The Tribal Health Initiative provides healthcare services to over 10,000 indigenous tribal people living in the Sittilingi valley region of India. It began in 1993 operating out of a small hut and has since expanded to a 24 bed base hospital. The initiative focuses on training and employing local tribal girls as health workers to provide accessible and affordable care. It also implements community health programs and focuses on health education, maternal and child health, and prevention of diseases like tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS. The initiative aims to help tribal communities attain the highest level of health and heal themselves through various experiments in community-based healthcare.
