• How is the animal able to run fast ? ----- The
animal does not run but walk in a clumsy
way.
• How is the animal able to have superior
strength ? ----- The animal does not have
superior strength.
• How is the animal able to swim well ? ----
The animal does not swim. It climbs tree
instead.
• How is the animal able to camouflage itself ? -
--- The animal blend within the trees, so that
they are not spotted by their predators.
• Describe any extraordinary lengths , masses ,
size or measurements that the animal has . ----
• An adult weighs about 20-25 pounds (9-11KG)
• A young weighs about 15-20 pounds (5-9KG)
• What chemicals are in the poison of the
animal and their effect ----Tree kangaroo has
no poison .
• What are special materials that parts of the
animal are made off ---- Nothing
• Describe how the animal is born? ----The female
takes up the birthing position with her tail between
her legs. The joey is born blind and hairless. It is
born from the female's uterus and then climbs up
the outer fur of the female and into the upward
facing pouch where it attaches itself to a nipple
until it becomes stronger. It stays in its mother’s
pouch for 11 months after it has been given birth.
• Describe how the animal’s body functions to
enable it to survive in the wild ---- These
include: their exceptionally long, pendulous
tail facilitating balance ,stronger forelimbs,
shorter and broader hind feet, longer, curved
claws on feet and spongy soles.
• Describe the Habitat of the animal ---- They
lived in Rainforest.
• Description of diet: They eat anything from
leaves, sap, insects, flowers and nuts.
• Two characteristics of Tree Kangaroos : Active
and Skittish.
• Active : Tree kangaroos are active in the
morning and afternoon , but in areas near
human settlements they are mostly
nocturnal.
• Skittish : They are much more skittish during
the day so do not approach them as they will
readily jump off the trunk and take off.
• Besides these two characteristic , they are
also talented in climbing trees.
• Globalization => No. it is not loan to other
countries.
• Commitment and responsibility => WWF
(World Wide Fund For Nature) organized
activities such as TRAFFIC.
• Is there any hardship that the animal encountered ?
---- People hunt down the tree kangaroo for food .
People uses dog to track them down. This can cause
extinction. The tree kangaroo also goes through
hardships like deforestation . Some were killed by
cars when crossing roads . Many tree kangaroos will
lose their home. The Government has done
disseminate lessons learned through a global
network to support community-based conservation
programs.
• What is done to help their survival?
• Reducing deforestation and loss of habitat caused
by illegal logging , including support for FSC
certified wood and wood products.
• Raising awareness of habitat loss and the effects
of hunting.
• Promoting and managing protected areas
• Reducing illegal hunting through programs such
as TRAFFIC.
• WWF: World Wide Fund For Nature.

A Tree Kangaroo has a long , cylindrical tail ,
which is used as a rudder as it jumps from
branch to branch in the trees this helps it to
keep its balance . It has larger forelegs and small
hind legs there features help it to climb and leap
from branch to branch . Its has shorter , rounded
ears . It feeds on fruits and leaves of the trees
for survival . Its colour enables it to camouflage
effectively within rainforest tree.
1) Name 2 examples that the WWF Has done to
protect the tree kangaroo.
2) How does the animal adapt itself to its
environment.
3) Name 2 body function that enables the
animal to survive.
4) Name to hardships that the Tree Kangaroo
had encountered.
Group Reflections
We have learnt more about the natural
habitats of the animals. Each of us has
put in our own effort in this project.
Hence, this was a very good experience
for all of us.
