A TypeList is a list of links that can be used to permanently display specific content on a blog sidebar. There are five types of TypeLists - People, Books, Music, Links, and Notes - but Links and Notes TypeLists are most useful for educational purposes. A Links TypeList allows adding regular internal or external links with a title and URL, while a Notes TypeList displays custom content like images or badges using HTML tags.

2. A TypeList, being a list of links, is set as a specific type when it is created which can't be changed later. There are five types of TypeLists and each type has a different function. A TypeList can be used to display different types of items, like books or music, or a group of people. The types of TypeLists are as follows: People Books Music Links Notes However, for our educational purposes, it is the links and notes TypeLists which are key. So what are they?!

3. Link TypeList Use a Link TypeList to add regular links to your sidebar. Link to pages on your own site (as a site navigation menu), or to other sites (as a side blog). The fields in a Link TypeList are: Title (what people will see in your sidebar) URL (the web address) Notes (To describe what the link is to) THIS WILL BE YOUR PRINCIPAL TYPELIST Notes TypeList While all other TypeLists are designed for listing and displaying very specific types of content, a Notes TypeList provides a way for users to enter in arbitrary content into their weblog's sidebar. This type of TypeList is ideal for displaying the following types of content: - Custom graphics and images using the HTML <img> tag - Your favorite badges – eg for flickr The fields in a Notes TypeList are: Label Note

4. This main TypeList page can be accessed by clicking on the TypeLists tab. It displays all the typelists you have created, and you can add or edit these at any time. Click here to create a new TypeList

5. In this screen you can create a new TypeList. By clicking on the drop down menu you can choose the type of TypeList, and then put the name which you want to assign it. But first you must decide which type of TypeList to use...

7. Here we are setting up a link to the SSAT toolkit website. To do this, we need a Link TypeList, which we will call SSAT toolkits. Now press Create New List

8. The Add Item function allows us to input the details of a new Link. Paste the URL (web address) of the required site, and then add a description in the Notes section. This will appear when the user hovers their mouse over the Link.

9. In order for any changes to appear online, it must be published onto the blog. As such, press Publish

10. Choose where the TypeList should be made. Normally this will be onto your blog, not the About Page which describes you. You will then need to press Save Changes .

11. The blue shaded boxes indicate that a task has been successfully completed. If you want to change the position of the new TypeList on your sidebar, click Order
