This clip contains continuity editing where we see the two different people in a parallel edit
in the same situation. It has continuality to create sense of danger for the audience because
they see the character’s running out of time as the ice moves towards the edge of the
waterfall. This creates a fast rhythm as the male runs because he is running out of time to
safe the other character from the waterfall. This kind of edit helps the audience feel worried
about the other character. Near the end there is a jump cut as the screen changes as he
rescues the girl. This is manipulation of time has been used because some scenes look like
they have been sped up so it feels like everything Is happening faster.
Examples of parallel editing the silence of the Lambs
The parallel editing is the technique of continuously alternating two scenes that happen
simultaneously in two different locations. This clip is a misdirect because audiences believe
the two scenes are linked into each other and he is about to be caught by the FBI but the
scenes are happening at the same time but they are not the same thing someone else is at
the door when the bell rings. The impact of the clips you might think about the caught until
you realize that the end that the scenes are happening in two different places. The point in
putting the scenes together like this is to create tension and suspense as people believe the
FBI is getting closer to catch him. The Parallel editing is used throughout the scenes is sued
to mislead the audience such as when the flower guy rings the door bell the alarm goes off
as he is ringing the bell All the starts of the scenes we are shown an establishing shot so we
can see where the scenes is taking place. In some places we get over the shoulder shot of
the killer this is to show what the character sees and audiences are expecting to see the
flower man who they saw before but when he opens the door Clarice is standing there and
audiences are shocked because they have been misled and now don’t know where the
scene is taking place.

In rocky 3 montage is used to show a large period of time passing in the movie in a short
period of time as we see Rocky going through his training. This is done to move the story
forward and move time within the movie while also informing people of what the character
has done tru the time passed. The use of different medium shots, close up and long shots is
to show the training that he is going tru and how hard he has worked during this time which
is the start and the end of the montage. The montage Is effective because it shows the
audience what the character has been through and keeps them interested by showing a
montage of what the character has done because it keeps them informed while keeping it
entertaining with music in the background.

This clip is another clip which shows the purpose of mintage is to show a period of time
which is moving forward and also to inform the audience of what’s happened to the
character In the frame. The montage is a collection of other montages which are more likely
to appeal to the audience because they might recognize the original piece from what is
happening in the scene and find it funny. They also use familiar music which shows more
interest to the audiences. The use of effectively because it uses montages that audiences
are familiar with seeing so it’s easier to interact with them and engage and even enjoy the
make parody of them scenes. A variety of shots are used such as medium shots long shots
close ups zooms ins and zoom outs these kind of shots are used to keep the audiences more
interested and the montage going to show what’s changed and what’s about to change.
However, the movement and variety of shots makes the montage more effective and makes
the audiences believe that something has changed.
This montage is like the rocky one because you can see how much progress has been made
as they are showing you how the have made it and the time that it took and how much and
how long it took them to get there. The other two are also effective because one shows
humor and the other shows sadness and loss and you understand that time has passed and
all of them. The rocky montage also shows a variety of shots to keep people entertained and
focused on the scene

In this scene a montage is used to show a large amount of time in a small time frame. This is
done to show people reacting to the situation they are in. it also shows multiple other
reaction from differed characters this is done so it it’s a reaction from the audience to show
the devastation and how scared and terrified characters are. This is done so the audience
feel emotional towards the certain character. Another shot used in this montage is called
short reverse shot this is done to show how the child got shot and then the camera cuts to
the mother of the child to show her reaction then cuts back to the child dying. This
technique is done so we see the panic within the characters in the scene. This is also
effective to the audience it makes them have sympathy for the characters for example the
mother and the child that dies. The montage successfully gives the effect because we know
what the characters feel in the scene. At the end the audience are worried about the safety
of the children and older people because they are more venerable that others which lets
them connect to the character in the movie.

It has continuality to create sense of danger for the audience because they see the character’s running out of time as the ice moves towards the edge of the waterfall. This creates a fast rhythm as the male runs because he is running out of time to safe the other character from the waterfall. This kind of edit helps the audience feel worried about the other character. Near the end there is a jump cut as the screen changes as he rescues the girl. This is manipulation of time has been used because some scenes look like they have been sped up so it feels like everything Is happening faster. Examples of parallel editing the silence of the Lambs The parallel editing is the technique of continuously alternating two scenes that happen simultaneously in two different locations. This clip is a misdirect because audiences believe the two scenes are linked into each other and he is about to be caught by the FBI but the scenes are happening at the same time but they are not the same thing someone else is at the door when the bell rings. The impact of the clips you might think about the caught until you realize that the end that the scenes are happening in two different places. The point in putting the scenes together like this is to create tension and suspense as people believe the FBI is getting closer to catch him. The Parallel editing is used throughout the scenes is sued to mislead the audience such as when the flower guy rings the door bell the alarm goes off as he is ringing the bell All the starts of the scenes we are shown an establishing shot so we can see where the scenes is taking place. In some places we get over the shoulder shot of the killer this is to show what the character sees and audiences are expecting to see the flower man who they saw before but when he opens the door Clarice is standing there and audiences are shocked because they have been misled and now don’t know where the scene is taking place. This is done to move the story forward and move time within the movie while also informing people of what the character has done tru the time passed. The use of different medium shots, close up and long shots is to show the training that he is going tru and how hard he has worked during this time which is the start and the end of the montage. The montage Is effective because it shows the audience what the character has been through and keeps them interested by showing a montage of what the character has done because it keeps them informed while keeping it entertaining with music in the background. The montage is a collection of other montages which are more likely to appeal to the audience because they might recognize the original piece from what is happening in the scene and find it funny. They also use familiar music which shows more interest to the audiences. The use of effectively because it uses montages that audiences are familiar with seeing so it’s easier to interact with them and engage and even enjoy the make parody of them scenes. A variety of shots are used such as medium shots long shots close ups zooms ins and zoom outs these kind of shots are used to keep the audiences more interested and the montage going to show what’s changed and what’s about to change. However, the movement and variety of shots makes the montage more effective and makes the audiences believe that something has changed. This montage is like the rocky one because you can see how much progress has been made as they are showing you how the have made it and the time that it took and how much and how long it took them to get there. The other two are also effective because one shows humor and the other shows sadness and loss and you understand that time has passed and all of them. This is done to show people reacting to the situation they are in. it also shows multiple other reaction from differed characters this is done so it it’s a reaction from the audience to show the devastation and how scared and terrified characters are. This is done so the audience feel emotional towards the certain character. Another shot used in this montage is called short reverse shot this is done to show how the child got shot and then the camera cuts to the mother of the child to show her reaction then cuts back to the child dying. This technique is done so we see the panic within the characters in the scene. This is also effective to the audience it makes them have sympathy for the characters for example the mother and the child that dies. The montage successfully gives the effect because we know what the characters feel in the scene. At the end the audience are worried about the safety of the children and older people because they are more venerable that others which lets them connect to the character in the movie.
