An herbarium with 55 years of history, with plants from the
botanical expedition of “Mutis” to Nuevo Reino de Granada 1783-
1808 and the legacy of doctor Germán Bula Meyer.
The herbarium Unimagdalena is close to strategic ecosystems
such as Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Ciénaga Grande de Santa
Marta, Bosque Seco Tropical, among others.
CAMPUS BIOCULTURAL UNIMAGDALENA
Unimagdalena has…
A biological collections center (CBUMAG) with oficial registration
from the Alexander Von Humboldt Research Institute of Biological
Resources.
CBUMAG has seven different biological collections, with a total of
10.000 samples among seaweeds, insects, biophytes and
microorganisms, among others.
CAMPUS BIOCULTURAL UNIMAGDALENA
Unimagdalena has…
“Living Classroom” meaning a permanent trac of tropical dry forest (BST), one of
the most threatened ecosystems in Colombia and the world. Restoring this
forest becomes a successful study case of climate change adaptation.
The Biology program, with high quality accreditation, studies and preserves
different species of flora and fauna on BST. The Tropical Medicine Doctorate
investigates tropical diseases and traditional medicine.

  • 20. Unimagdalena has… An herbarium with 55 years of history, with plants from the botanical expedition of “Mutis” to Nuevo Reino de Granada 1783- 1808 and the legacy of doctor Germán Bula Meyer. The herbarium Unimagdalena is close to strategic ecosystems such as Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta, Bosque Seco Tropical, among others. CAMPUS BIOCULTURAL UNIMAGDALENA
  • 21. Unimagdalena has… A biological collections center (CBUMAG) with oficial registration from the Alexander Von Humboldt Research Institute of Biological Resources. CBUMAG has seven different biological collections, with a total of 10.000 samples among seaweeds, insects, biophytes and microorganisms, among others. CAMPUS BIOCULTURAL UNIMAGDALENA
  • 22. Unimagdalena has… “Living Classroom” meaning a permanent trac of tropical dry forest (BST), one of the most threatened ecosystems in Colombia and the world. Restoring this forest becomes a successful study case of climate change adaptation. The Biology program, with high quality accreditation, studies and preserves different species of flora and fauna on BST.
