● An umbrella term encompassing the diversity of gender
expression.
● People whose gender expression is not confined to
traditional or socially constructed gender roles.
● Anatomical sex as different than their gender identity.
● Some consider themselves transsexual.
Transgender
● Umbrella term frequently used to connote a non-hete
rosexual or non-gender conforming identity.
● Sometimes used with political intent → activism!
● Is a term often used with particular reference to people
who may be genuinely uncertain about sexual
orientation in their lives .
Questioning?
● Someone born with an anatomy that does not fit the
expected presentation of a biological male or female.
● Previously referred to hermaphrodite → a stigmatizing
term!

● An umbrella term encompassing the diversity of people that
feel no sexual attraction to people of any gender.
● They can still choose to have sex, can still love, can still be
involved with a romantic partner or get married, and can still
engage in normal relationships.
● Asexuality doesn’t describe what a person chooses to do, but
rather how a person feels.
● Asexual people have emotional needs, feel attraction to
others, and can even feel arousal: they just don’t feel sexual
attraction.

● Someone who actively confronts heterosexism, anti-
LGBTQ biases, heterosexual and cisgender privilege in
themselves and others.
● Being an ally is not an identity, it’s an action!

● A person attracted to other more by individual
personality, differing from bisexuality in that they ignore
