Dear Parents,
Saturday 22 September is our Alumni inauguration. This will be a
highlight of the school calendar as current and past students and
community members join together.
Please note that for the National Holiday, school will close on Friday 28
September at the usual time and starts again on Wednesday 10 October
for years 1 to 12. Monday and Tuesday are Professional Development
Days for staff, with teachers improving their profession practice and
knowledge of the curriculum. Our Early Years classes will begin one day
earlier on Tuesday October 9 as planned due to their late start.
Due to the Super Typhoon, all MYP Camps were canceled (postponed)
as was Year 11 Skills Week.
Year 12 Skills Week is still running with a focus on University Application
processes (Tues.), Group 4 Projects (Integrated Sciences)(Wed.),
Extended Essay (Thurs.) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK)(Fri.)
Wednesday the school is hosting a University Information session for
parents in the MFH at 10:00. Translators will be on hand for Chinese,
Korean and Japanese parents.
On Wednesday Primary will hold the first Parent Student Teacher
Conference Day. This will be for students in Year 1 to Year 6. There will
be no school for students on this day, however, students are expected to
be at the conference with their parents. This is an opportunity to
celebrate learning and discuss goals for the future. If you have not yet
signed up for a time, an email with the sign up link was sent on
Wednesday 12th September.
Wednesday is a regular school day for all our EY students (K-K3). We
sent information regarding the Parent Teacher Conference days
(September 17th, 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th) for the EY parents to
choose the day and time. If you are unable to find a convenient day and
time to meet, please send an email to the homeroom teacher.
On Thursday the K2/K3 students will have their Mother-Tongue
Storytelling at 2:40pm. Information was sent out via email to save trees.
If you are interested to be a storyteller please fill out the form and email
it back to your class teacher or to Ms. Connie cchan@utahloy.com The
next parent letter will be sent out on Monday with the list of dates for
the remaining school year and procedures to follow. Thank you in
advance to those parent volunteers who signed up to come and read to
the children.
On Thursday Year 5 parents are invited to attend an Information
Meeting regarding the Y5 Camp in Yangshuo. This meeting will take
place at 8:45am in the Year 5 Green Classroom (A203).
Thank you to those parents who came to meet the Primary Leadership
Team (PLT) on Thursday. There was lots of constructive discussion on
many areas of the Primary School. The PLT took note of all your
comments and will strive to follow-up with discussions.
With the announcement of camp being delayed we will have regular
after school practice once school resumes.
