but focusing on what the numbers represent
 Watch personal interactive Storytelling YouTube video about counting lockers
 String and bead activity (putting the right number of beads on a string with a number
above it)
 Introduce and show the students the classroom twitter page (posts activities for parents to
do with students at home)
Wednesday
 Go over poster but focus of how the number is written
 Watch Youtube video of song about learning to count the numbers one to ten
 Hand out lined paper and students will watch personal YouTube video about how to write
numbers while writing with the video on their own sheet of paper.
 Students get a tray of sand and will count how many dots on a card and draw the
number in the sand then check their answer on the back of the card
 Introduce class blog that will have activities that reinforce what we learned each day (to
do at home)
Thursday
 Go over poster to reinforce and remind students of past lessons and prepare them for this
lesson
 Watch YouTube video on counting objects up to ten
 Show YouTube video of Arts and Bots robot
 Have students get in groups and count different objects on the robot picture
 Use Zello by having students go out in the hall and count a set of objects I give them
Friday
 Breifly look at poster
 Watch YouTube video about making numbers out of Play Dough (students will have their
own set of Play Dough so they can follow along with the video)
 Students make their own counting poster (using mine as an example)
 Show students the class wiki page that shows what we did this week (to show parents)
