Dear
QSI
Families,
As
we
start
a
new
school
year,
I
would
like
to
share
some
information
with
you:
Urgent:
QSI
International
School
of
Phuket
is
in
need
of
community
members
who
are
interested
to
serve
on
our
school
Advisory
Board.
This
is
a
very
important
role
our
school
community.
Advisory
Board
members
consult
with
the
Director
in
an
advisory
manner
to
help
the
director
make
informed
decisions
about
all
aspects
of
the
school.
If
you
are
interested
please
send
an
email
to
phuket@qsi.org.
Parking:
As
our
school
is
growing,
parking
can
be
tricky
so
we
plead
for
your
patience!
The
school
is
looking
at
how
we
might
help
eleviate
the
congestion
during
morning
and
especially
afternoon
pick
up
times.
Motorcycles:
Several
high
school
students
are
riding
motorbikes
to
school
on
a
regular
basis.
All
students
who
ride
motorcycles
to
school
MUST
register
with
the
school
office
by
showing
a
valid
driving
license,
be
over
15
years
old
and
wear
a
helmet
at
all
times.
We
care
about
our
students
and
their
safety
and
ask
that
you
help
ensure
your
child
meets
these
expectations.
Students
who
are
found
not
complying
with
these
rules
will
not
be
allowed
back
on
their
motorcycles
and
parents
will
be
notified.
Open
house:
We
will
be
holding
our
Open
House
on
Thursday,
9
October
2014
at
4
p.m.
Parents
are
encouraged
to
park
at
the
nearby
village
temple
(Samkong
temple)
and
walk
to
the
school.
Please
meet
your
child(ren)
in
the
breezeway
at
3:45
p.m.
and
meet
with
Mr.
Page
and
the
staff
in
the
breezeway
at
4
p.m.
Mr.
Page
will
introduce
the
community
to
our
new
teachers
and
to
share
our
plans
for
another
great
school
year.
This
year
the
open
house
will
be
somewhat
different
than
in
the
past.
This
year
your
child(ren)
will
be
personal
inviting
you
to
this
important
event
to
share
his/her
work
with
you
during
that
day!
Please
come
to
hear
all
about
QSIP
and
see
how
proud
you
child(ren)
is/are
about
their
experiences
here.
2. Lunch:
This
year
we
will
be
taking
great
care
to
help
keep
costs
of
our
food
service
program
down.
In
order
to
help
control
costs
more
effectively
we
will
be
starting
a
new
overdue
lunch
fee
policy.
If
a
child
does
not
have
any
lunches
to
his/her
credit,
there
will
be
a
two
(2)
day
grace
period
during
which
the
child
may
have
two
free
lunches
from
the
kitchen.
(To
be
paid
back
by
the
parent.)
If,
after
the
two
day
grace
period
has
expired,
the
child
will
receive
another
two
(2)
days
of
peanut
butter
and
jelly
sandwich,
only.
If
after
four
(4)
days
of
not
having
paid
for
lunches,
the
child
will
not
longer
be
able
to
eat
lunch
provided
by
the
school
until
the
family
lunch
fee
account
is
positive.
Thank
you
for
your
cooperation.
Athletics:
This
school
year,
the
Physical
Education
program
will
be
more
extensive
and
structured
equally
around
fitness
and
health,
as
well
as
fun
and
sportsmanship.
The
Phuket
Association
of
International
Schools
has
already
planned
sporting
events
for
the
year,
and
QSI
International
School
of
Phuket
will
participate.
First
term
is
football
and
volleyball
season.
Our
PE
teacher,
Mr.
Warren
Murray,
plans
to
have
6
football
teams
and
1
girl
volleyball
team.
First
tournament
of
the
season
is
scheduled
for
October.
Mr.
Murray
will
be
sending
out
more
information
at
a
later
time.
One
activity
that
is
new
this
year
is
golf.
However,
it
has
a
fee
attached
and
a
minimum
number
of
golfers
willing
to
pay
the
fee
in
order
to
start.
If
you
are
interested
in
gathering
more
information
about
this
program,
please
let
the
school
know
by
sending
an
email
message
to
phuket@qsi.org.
Afterschool
activities:
Our
afterschool
activities
program
will
be
ready
to
start
in
a
few
weeks
on
23
September
2014,
with
many
activities
students
can
enjoy.
More
information
about
After
School
Activities
will
be
coming
soon.
Used
clothing
donation:
The
school,
together
with
the
Rotary
Club
of
Patong
Beach,
is
working
towards
collecting
some
clothes
for
the
underprivileged
families
in
Phuket.
Children
are
growing
so
much
during
the
school
holidays
and
families
may
want
to
donate
outgrown,
but
usable
clothing.
So,
please
donate
old
clothes
for
any
age,
school
uniforms,
old
shoes,
etc.
A
collecting
box
is
at
the
entrance
of
the
school.
We
need
your
help!
Parents,
it
is
very
important
that
we
have
the
most
recent
contact
information
for
our
families.
We
will
be
sending
a
Contact
Update
Form
home
with
your
child.
Please
fill
it
out
completely
and
send
it
back
to
school
with
your
child
by
Friday,
12
September
2014.
