Academic research about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) resulted in exposing faulty scientific publication by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) which caused significant under-reporting and deprivation of care and education of hundreds of thousands of children. Given the very limited number and quality of research, the subject work by CDC continues to be cited by lazy researchers, resulting in a huge percentage of society being deprived of appropriate education and economic opportunity.

California Study Looks at Parental Involvement in Kids’ Education

Having graduated from Pepperdine University with an Ed.D. in education, Christopher Bianco Arellano now serves as the executive director of Tri-City Educators in Los Angeles, California. Christopher Bianco Arellano’s doctoral dissertation looked at Latino parents and community members who were significantly involved in children’s education. This qualitative research project drew six conclusions: Role of Community Organizing Many parents in the study’s focus groups took part in community efforts to address issues that affected public education. However, community groups and involved parents do not work together to improve learning outcomes. Lack of Time The requirements of their jobs made it difficult for parents to attend meetings at school. Some parents had more than one job, and meeting times were inconvenient. Problems with Bureaucracy In general, study participants perceived barriers such as strict rules, unfriendly staff, and a non-conducive atmosphere at schools. They wanted better treatment from administrators. Timely Communication Parents wanted more proactive notification of school events. News of meetings often arrived too late, or not at all. Need for Coordinated Action Christopher B. Arellano visited several community organizations and found no coherent strategy for meeting the needs of parents who wanted to be active educational partners with their children. Economic Concerns Respondents noted that gentrification had brought an influx of new residents who often had no children and therefore little interest in the school system.

A majority of children with disabilities that negatively impact church attendance and participation suffer from “hidden disabilities”…serious emotional, behavioral, developmental and neurologic conditions with no outwardly apparent symptoms. Most can be successfully included in children’s ministry activities and served through a family ministry approach without the need for “buddies” or the creation of a “special needs ministry.” In this workshop, participants will identify strategies to overcome common barriers to inclusion of kids in children’s ministry with conditions including ADHD, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders, mood disorders, learning disabilities and trauma, and apply family ministry principles to promoting spiritual growth among children with hidden disabilities and their siblings.

Running Head: ADOPTION 1 Adoption Jovan Maires Columbia Southern University 1 ADOPTION 2 Adoption Adoption has been an activity that has been ongoing over the past few years. It is meant to help the children who are from worse conditions receive care and have a chance to live with a family again. Children may, on the other hand, are subjected to another family that they are not used to, or the new family may find it hard to live with another person who is not related to them by blood. The adoption agencies are developing education programs to create awareness for people who want to adopt children that even children with disabilities and those who are ill can be adopted. For example, the pre-placement education and preparation curriculum (PREP), this is a session for educating people prior to adoption. After the training, the parents are seen to develop a positive attitude towards the adoption of children who are physically and mentally challenged (Edelstein et al., 2017). The controversy of adoption is that some people think of adoption as illegal and unethical. In contrast, others think of it as a chance for children to be accepted into loving families, and some have problems with the type of families the children are brought to, such as LGBT families. The positive side is that the children are brought to families where they have access to basic needs such as shelter and education. The negative side is that the adoption process id expensive. Adoption of children should be considered across all nations to help ensure that children who are disadvantaged in any way, for example, those that lack families, get better families, and proper development environment. Literature Review Children who live in foster care face many developmental challenges compared to those that are adopted from the place. Even though the adopted children from foster care do not fare 2 3 ADOPTION 3 that well, they otherwise receive better conditions than those that stay in the facility. Also, comparing the children adopted from foster care and those that live with their birth parents, the ones who live with their biological parents fare well. The comparison is done based on health outcomes, cognitive, social psychological wellbeing. A Brief History Adoption was not a common thing as it is i da d. T da , e 130,000 children are being adopted every year in the U.S. (WebAdmin., 2017). The action is meant to help the children as well as the birth parents who cannot be able to support the lives of their biological chi.

The resource was developed from scoping existing workforce packages and in consultation with consumers, carers, researchers and mental- health clinicians. Preliminary evaluation data were collected from an urban and a rural site in Australia via focus group interviews and pre- and post-training questionnaires to ascertain the experiences of those who participated in the training. Additionally, training facilitators were invited to maintain journals in order to identify planning and implementation issues when using the resource. Post-training, participants emphasized the need to work collaboratively with others, as well as the importance of acknowledging and working with the family members of consumers, especially children. Also, participants reported positive changes in knowledge, skill and confidence when working with families affected by parental mental illness. Facilitators highlighted technology issues and the need to work interactively with participants when using the resource. Recommendations regarding policy and future research conclude this paper. This is a partial report and focuses on how parents prefer to receive education and information to support their decision making about GWS. Design: This study adopted an interpretive description qualitative method- ological approach and used the concept of shared decision making and the Ottawa Decision Support Framework. Methods: Participants were parents who had already consented to GWS, and had children with undiagnosed conditions that were suspected to be genetic in origin. Fifteen parents participated in a focus group or individual interview. Transcriptions were analyzed concurrently with data collection, iteratively, and constantly compared to one another. Repeat interviews were conducted with five of the parents to confirm, challenge, or expand on the developing concepts. Findings: Participants felt that their decision to proceed with GWS for their child was an easy one. However, they expressed some unresolved decisional needs, including a lack of knowledge about certain topics that became relevant and important to them later and a need for more support and resources. Participants also had ongoing informational and psychosocial needs after the single clinical encounter where their decision making occurred. Conclusions: Participants expressed unmet decisional needs, which may have influenced the quality of their decisions. Embracing GenAI - A Strategic Imperative

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction. This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
