Was the methodology used in the study qualitative or
quantitative?
The methodology used in the study is quantitative
What was the approach used in the study?
· If your study was qualitative, the possible approaches include
case study, phenomenology, ethnography, and grounded theory.
· If your study was quantitative, the three possible approaches
are experimental, quasi-experimental, and non-experimental.
with the study being quantitative, the approach used is quasi-
experimental
In order for research to have scientific merit in your field of
study, it must contribute new, meaningful knowledge to your
field. In a few sentences, summarize the new knowledge that
was contributed by this research. Then, write one-to-two
paragraphs explaining how this knowledge is meaningful to
your field. Also, address the importance of the application of
this knowledge by professionals in real-world settings.
Data has determined that as early as six months of age, the
scores on the Autism Parent Screen for Infants indicates a
variation between the siblings with autism and the other two
groups. the exact findings of the Autism Parent Screen for
Infants focuses on the early detection or determination of in
high-risk kids. Early detection of autism allows parents of the
child to begin early intervention allowing health professionals,
doctors and BCBA’s an early start in their treatment planning.it
has been shown that early intervention strategies increase the
likelihood that the child will lead a more normal life as opposed
to no early intervention at all.
In order for research to have scientific merit, it must advance
the theories in your field of study. In one-to-two paragraphs,
describe the theoretical foundations of the research and how the
research advanced them. For example, the research may have
tested, confirmed, extended, or modified a theory. Perhaps it
generated a new theory.
In any case like autism, early detection is better for early
intervention. Therefor the need to early detection tools must
also be there. The results of this study dictate that parents of
high risk siblings are seeing similarities about the same time as
the technological methods. Some cases may suggest its even
being noticed earlier than its noticed in a clinical setting. What
this means is that parents that already have kids on the autism
spectrum are seeing the same signs in their younger children
that they saw in the older children when they were being tested.
Since the parents know what to look for they are seeing it
sooner than traditional screening for autism.
Describe the sample and the sampling procedures; that is, the
way in which the participants were selected. Avoid quoting the
study, and use your own descriptions. Evaluate whether the
sample and sampling procedures were appropriate for the
methodology and approach.
Because data in this study is from a larger sample size and
numerical its studied statistically and measured objectively.
Following sampling procedures, this study included the infant
siblings, between the age of six to twelve months old, of kids
diagnosed with autism(n = 138 and 79, respectively). All of the
subjects were from an autism treatment center located in
Canada. Because of these factors I believe the sampling
procedures were appropriate for the methodology and approach
because randomization would not work for this study.
Describe the data collection procedure. This would start after
participants gave informed consent, and end when the
participants have completed the study. Avoid quoting the study
and use your own descriptions. If your methodology was
qualitative, you might be describing interview procedures, for
example. If your methodology was quantitative, make sure you
describe any group assignment methods or any repeated
measures, such as a pretest or post-test. Evaluate whether the
data collection procedure was appropriate for the methodology
and approach.
The study looks at if the Autism Parent Screen for Infants is
capable to distinguishing between three groups of infants or not.
The groups were divided up into the three groups that consisted
of those who are considered to be low risk, those considered to
be of a high risk and those who eventually get diagnosed with
autism. The children were examined in 3 month increments of
age with a blind independent diagnostic assessment for autism.
The parents were given a questionnaire to fill out while the
child was screened with traditional methods. This was done
every three months starting at six months old. I believe this data
collection was appropriate for the methodology and approach.
Describe the data analysis procedure. If your methodology was
quantitative, you need only describe the procedure or the
statistical tests. Avoid quoting the study and use your own
descriptions. Evaluate whether the data analysis procedure was
appropriate for the methodology and approach.
The subjects were examined at three month intervals.
Assessments were done at 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months old.
At 36 months, a blind diagnostic assessment was performed
with those who were diagnosed with autism. Researchers looked
at the data collected and examined the relationship between risk
and outcome. This was done by comparing the results with the
screening. The risks were categorized by high-risk sibling with
autism spectrum disorder, high-risk sibling without autism
spectrum disorder, and low-risk. These kinds of studies are
constantly collecting new data allowing others to use or
compare. Effect sizes were calculated for group differences
between the two HR groups using Cohen’s d, with 0.2–
0.49 = small effect, 0.5–0.79 = medium effect, and 0.8 + = large
effect. This procedure appears to be appropriate.
Describe the findings and the conclusions the researchers made.
Evaluate whether the conclusions allowed the researchers to
answer the research questions and address the research problem.
A chi-square analysis was completed to determine if there were
differences in the clinical characteristics of the children who
have parents compete versus not complete APSI forms. There
were no differences in the proportion of parents in each group
who completed APSI forms (χ(2) = 3.56, p = 0.107).The findings
show that the screen for infants could in fact predict with good
accuracy which infants in the study would eventually be
diagnosed with autism at as early as six months of old. The
questionnaire given to the subjects has been determined to
provide a high validity (Sacrey, Bryson & et. al., 2018). It is
likely that this screen will be used in the early determination of
autism in order to get early intervention started.
Provide an APA-formatted references list, compiling all of the
resources you have used for the course project thus far.

  • 2. study, it must contribute new, meaningful knowledge to your field. In a few sentences, summarize the new knowledge that was contributed by this research. Then, write one-to-two paragraphs explaining how this knowledge is meaningful to your field. Also, address the importance of the application of this knowledge by professionals in real-world settings. Data has determined that as early as six months of age, the scores on the Autism Parent Screen for Infants indicates a variation between the siblings with autism and the other two groups. the exact findings of the Autism Parent Screen for Infants focuses on the early detection or determination of in high-risk kids. Early detection of autism allows parents of the child to begin early intervention allowing health professionals, doctors and BCBA’s an early start in their treatment planning.it has been shown that early intervention strategies increase the likelihood that the child will lead a more normal life as opposed to no early intervention at all. In order for research to have scientific merit, it must advance the theories in your field of study. In one-to-two paragraphs, describe the theoretical foundations of the research and how the research advanced them. For example, the research may have tested, confirmed, extended, or modified a theory. Perhaps it generated a new theory. In any case like autism, early detection is better for early intervention. Therefor the need to early detection tools must also be there. The results of this study dictate that parents of high risk siblings are seeing similarities about the same time as the technological methods. Some cases may suggest its even being noticed earlier than its noticed in a clinical setting. What this means is that parents that already have kids on the autism spectrum are seeing the same signs in their younger children that they saw in the older children when they were being tested. Since the parents know what to look for they are seeing it sooner than traditional screening for autism. Describe the sample and the sampling procedures; that is, the way in which the participants were selected. Avoid quoting the
  • 3. study, and use your own descriptions. Evaluate whether the sample and sampling procedures were appropriate for the methodology and approach. Because data in this study is from a larger sample size and numerical its studied statistically and measured objectively. Following sampling procedures, this study included the infant siblings, between the age of six to twelve months old, of kids diagnosed with autism(n = 138 and 79, respectively). All of the subjects were from an autism treatment center located in Canada. Because of these factors I believe the sampling procedures were appropriate for the methodology and approach because randomization would not work for this study. Describe the data collection procedure. This would start after participants gave informed consent, and end when the participants have completed the study. Avoid quoting the study and use your own descriptions. If your methodology was qualitative, you might be describing interview procedures, for example. If your methodology was quantitative, make sure you describe any group assignment methods or any repeated measures, such as a pretest or post-test. Evaluate whether the data collection procedure was appropriate for the methodology and approach. The study looks at if the Autism Parent Screen for Infants is capable to distinguishing between three groups of infants or not. The groups were divided up into the three groups that consisted of those who are considered to be low risk, those considered to be of a high risk and those who eventually get diagnosed with autism. The children were examined in 3 month increments of age with a blind independent diagnostic assessment for autism. The parents were given a questionnaire to fill out while the child was screened with traditional methods. This was done every three months starting at six months old. I believe this data collection was appropriate for the methodology and approach. Describe the data analysis procedure. If your methodology was quantitative, you need only describe the procedure or the statistical tests. Avoid quoting the study and use your own
  • 4. descriptions. Evaluate whether the data analysis procedure was appropriate for the methodology and approach. The subjects were examined at three month intervals. Assessments were done at 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months old. At 36 months, a blind diagnostic assessment was performed with those who were diagnosed with autism. Researchers looked at the data collected and examined the relationship between risk and outcome. This was done by comparing the results with the screening. The risks were categorized by high-risk sibling with autism spectrum disorder, high-risk sibling without autism spectrum disorder, and low-risk. These kinds of studies are constantly collecting new data allowing others to use or compare. Effect sizes were calculated for group differences between the two HR groups using Cohen’s d, with 0.2– 0.49 = small effect, 0.5–0.79 = medium effect, and 0.8 + = large effect. This procedure appears to be appropriate. Describe the findings and the conclusions the researchers made. Evaluate whether the conclusions allowed the researchers to answer the research questions and address the research problem. A chi-square analysis was completed to determine if there were differences in the clinical characteristics of the children who have parents compete versus not complete APSI forms. There were no differences in the proportion of parents in each group who completed APSI forms (χ(2) = 3.56, p = 0.107).The findings show that the screen for infants could in fact predict with good accuracy which infants in the study would eventually be diagnosed with autism at as early as six months of old. The questionnaire given to the subjects has been determined to provide a high validity (Sacrey, Bryson & et. al., 2018). It is likely that this screen will be used in the early determination of autism in order to get early intervention started. Provide an APA-formatted references list, compiling all of the resources you have used for the course project thus far. Leedy, P. D., Ormrod, J. E., & Johnson, L. R. (2019).
