Launching a Rocketship Off Someone Else's Backjoshelman
The document discusses strategies for startups to build on top of large platforms to gain users and grow rapidly. It notes that while platforms are not there to specifically help startups, they can be beneficial for acceleration if used correctly. The key strategies are to 1) build products that provide clear value to users and incentives for the platform, 2) design products to work independently of platforms since platforms will change, and 3) use platforms for user acquisition and acceleration only, not as a primary distribution method or business model. Successful examples include Instagram, YouTube, and Dubsmash who leveraged platforms initially but became independent destinations.

The process involves setting goals, brainstorming growth ideas, prioritizing experiments, testing hypotheses through minimum viable tests, implementing experiments, analyzing results, and systematizing successful experiments. Establishing this type of process allows a company to continuously run experiments, learn, and scale growth over time through an organized and data-driven approach.
Websites influence 97% of customer purchasing decisions. That clearly means your business site needs to be a good one, and it should have relevant content. Your company website has to be regularly updated with new products and the latest news. No one will prefer to do business with a company whose website is out-dated and not in sync with the latest technology. Many small businesses put up a website and then leave it alone — but today’s websites are no longer static. The internet browsers are also getting updated with the times, so if your website is not compatible with the latest browsers, then you will definitely lose a business opportunity.
Viral videos don't just happen. They require luck and serious data science research. Here are 5 proven complete strategies to use data to determine what viral video content will have the best chance of catching fire. These marketing strategies can be used for video, content marketing, social media marketing and SEO. They are from a presentation that I did at Digital Marketer's Traffic & Conversion Summit.

How ecommerce companies can do more with less shopping ad budget in 2020Jeff Deutsch
Marketers who depend on ecommerce for revenue have to do more than ever with limited budgets.
The best place to start increasing efficiency is improving customer experience with Shopping Ads.
Ecommerce companies can reduce Shopping Ad budgets by 48% while generating the same amount of revenue.
Research has indicated this in the past, and several cases from Longtail UX users below demonstrate this in practice.
Nearly Half of All Shopping Ad Spend Is Wasted
In online retail, a full 76% of paid search goes to Shopping Ads. However, studies have shown that nearly half that spend is wasted. One simple change may be all it takes to eliminate that waste: listing multiple products on the landing page that match the shopper’s search (rather than just one single product.)
Considering that 18% of all ecommerce ad spend goes to paid search, reducing that waste can lead to significant savings – around 6.8% of the total ad budget – for companies looking to tighten their belts.

The document advocates using customer data like purchase history, location, age and loyalty status to personalize things like recommended products, search results, and homepage content. It provides examples of how merchandising could be tailored for different locations, customer types, or based on browsing behavior. David Harrison discusses effective digital marketing strategies for websites. A successful site should attract visitors through search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, social media, banners, and offline marketing. It should then convert visitors into customers by giving them a reason to take action. The site needs to fulfill customer needs and retain customers by staying in contact through email, blog posts, and offers. Getting all four steps - attract, convert, fulfill, and retain - right is key to maximizing a site's potential.

Similar products personalization presentationUnbxd
This presentation from Unbxd discusses in detail how the Similar Products recommendation widget aids in enhancing product discovery for ecommerce websites.
The document discusses the challenges of determining "top sellers" on a website to personalize the customer experience. It notes that brands currently show the same content to all visitors regardless of who they are. Determining top sellers is difficult as it needs to account for real-time visitor behavior, affinity, geo-trends, multiple signals, catalog changes, and more. Several dilemmas are presented, such as how to display top sellers from multiple categories equally rather than just one dominant category. An adaptive, machine-learning approach is needed to strategically determine relevant top sellers.
This document provides a summary of key features that should be tested when evaluating a site search engine, including: auto-complete, spellchecking, stemming, category and contextual searching, weighted terms, spatial searching, and synonym matching. It explains how each feature can improve the user experience and search relevance. Testing these features helps ensure the search engine returns high quality results for users.

Bram Verhoef, Head of Machine Learning at Axelera AI, presents the “How Axelera AI Uses Digital Compute-in-memory to Deliver Fast and Energy-efficient Computer Vision” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
As artificial intelligence inference transitions from cloud environments to edge locations, computer vision applications achieve heightened responsiveness, reliability and privacy. This migration, however, introduces the challenge of operating within the stringent confines of resource constraints typical at the edge, including small form factors, low energy budgets and diminished memory and computational capacities. Axelera AI addresses these challenges through an innovative approach of performing digital computations within memory itself. This technique facilitates the realization of high-performance, energy-efficient and cost-effective computer vision capabilities at the thin and thick edge, extending the frontier of what is achievable with current technologies.
In this presentation, Verhoef unveils his company’s pioneering chip technology and demonstrates its capacity to deliver exceptional frames-per-second performance across a range of standard computer vision networks typical of applications in security, surveillance and the industrial sector. This shows that advanced computer vision can be accessible and efficient, even at the very edge of our technological ecosystem.

Digital Banking in the Cloud: How Citizens Bank Unlocked Their MainframePrecisely
Inconsistent user experience and siloed data, high costs, and changing customer expectations – Citizens Bank was experiencing these challenges while it was attempting to deliver a superior digital banking experience for its clients. Its core banking applications run on the mainframe and Citizens was using legacy utilities to get the critical mainframe data to feed customer-facing channels, like call centers, web, and mobile. Ultimately, this led to higher operating costs (MIPS), delayed response times, and longer time to market.
Ever-changing customer expectations demand more modern digital experiences, and the bank needed to find a solution that could provide real-time data to its customer channels with low latency and operating costs. Join this session to learn how Citizens is leveraging Precisely to replicate mainframe data to its customer channels and deliver on their “modern digital bank” experiences.
