There are lab materials along with lecture to explain how the human body functions that are directly related to their structure.
Student Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, students will be able to recognize and explain the principle of homeostasis, the anatomical structures, and the physiological functions of body systems. Similarly, students will be able to identify the interrelationships within and between anatomical and physiological systems of the human body. Lastly, students will be conversant with the identification of specific cells, tissues, and types of bones in the human body.
Teaching methods that we used in this course
The teaching methods that we used throughout the course is a combination of teaching strategies methods to teach the undergraduate human anatomy class. First, we used plastic models in the lab for facilitating active learning and student engagement throughout the human anatomy course. Also, the human model that we have consisted of the human skeleton and muscles. Secondly, we used prosections and cadavers' dissections, which allow students to see all organs and tissues present at once and allowing students to understand the physical nature of the human body tissues.
Furthermore, the cadavers’ dissections provide students hands-on activity to encourage knowledge of skills that apply to clinical conditions in future careers. Lastly, we utilized computer-assisted technology to support students in learning human anatomy in their choice place and time. For example, if a student gets sick and he is not able attend the class that day so they can access this technology anytime and learn the materials of the course that he missed in the lab.
The resources of the human anatomy and physiology class
The resources of the human anatomy and physiology class for students included online lectures in the YouTube in each lesson. Also, Materials such as images and extra reviewing sheets on the Pilot and Notebook were availed in the university's bookstore on campus. - 2. The simulation help the teacher to explain to the student by “frame” of motion process thus overcome misconception of the student. By simulation, teacher can show what really happened to the normal force, gravitational force and tension force when the degree of the plane board are increase. It also help the student to relate the relationship between changes in degree of the plane board with the three forces. Compare to traditional way of teaching, simulation help to live up the class thus can create a two way process of teaching and learning that enhance the understanding of student. The simulation can attract the attention of the student thus increase their interest on the subject in turn sharpened the student understanding on the subject.
- 3. With this simulation it help the student in away that they didn’t need to personally build the motion system themselves. With simulation, the system is already virtually have been set up and the student will only have to observe the changed or the outcome of the process. Help the student to imagines something that they can’t see with their naked eye like force thus help them to understand more on the topic. With this topic, thing that are can’t be seen are normal force, gravitational force and tension force. With simulation the student can virtually observe what happened to the force.
- 4. Students can experiencing in conducting the variables which are the concentration of water and salt at the inside and outside of animal cell. In the same time they can see the effects directly on the animal cell shape and pressure at the inside and outside of the cell It can help the student to visualized and get the picture of membranes and how the water molecules move outside and inside of cell compared to the traditional way where the explanation is more to verbal way and students feel bored because they only can see static visual.
- 5. Students do not need to wait for laboratory practical to see the effect that occur on cell, so time for teaching and learning process can be use wisely.
