Term 2 is well under way in Pukeko Hub. We are all very excited about
the changes to our space. Moving the walls out has made such a big
difference. The space seems so much more roomier. Last week we
received the extra bean bags that have been on back order. The new
ones are green and orange to bring even more colour to Pukeko Hub!
Optimising Learning Opportunities
Learning for Term 2
Inquiry
We will be starting our inquiry
unit on Monday. The context is
‘science’ with a focus on The
Physical World. We will be inves-
tigating aspects of solids, liquids
and gases as well as changes of
state. To conclude the inquiry,
the children will carry out an in-
vestigation that will put what
they have learnt into practice.
The Arts
We are going to design and
make hand puppets. The pup-
pets will be used in a puppet
show towards the end of this
term. The students will also be
participating in a unit of drama
which will support what they
need to know to create and per-
form a puppet show at the end
of the term.
Can Collection
For our inquiry unit this term we require
clean and empty tin cans (410grams).
We are aiming to have one can per child.
Please start collecting used tin cans and
send them our way by week 4.
What’s Coming Up…
Book Week / Book Parade is coming up in week 5. This year we will be having a ’Book Olympics’
as well as all the usual activities. More information to come soon.
Science Road Show. Pukeko Hub is going to the Science Road Show on Thursday 4th July, week 9.
We will require parent help for this trip. More details will be sent out closer to the date.
Sharing Day: The students in Pukeko Hub would like to showcase their learning in The Arts and
Inquiry with families and friends towards the end of the term. Stay tuned for more information on
this.
