2. Within film trailers, the title of the film is often presented either at the start of the trailer or
more commonly at the end of the trailer.Within our film trailer we revealed the title at the
end of the trailer in order to follow key conventions of professional film promotions.The
title is often displayed at the end of the trailer in order to make it more memorable for the
audience, as they may forget the name of the movie whilst viewing the trailer.The film
title is bold in a decorative Serif font in order to resemble and old fashioned stamp that
would have been used in banks when dealing with money.This relates to the storyline and
gives the audience a small indication of the storyline which is reinforced through the
trailer.The colour scheme is orange as it is a warm and strong colour which relates to the
comedy genre, therefore the audience will have a better idea of what the film will contain.
The name of the film is “PLAN C” because it
reveals the comedy genre as it implies that
plan A and plan B didn’t work out, creating
an enigma around what happened and why
the characters are still trying to
accomplished whatever their tasks are.
Which connotes the failed attempts to be
humorous and amusing.

3. At the start of the movie trailer I have broken the key
conventions of the comedy genre when referring to
setting/location.This decision was made in order to
develop an enigma around the storyline, capturing
the viewers attention and making them want to view
more.This was done through visual iconography,
using a dark location and using dark clothing in order
to brake conventions.
This would then help reveal the comedy genre later in the film trailer as it is clear that the
characters aren’t as capable as they make out to be.The dialogue used within this scene also
helps to develop the comedy genre as it is very uncertain and connotes an immaturity.The
characters are also made through Mise-en-scene to look very normal in order to help
generate the atmosphere I intended.

4. With costumes and props we decided to brake the conventions of the comedy genre in order to
reinforce the criminal aspects of the storyline. However the characters used a turquoise Nissan
Micra in order to add to the humour and brake the convention of having a fast get away car.
The characters wore intimidating clothing and balaclavas to make the criminal act more
realistic.The characters were also wielding a variety of weaponry ranging from a gun to a
baseball bat and a knife.This was done once again to increase the anti-climax in order to
increase the humour.

5. With the camerawork and editing we followed the
key conventions in order to generate the best
footage. For example we used low angle close
ups, therefore the characters were made to look
intimidating and powerful. The shot modelled
above presents a point of view shot from the
hostage, this is has been done to add to the
atmosphere and give the audience a similar
experience as the hostage.
We used other shots such as medium
long shots in order to present the
location and the setting, this was done
as it would make the scenario more
realistic. It also allowed the audience
view all the characters intended within
the shot.

6. The title typography and style is a key component
to the continuity of the promotional package. The
font is “old stamper” which generates a style that
resembles a stamp used within banks when dealing
with money.The decorative Serif font will develop
brand identity and create awareness.The title will
become a key aspect of the promotional package
as the target audience will see the font and
instantly recognise that it is related to the movie
“PLAN C”. Throughout the trailer there is
continuity displayed in the titles colour
scheme and typography.The
orange/golden colour scheme was
selected as it displays a sense of
warmth. I required the colour scheme to
connote warmth and happiness as it is a
common convention within the comedy
genre.

7. The narrative is displayed in a chronological order which is a key
convention within the comedy genre.The trailer starts with the
Planning of the robbery, they are in a dark unknown room
In order to create an enigma surrounding the situation
And there task.The trailer continues in
Chronological order throughout, from the
Planning process to the actual
Theft.

8. The characters are clearly not related, and
there is no affection displayed within the
trailer.Therefore the audience can
presume that the characters are just
friends.
The audience can connote that the
characters share the same interests as
they all intend on committing the crime at
hand.
The characters are young and clearly
immature through the dialogue
revealed within the trailer.Therefore
the audience can understand that the
characters are most likely students
that want to get rich fast.

9.  We are not shown the story in narrative order
 They show case the stars of the film
 Some visual images stay on screen for only just enough time
for our mind to realize what we are seeing.
 Conversations between characters usually consist of one line
each
 Unusual angles are often used to show events or characters
 Action is interspersed with credits on screen
 Voiceovers are used to tell the story and give credit
information
 Music plays an important role in creating atmosphere
 The title does not appear until the end
 The trailer builds to a climax, where it ends

10.  Within the film trailer I have not followed this key convention.The trailer
scenes have been played in chronological order therefore it is easy for
the viewers to understand.
 The simplicity of the narrative order reflects the almost simple
mindedness of the characters within the movie, revealing a small insight
in to what the characters persona’s may be like.
 It also displays a sense of structure which not only relates to the title but
links to the content of the film.

11.  I made the decision to follow this convention.Therefore I clearly show
case and display the main characters.This introduces the
actors/actresses to the audience, therefore the film is not only being
advertised by the trailer but promoted through the status of the
characters.
 The characters are revealed at the opening of the trailer and are
presented throughout up to the last scene.
 Show casing the characters also presents the genre, through their
actions and the dialogue.

12.  I followed this convention as my film trailers genre is comedy, therefore
my shots had to be quick and fast paced in order to reflect the hectic
nature of the situations and generate and exciting atmosphere.
 Using visual iconography to present to the audience what is happening,
is used to shock the audience and amuse them in a humorous manor.

13.  I have followed this convention in order to keep the speed of the shots
fast paced.The comedy genre often consists of comical one liners, which
we attempted to apply to the film trailer.
 Within the film trailer we also went for shock value and try to display an
uncertainty in the dialogue, this was done to generate a narrative enigma
surrounding the contents of the film.

14.  I partially followed this convention as the shots we used were not
particularly unusual, however were essential to the comedy genre.
 I included a variety of medium-long shots which were followed up by
close ups in order to add to the humour and make it clear to the audience
who is speaking and what the characters are doing.
 Using close ups also allowed me to present the emotions and the
expressions on the characters faces, which helped to develop the
comedy within the shot.
 Shots such as low angle shots were also used to make the characters look
powerful and intimidating.

15.  This convention has been followed in order to break up the action within
the film, whilst giving the audience a moment to digest what is
happening, therefore the viewers will have a better connection with the
trailer.
 Interspersing the action with titles also helps build up the tension within
the atmosphere before the anti-climax, therefore it increases the affects
of the comedy aspects within the film trailer.

16.  I made the decision to not follow this convention, as I felt that it did not
suit the comedy genre and would best fit a romance or maybe
psychological film trailer.
 The voiceover would potentially slow down the pace of the film trailer,
which would affect the film promotion as the public may not realise that
it is a comedy.

17.  This convention has been followed, as the music from start to end
enforces the atmosphere.The introduction of the trailer consists of the
characters surrounding the table with the plans, I have utilised non-
diegetic sound through the form of back ground music in order to build
up tension and create an atmosphere which I felt was most suitable.
 I have also used the non-diegetic music to change the atmosphere from a
tense, edgy emotion, to a light hearted comical atmosphere, which
reflected the genre of the film trailer.

18.  I made the decision to reveal the title; “PLAN C” at the end of the trailer
in order for the viewers to remember the name of the film, as it will be
one of the last things they see.
 The title then also becomes part of the break down of the anti-climax,
therefore it is surrounded by the comedy aspects of the trailer to
represent the genre.

19.  I have partially followed this convention as the film trailer does build up
to a climax, however for the comedy genre to be clear, I created an anti-
climax to make the film trailer more comical, which will entertain the
audience and make them want to watch the full film.
 The anti-climax has been generated through the use of background
music and the editing of the shots.
