This document contains a lesson plan about gaining information from maps, photographs, and words in informational texts. It includes: 1) A reading assignment called "Kids to the Rescue" about siblings who helped animals affected by an oil spill. 2) A chart for students to fill out analyzing the photographs, maps, and other features in the text and how they aid understanding. 3) Different activities and questions teachers will use to guide student discussion and comprehension of the key points in the text.
