The TRANSBIO project aimed to transform by-products from the fruit and vegetable processing industry into valuable bioproducts using biotechnological methods like fermentation. The project had 16 partners from 9 countries and sought to produce plastics, nutraceuticals, and enzymes through fermentation of industry by-products. The overall goal was to implement an innovative cascading concept to create a more circular bioeconomy and valorize subproducts from the food industry.
