Coaches Review: Scott was able to perform all of the sets and reps of each
exercise regarding training his legs. Although he found that by
the end of the session he was beginning to fatigue and found
the exercises more difficult.
Coaches Review: Scott was able to perform all of the different sprints distances I
had set out for him with relative ease.
Athlete Feedback
/ Questions:
Scott said he was able to complete all exercises however he
stated that he began fatiguing and found the last few sets
quite a challenge.

Because Scott began to fatigue during the last sets of exercise
my plan of not progressing or overloading was ideal as he
could struggle and not be able to complete all exercises if

If No Describe:
Perhaps my plan of not progressing was not ideal as Scott
found this first week of speed training relatively easy and
therefore could have done with a higher intensity for
upcoming weeks however I wanted to ensure that Scott

than last weeks training however still felt fatigued by the end
of the session.

Athlete Feedback
/ Questions:
Scott asked about whether waiting the first three weeks
before progressing training was a good idea and I explained
that I wanted to ensure he sustained a good level of sprinting
before progression took place so that he did not struggle in
later weeks.

Coaches Review: Scott was able to perform all of the sets and reps of each
exercise regarding training his legs with the higher weights.
Similarly to week one he struggled and fatigued as
approaching the end of the session however this is what I was
expected as it is the first session with progression and
overload.
Coaches Review: Scott was able to perform all of the different sprint distances I
had set out for him.
Athlete Feedback

Scott said he was able to complete all exercises however he
stated that he began fatiguing and found the last few sets
quite a challenge.
Athlete Feedback
/ Questions:
Scott had no feedback or questions.
Is Progress As
Expected?
If No Describe:
Progress is as expected because Scott was able to perform and
sustain the whole training session with the higher medium
intensity weights. He may have felt fatigue similarly to what
he felt in week one however this is expected when
progressing to higher weights.
Is Progress As

Plans
Appropriate?
If No Describe:
I believe my next weeks overload and progression plans are
appropriate as Scott was able to complete all the exercises this
week and the next session is not an increase in weight but a
decrease in rest time and I would expect Scott to be able to
complete the session, again obviously expecting some fatigue.

Describe whether the tests show that
progress is being made as planned?
The tests do show that progress is being made as planned as Scott
after the first 4 weeks has made improvements in both of his aimed
areas. Scott's power has increased slightly from 42cm -46cm being his
best result. Although Scott has made improvements I am sceptical
whether he will reach his target we both set out for him at 52cm. As
only a 4cm increase has been made I now expect perhaps him to reach
50cm after the final 4 weeks. Scott's speed has also increased a
considerable amount going from 5.10 seconds – 5 seconds being his
best result. Again however similarly with Scott's power I am sceptical
whether he will be able to reach the target of 4.85 seconds we
originally set out as he has only made a 0.10 second decrease within
the first 4 weeks. I now looking at Scott’s current progress expect him
to reach the target of 4.90 seconds.
Does the mid point review show that weeks 5-8
need to be adapted? Describe How you will
adapt your sessions?
After my mid week testing and reviewing Scott's results I have
decided that the final 4 weeks do not need to be adapted for
either one of the improvement area. Despite the fact as
mentioned in the previous slide I am sceptical that Scott will
reach his set targets I am still very pleased that there is a clear
amount of progression made and rather than change the final 4
weeks of my training programme to try and push Scott to reach
his targets I would rather keep a steady rate of progression
taking place and ensure he adapts in the correct way to benefit
him greater.

Similarities and Differences between
Previous Task and Week 4
Similarities
After the first 4 weeks of training and reviewing Scott at this midway point, there are some
similarities regarding his API/ASA and Profiling wheel. Firstly Scotts coach has clearly not seen any
improvement in his power and he continued to score him the a 7, the same as when training
started. Another thing which is unchanged is Scotts perceived importance score for power as it
has stayed at an 8. I have also kept Scotts speed score and after re-testing and reviewing at a 7.
His coach
Differences
After the first 4 weeks of training and reviewing Scott at this midway point, some changes have
occurred regarding his API/ASA and Profiling wheel. Since the previous task up until this current
midpoint Scotts training has caused adaption to take place in his body. Starting with Power as his
first weakness, I have already noticed changes in Scotts performances and after re-testing and
reviewing Scott I have chosen to raise his score from a 4 to a 6. After 4 weeks of training Scott
must also feel that a slight adaption has taken place and that his power has improved as his ASA
he scored himself a 7, compared to a 6 previously. Scott similarly to power has increased his ASA
score from a 6 to a 7 meaning he feels that his speed has improved slightly after 4 weeks of
training and he has also increased his API score from a 6 to a 7 meaning that because of training
he has been able to see the effects it has on the pitch and how it has helped him. Scotts coach
has also increased his rating of speed from a 6 to a 7.

He found it a little easier than last weeks training however still felt fatigued by the end of the session. Coaches Review: Once again Scott was able to perform all of the different sprints distances I had set out for him with relative ease. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Scott did not ask any questions or give any feedback after exercise. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Scott asked about whether waiting the first three weeks before progressing training was a good idea and I explained that I wanted to ensure he sustained a good level of sprinting before progression took place so that he did not struggle in later weeks. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: There is no progression taking place in this week. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: There is no progression taking place in this week. Are the Next Session Overload and Progression Plans Appropriate? If No Describe: Although Scott found the training exercise a little easier he still stated that he began to fatigue during the end of the session so my plan of not progressing or overloading training was ideal as he could potentially struggle and not be able to complete all exercises if intensity was increased. Are the Next Session Overload and Progression Plans Appropriate? If No Describe: Again perhaps my plan of not progressing was not ideal as Scott found the second week similar to the first in that he performed it relatively easily and therefore could have potentially done with a higher intensity for upcoming weeks however I wanted to ensure that Scott sustained a good sturdy level of sprinting before making progression plans. Similarly to week one he struggled and fatigued as approaching the end of the session however this is what I was expected as it is the first session with progression and overload. Coaches Review: Scott was able to perform all of the different sprint distances I had set out for him. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Scott said he was able to complete all exercises however he stated that he began fatiguing and found the last few sets quite a challenge. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Scott had no feedback or questions. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: Progress is as expected because Scott was able to perform and sustain the whole training session with the higher medium intensity weights. He may have felt fatigue similarly to what he felt in week one however this is expected when progressing to higher weights. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: Progress is as expected. Are the Next Session Overload and Progression Plans Appropriate? If No Describe: I believe my next weeks overload and progression plans are appropriate as Scott was able to complete all the exercises this week and the next session is not an increase in weight but a decrease in rest time and I would expect Scott to be able to complete the session, again obviously expecting some fatigue. • 8. Describe whether the tests show that progress is being made as planned? The tests do show that progress is being made as planned as Scott after the first 4 weeks has made improvements in both of his aimed areas. Scott's power has increased slightly from 42cm -46cm being his best result. Although Scott has made improvements I am sceptical whether he will reach his target we both set out for him at 52cm. As only a 4cm increase has been made I now expect perhaps him to reach 50cm after the final 4 weeks. Scott's speed has also increased a considerable amount going from 5.10 seconds – 5 seconds being his best result. Again however similarly with Scott's power I am sceptical whether he will be able to reach the target of 4.85 seconds we originally set out as he has only made a 0.10 second decrease within the first 4 weeks. I now looking at Scott’s current progress expect him to reach the target of 4.90 seconds.
  • 9. Does the mid point review show that weeks 5-8 need to be adapted? Describe How you will adapt your sessions? After my mid week testing and reviewing Scott's results I have decided that the final 4 weeks do not need to be adapted for either one of the improvement area. Despite the fact as mentioned in the previous slide I am sceptical that Scott will reach his set targets I am still very pleased that there is a clear amount of progression made and rather than change the final 4 weeks of my training programme to try and push Scott to reach his targets I would rather keep a steady rate of progression taking place and ensure he adapts in the correct way to benefit him greater.

  • 12. Similarities and Differences between Previous Task and Week 4 Similarities After the first 4 weeks of training and reviewing Scott at this midway point, there are some similarities regarding his API/ASA and Profiling wheel. Firstly Scotts coach has clearly not seen any improvement in his power and he continued to score him the a 7, the same as when training started. Another thing which is unchanged is Scotts perceived importance score for power as it has stayed at an 8. I have also kept Scotts speed score and after re-testing and reviewing at a 7. His coach Differences After the first 4 weeks of training and reviewing Scott at this midway point, some changes have occurred regarding his API/ASA and Profiling wheel. Since the previous task up until this current midpoint Scotts training has caused adaption to take place in his body. Starting with Power as his first weakness, I have already noticed changes in Scotts performances and after re-testing and reviewing Scott I have chosen to raise his score from a 4 to a 6. After 4 weeks of training Scott must also feel that a slight adaption has taken place and that his power has improved as his ASA he scored himself a 7, compared to a 6 previously. Scott similarly to power has increased his ASA score from a 6 to a 7 meaning he feels that his speed has improved slightly after 4 weeks of training and he has also increased his API score from a 6 to a 7 meaning that because of training he has been able to see the effects it has on the pitch and how it has helped him. Scotts coach has also increased his rating of speed from a 6 to a 7.
